What's the most regrettable thing you said as a child?

I mean, this wasn't a thing I *said* exactly, more a thing that I did. My great-grandma died when I was five. I was told that we would be going to her funeral, where she'd be buried next to my great-grandfather. Well my great-grandfather had died before I was born, so I'd never seen him. I had seen skeletons before in museums I'd visited, and didn't realise that when the gravediggers reopened a grave they would deliberately avoid disturbing the previous burial. I therefore decided that this would be the perfect opportunity to try and meet my great-grandfather in skeleton form. Somehow during the general milling around between the funeral service finishing and the coffin being moved into the graveyard for burial, I talked a cousin who was about my age into my plan and we'd managed to sneak off ahead of everyone else without our parents noticing. So when the mourning party finally gets around to following the pall bearers into the graveyard, what they find are me and my cousin hanging over the edge of the grave, holding on to each other so we don't fall in, and just as they enter earshot my cousin turns to me looking incredibly disappointed and yells "SO WHERE'S THIS 'ERE GRANDAD TOM THEN?" I was in the middle of explaining that he *should* be here so I didn't understand why we couldn't see him in the hole when my parents intervened. My Nan thought this story was hilarious and has brought it up every Christmas since without a fail, apparently her extended family found it significantly less entertaining but thankfully most of them live in Canada.
