Hi all just wondering if you can help. If I send back a faulty item does the company have to refund the delivery as well as item cost?

Bought a vape brand new off Amazon and they're refusing to refund delivery which was 1/4 of the cost I paid. Standard delivery paid but they added vat on top so it made it more expensive. I can't find anything online about postage before hand only postage to recieve refunds/replacements.

Consumer Law says that you are NOT liable for the cost of the original delivery; that should be refunded to you, whether your item was faulty or not; when you buy online, you have 14 days to return the product, and if you are returning the whole package \[not just one item in it\] you are entitled to this refund. If your item was faulty, most retailers will pay for the cost of return to them as well. Check this out on the Which? website or [Gov.uk](https://Gov.uk) . A lot of retailers say it's their 'policy' not to refund the delivery charge; this is illegal.

That it's their policy? Well, they can say what they want but Amazon know very well what UK consumer law is.Stick to your guns!

I've emailed the company with the consumer law details. Hopefully they do the right thing. If not I'll escalate it with Amazon customer services. Thanks for your help.

I've had to do this with several 'big name' UK retailers and they always back down - because they know it's the law. Doesn't stop them trying to bamboozle customers with twaddle about 'our policy'. Good luck, I'm sure you'll win!

No. The buyer is responsible for postage costs. A lot of places will offer free postage though. That being said, at least here in UK, Amazon offers free drop off at amazon return counters or amazon lockers.

They picked it up free no issue. It's just the initial amount I paid there refusing to refund the exact amount I paid due to their policy to not refund delivery charges when I bought the item.

Yes, as long as you're returning the goods shortly after purchase (i.e. you haven't used them for 6 months then they became faulty) then a full refund should include the delivery cost.
