How much did you pay for your water heater and install? What company did you use? Please only reply if you've had a water heater installed. I'm just trying to not get ripped off.

Currently going through this process myself. I have two 50-gal tanks in the attic above the garage. I want to swap them for tankless. Got 4 quotes, 3 of which were $6k+. Home Depot was the lowest at $5250 so I’m going with them based on price and the number of positive reviews I’ve seen on here and nextdoor.

Do it yourself, good character building, it's really not too complicated.

Would love to but my disabled ass can't grow muscles overnight

Had 2 50 gallon water heaters replaced in the attic with 2nd floor access for $3800 from Bacon. I highly recommend them if you’re not going to do it yourself. The professionalism and clear communication was beyond expectations. I had some of the other local places quote as high as $6200. That particular company instantly knocked it down to $4000 when I told them I had a quote at $3800. Meaning they were willing to screw me for an extra $2200 if I would have let them.

Roto rooter charged me $7500 for two, installation included very minor plumbing upgrade and wh has filter

DNA Plumbing. I wanna say it was maybe $1400 all in but there was some other work needed to bring it up to code.

Also recommend DNA.

We paid $1200 in 2021 IIRC, ours is inside the house and we used Earl's plumbing. I love Earl's and they have never done me wrong. They also referred me to a handyman who was a former plumber for them, and the guy did an amazing master bath reno for us.

I used a local plumber, Landry Plumbing, to install a tankless water heater along with a couple of other projects. Very honest and does good work, I probably paid around 2000-2400 for it

7200 to go from 2 regular water heaters to a tankless. Seeing these other prices is making me sad lol
bellekn@reddit
Who did you go with?
Parbiedoll80@reddit
Bacon Plumbing. They did a great job though.

Everybody loves Bacon.
Parbiedoll80@reddit
Yes!!!! That's the one!

2k. From home depot…who then contracts out to same day water heaters. Incredibly easy process. Handles permitting and everything.
Quotes ranged from 3-6k with Lowe’s and private plumbers.
Good enough from Home Depot.

How did you get a quote this low??
MainGroup1158@reddit
If you aren't going to install yourself, use Home Depots service. I quoted 4 different vendors twice over the past 2 years, and they were substantially cheaper both times. Did a great job with both installs too
PlanoPetsitter@reddit (OP)
Did you get Rheem? Are you happy with it?
MainGroup1158@reddit
So far it's been great, no complaints

Just had to do the one in my garage a couple weeks ago. $1800 installed with an independent, professional plumber I've used a few times.

Who is your plumber?

Tankless water heater $2600. It was a few years ago.
fireball214@reddit
75 gal was about $1500 installed. A.O. Smith is best on the market. Gas
Snobolski@reddit
Paid too dang much but, we had a tank and wanted to swap to tankless. And move the location. So that meant moving cold and hot plumbing plus the gas line.
Too. Dang. Much.

$1860 total on 2-16-23. Lone Star Water Heaters. Gas water heater in garage.
Neither-Effect-6101@reddit
I can’t remember what we paid, but we used DNA plumbing. They were the middle bid out of 3.
Hot-Tension-2009@reddit
Bought one at home depot and installed it. Stupid simple just heavy. It was in the garage though. Apparently the ones at home-depot/ lowe’s aren’t anywhere near as good as the ones from professional plumbing stores, but I can’t afford that. If I could I would’ve hired someone to do it from the beginning
michaelthe@reddit
$640. Bought at Lowe's and installed myself. 2200 sq ft house.
elictronic@reddit
600 but did it myself. It’s not that hard in the garage if you are handy and making a mistake doesn’t cost you water damage. I would have paid if inside.
UncleBoody@reddit
I just paid $2000 last month, but it was a same day rush. Garage install of a 50 Gallon. Used Concord Plumbing 214-733-3635. They are the go to for our neighborhood, he’s honest and reliable
