At the start of my divorce years ago my ex-wife moved back in with her parents and we shared custody of our daughter. When I would arrive to pick up my daughter, I'd ring the doorbell / knock and stand on the porch waiting for up to 5, 10, 15 minutes. They wouldn't answer the door, but instead yell through the door that "she's getting ready", or "wait there, she's in the bath". This was an every time occurrence, simply to waste my time. One day while waiting at the door I realized that I was still auto-connecting to her parents wifi. I entered the router's ip in my mobile browser and logged into the admin interface with the default credentials "admin" "admin". Every time I was left waiting on the porch, I would login to the router and blacklist 1 or 2 devices, then unblock them when I dropped our daughter back off. One day it would be Julie's iPhone and a security camera. One day it would be living room tv and HP printer. One day it would be bedroom tv and Kelly's Samsung Galaxy. I was sure to cause inconvenience, but not enough to warrant a service call. This lasted for months and I like to think I infuriated that household by randomly sabotaging wireless devices.

That’s diabolical, but why do you think waiting 5-15 mins is a sign they were intentionally holding you up, lol? It’s hard to get kids ready…we all know this. She may not have wanted to send your daughter to you looking like a mess. People love to bring up the condition of the child in divorce cases. Also, I don’t think it’s in your daughter’s best interests to have you put her mother’s livelihood at risk, or make the home at risk of robbery, by turning of security cameras, but of course you’re on ULPT, lol

About 15 years ago my son's mother was dating a fellow that called child services and reported that I beat my child. (I have never and would never beat my child) I had to go through a bunch of investigations, my son's teachers were notified. It was a big thing and all a lie. This was my revenge. I knew the bar that he hung out at and I knew that he would get absolutely shit faced. So while he was at the bar I wedged a nail in front of his tire that he would run over as soon as he moved his car forward from the parking space. And then I waited on the lot for him to leave. I followed him until he pulled his car to the side of the road with a flat tire. I then called the local police and said there was a car swerving down the road then the car pulled to the side of the road and the driver was vomiting. He ended up getting a DUI and to this day he has no idea that I was involved in any way.

So… I used to drug my mom with liquid oxygen to make her go to sleep, so that I could have more time to myself. . . I grew up “homeschooled” by a single parent who spent my entire life brainwashing me, abusing me, and playing the sickest mind games with me imaginable. I lived in that situation until I was 22. When I was 14-15 things were fairly bad for me, and her, and the abuse was INTENSE. But one day, my mom took me to a local place that’s sort of like a Whole Foods, and we were exploring liquids tinctures and essential oils and stuff, and we found this thing called Liquid Oxygen. It was exactly that, oxygen in a liquid state. My mom was a heavy smoker, and she had asthma, so she was intrigued and bought it. When she took a few drops, it put her right to sleep within minutes. It did this consistently! So….. I saw an opportunity. I started making my mom hand-mixed milkshakes every afternoon! They were delicious, chocolately, and LOADED full of liquid oxygen! It gave me such a nice mental health break from her abuse. I have no idea if that fucked up her brain permanently or not though
View on Reddit #53474586

petrastales@reddit (OP)

How is this possible ? Liquid oxygen is extremely cold. It has a boiling point of around -183°C (or -297°F), which means it must be kept well below that temperature to remain in liquid form. Because of how cold it is, it can cause severe frostbite or cold burns if it comes into contact with skin. It’s also a powerful oxidiser, so while it’s not flammable itself, it can make other materials burn much more fiercely, especially in that supercooled state. A person can’t safely consume liquid oxygen, mixed into something else or not. If someone did manage to ingest even a small amount, the extreme cold would instantly destroy tissue, causing catastrophic internal damage. It would essentially freeze anything it touched — the mouth, throat, oesophagus and stomach — before it had a chance to do anything else. It’s possible there’s confusion with medical oxygen (gaseous, not liquid), or a product falsely labelled as “liquid oxygen” — for example, some wellness products market themselves as containing “liquid oxygen” drops, but these are not actual liquid oxygen in the scientific sense. They’re usually just salt solutions or water with trace minerals, and they don’t have any sedative effect. As for making someone sleep — if someone were exposed to a very high concentration of gaseous oxygen in a poorly ventilated space, or if it displaced enough nitrogen in the air, it could potentially lead to oxygen toxicity or other neurological effects, but this wouldn’t typically result in drowsiness. More realistically, people lose consciousness from lack of oxygen, not an excess.
View on Reddit #53558855

AnOkayHumanIG@reddit

Look idk. It was a little glass dropper from a Whole Foods style market and this was nearly 10 years ago now. Whatever it was, it made her go to sleep within 10 mins of taking the stuff. It worked every single time
View on Reddit #53558998

petrastales@reddit (OP)

Ah, that makes a lot more sense now. That kind of “liquid oxygen” from a Whole Foods-type shop definitely wasn’t actual liquid oxygen — it would’ve had to be stored in a pressurised cryogenic container and would have flash-frozen anything it touched. So what they were calling “liquid oxygen” was likely just a marketing term. There were (and still are) plenty of alternative health products labelled as “liquid oxygen drops” or “stabilised oxygen supplements”. They’re usually saltwater solutions with things like hydrogen peroxide, chlorite compounds, or trace minerals, and occasionally herbal extracts. These sorts of supplements often have vague claims about “oxygenating your blood” or “boosting energy”, though there’s no scientific backing for that. As for the sedative effect — if it made someone reliably fall asleep within ten minutes, it almost certainly contained something mildly sedating, even if not disclosed properly. A few possibilities: – Herbal sedatives, such as valerian root, passionflower, or lemon balm — these can be potent in concentrated liquid form – Magnesium-based supplements, which can be calming in high enough doses – Melatonin, though that usually takes longer to kick in, unless paired with something else
View on Reddit #53559132

AnOkayHumanIG@reddit

Ohhhhhhhhh okay! Yeah that makes sense. I guess I never really thought that far into it, but that actually makes me feel a bit better. I was slightly worried that I caused her harm by giving her this stuff haha. I remember seeing a lot of Valerian root stuff at the shop we went to, so it could’ve been that, but I do remember valerian root as a pill both smelled & tasted like a sweaty gym sock, But this dropped was interesting because the liquid itself tasted like nothing, and it felt like it pretty much just disappeared instantly when it touched skin.

I bought my children. From my ex. He had a court order saying that he could not leave the state, he had to get and keep a job, and that he must pay child support. My kids were little. He would owe a long, long time. I paid him to go away and never come back. I told the state I didn’t want the money. Even convinced state he wasn’t the father. This was before the days of modern DNA testing. I did it because he tried to kill me. He was abusive. He Strangled me and left me for dead. I have no idea how I survived.

I taught students with mental health issues in a separate s hook. One student was severely schizophrenic and really decompensating his senior year. He continued not to be able to pass this stupid test needed to graduate by a few points. It was his last chance to take the test to graduate. Meanwhile he”s hearing voices and paranoid that the woman at Dunkin Donuts spit in his coffee. After he took the test, I changed just enough answers to make him pass. It felt really awful to do it, but there was nothing to be gained by not letting this kid graduate as he was only getting sicker by the day.

Back in 2006 I was in college and my friends and I were throwing a frisbee in the park. Mind you, there are dozens of people nearby. This one guy sitting off on the side walked up and began berating us and saying “that fucking frisbee better not come near me” and “I have more right to be here. I pay more taxes” We ignored him and kept doing our thing. Then a Hispanic family (mom dad and three kids) shows up and starts kicking a soccer ball. He starts berating them. Only to them he’s being even more hostile and aggressive. He then takes their ball and kicks it into the street. They go and get it and we just go back to doing our thing. About 5 minutes later he got up and along the edge of the park were porta potties for public use. He goes in, we see him go in, and we all know what to do. The four of us get behind it and push it over door face down. Fuck that guy.

I was at the dr for antibiotics to treat a strep throat infection. I was drooling into a rag bc swallowing was too painful. I park my car between the lines like a functioning adult in a mostly empty lot. When I get back to my car, this idiot is parked like an asshole right next to me, blocking access to the drivers side. Completely ignoring the empty lot to park right next to me. I gained access through the passenger side to move. Then get out to rub my soggy strep rag ALL OVER that assholes car. Every handle, under and over. That soggy strep rag was rubbed over every surface a hand may potentially touch. Hope they enjoyed the feeling of swallowing glass.

Had a boss who had an ego so huge, I was surprised his head fit through his office door. He would constantly deny people's requests to go home early when they were sick, but kept his office door shut so he wouldn’t catch anything. I got a really gnarly cough and knew this was my moment. I wrote a number he would make us give him daily (something he could look up himself easily, but enjoyed making us come one by one to “report” our progress to him) on a post it note and then proceeded to cough and sneeze directly onto that post it for the next hour or so. Walked up to him, handed him the post it, and then got him chatting about his grossly inbred “boutique” dog he was obsessed with, watching him with silent satisfaction as he passed the post-it back and forth in his hands, scratch his face with it in his hand, etc. He ended up getting crazy sick, had to leave early a few days, and we all made so many underhanded comments about it, his boss told him that he couldn’t deny people leaving early when sick anymore.

I worked at a large department store that took absolutely zero care of their stores. Their shoe department was horrendous. In the winter, it was freezing. It smelled strongly of mold, and when it would rain, it would rain indoors, and we'd put buckets up. We begged management to fix the roof for years, and they always said there wasn't money in the budget. Finally, after one snowstorm and the carpet was so soaked, it squished, I had enough and called OSHA. Long story short, they ended up being fined quite a bit and had to replace a very large chunk of the roof, which ended up totaling about half a million. Revenge was sweet.

I worked in advertising for 15 years engineering better ways to consolidate and extrapolate data on users, and figure out ways to benefit the publisher at the expense of both the user and the advertisers. You have absolutely seen my work as I’ve architected the ad stacks for some very major publishers, billions of impressions a month. I did it because they paid me very well. I no longer do it because I got in an argument with a new boss a year ago and he sacked me, and the market is so shit that even after thousands of resumes I haven’t had a bite.

View on Reddit #52922630

Kiefy-McReefer@reddit

It all comes down to advertising. Here’s an example: You are a lipstick manufacturer, and you charge $5 for lipstick. You need somewhere to advertise your lipstick, so you pick Facebook. Facebook charges you $2 for every 1000 people they show the ad to, but there’s only a 1% chance that person seeing the ad will actually click the ad, and only a 1% chance that click ends with someone buying the lipstick. So, for every 1000 people you get 10 clicks, and for every 100 clicks you get one person to buy lipstick. That means for every 10,000 people that see the ad, you get one sale. So for every $10 spent you make $5. Oh no! You’re bankrupt! But what if you could manipulate that? Well, you know that men are way less likely to buy lipstick, so you tell Facebook not to show the ad to men, let’s say that’s half of users. Now for every 5,000 people you get a sale, so every $5 spent is $5 earned. Breaking even now! Well, what if you knew most the people that liked your lipstick were 20-30 year old single girls? Okay tell Facebook to only show the ad to people in that demographic, and maybe now you’re cut it down to only 1,000 people see the ad, but you still get that one sale. So you’re spending $2 to make $5 — netting $3 profit. Now what if you could use AI to come up with unfathomably accurate models that learn if someone is likely to buy that lipstick, based on things like their gender, age, location, education, whether or not they have bought the brand at Sephora before, or if they added it to their Amazon cart but never checked out, or if you knew they happened to spend a lot of time watching Kardashians or influencer content on TikTok, or spent lots of time on Teen Vogue? Companies like Google and Facebook love when advertisers want that because they will charge you more per 1000 people that see the ad (“CPM”), but it still works out in favor of the advertisers. Maybe they get so specific that it costs them $5 to show the ad to 1000 people, but it’s such an accurately placed ad that it sells 4 lipstick. So $5 spent is $20 earned. Now imagine they did that 10,000,000 times in a day. So they spent $50,000 and made $200,000. This is how it works, but I used real simple math… the reality is that we are talking about $0.80 CPMs that get so specific that they become $3.00 CPMs and the efficiencies and margins are like 2-3% on a great day. But 2% profit when you are talking about $20,000,000/month and it can be repeated basically indefinitely is a metric shit load of money.
View on Reddit #52924141

Vegetable-Tart-4721@reddit

Ok. So, that's what it's worth to companies. That makes sense (now that you explained it so incredibly well). But then, why do they say "guard your personal data, treat it like cash." As a consumer, do I monetize it? Or like, what?  I don't even know exactly what Im asking, per se. Maybe there's not an answer. It just seems like big data has a lot of info about me, and it's getting rich, while I just...spend more money...?  That sucks.
View on Reddit #53035260

Kiefy-McReefer@reddit

It’s worthless to you. There is no real risk to someone losing any of this data. Guard your ad data folk are misinformed, or lying and trying to sell you something. This data is generic about your habits and demographics but nothing that can readily identify you beyond being a user of these platforms. They can associate that data with your name, email, etc but that’s pretty much public knowledge anyway. Also in the countries that have laws about this sorta thing (EU has a law referred to as GDPR - ‘General Data Protection Regulation’) it’s been ruled that you can track a unique identifier so you can associate a user with not wanting to be tracked and that separately you are allowed to count things like page views and site interactions. It kinda turns a lot of this stuff into gray area, and most large scale publishers refuse to even deal with it - instead opting for 3rd party tools like OneTrust which will let us know that the user can’t get personalized ads through certain networks, but anyone doing server side bidding can do it anyway because there is literally no way for the client side to know that ad that it is rendering was based on a bid made with user data associated with it… so essentially you rejecting tracking on websites does nothing to benefit you, but it does spite the website out of making some money, which then makes their tech-illiterate CEO go “waaaaah why did the revenue graph go down this week, make it go back up! Kiefy what the ass is your department doing? What? No I don’t care about the ethics, what are ethics?” And then I have to go figure out ways to get those CPMs back up without technically violating an international law - despite the fact that last I checked not a single euro has been paid of any fines or violations of this law since it passed 9 years ago… Blah. Jesus. Ranting. Sorry. Guarding your Personally Identifiable Information - you know like IDs, and credit cards, bank accounts, etc - is an important and is a whole different animal. Anyway like I said in another comment… the only way to “win” here is to not be on the internet if you care about websites knowing things like “User#5937284 - named Jim Jimmothy, jimjimmothyrox@derp.derp spent 6 hours watching kitten videos yesterday, tried to buy a fleshlight, and is 74% likely to subscribe to Showtime if we show him that ad with the girl smiling pointed to the left (because the mirrored version is only a 36% chance for men in their 30s).” If you don’t then there’s nothing really to worry about. Don’t give out your credit card info though. Or any PII. That’s dumb.

Over 15 years the number of sins, outright fraud, and straight up black hat methods I have witnessed and participated in is countless. Depending on which moral philosophy you want to subscribe to there are many more than that even. I have helped publishers fake their page requests in ways that pit the same bidder against themselves. I have optimized for technicalities and faked interaction metrics based on them. I have witnessed networks outright lie to clients and rolled with the lawyer speak on “well we said UP TO 75% so 5% isn’t a lie.” If you’d like something more in line with user data… I think it was Aristotle that said that all lies are ethically in reprehensible despite their outcome. A good portion of my job was literally finding ways to track people that didn’t want to be tracked without their knowing.

Would you be willing to outline ways to consolidate and extrapolate data on users, please? Hopefully something good will come out of it too and a recruit will see this
View on Reddit #52967997

Kiefy-McReefer@reddit

There are plenty of guides out there already, the skill is making it work for the individual network. Plugging GAM into a website and taking advantage of it has to be done in hundreds of different ways depending on if the website is react, Wordpress, php, an SPA, whatever flavor blah blah blah… honestly I really don’t want to do adtech anymore, and would happily take a job as a faceless front end engineer. Shit is evil, and the toll it’s taken on my mental health isn’t worth the money. But hey recruiters - I can code 20 something languages, have won awards for css animations, personally coded $2m+ budget animations for Apple, Subway, Jim Beam, 1800 Tequila, McDonalds, Mercedes, and more that I can’t think of off the top of my head. I taught a class on how to do crazy complicated css animations and why doing things the hard way ends up with a payload that is less than 1/3 the size of your logo, much less a whole ass video… I can translate requests from sales better than any engineer you’ve met. I prefer vanilla html and js and can justify why. Pay me please.

Anything you can share that’s worthwhile to someone playing in the system to take advantage?
View on Reddit #52915449

Kiefy-McReefer@reddit

Data Privacy laws and regulations are a joke, and no one actually follows them. The only “benefits” you could get through the various dev loopholes we built into everything you can get from using a simple ad blocker… unless you were trying to falsify your own targeting, but there’s no real benefit to that, and most large scale publishers don’t give a single shit if the data is correct anyway. Whenever a new privacy measure is put into place, like Safari blocking 3rd party cookies, it’s the job of people like me to figure out how we can still track that data and still pass it to the bidders. What’s worse is that almost all of these seemingly “protect our users” measurements are actually just ways for those companies to own your data and sell it themselves. We are talking about an industry where making ad targeting 2% more efficient is a multimillion dollar benefit to the company. The only way to protect yourself is to not be on the internet.

View on Reddit #52917940

Unfortunately this knowledge base isn’t really applicable to small businesses because of scale. User Data is only really useful at absolutely massive scale. I could write a dissertation on “how to make AdX monetize your website better than that third party AIO solution you hired at 20% revenue share” but if you don’t have 50,000,000 impressions a month and a dev you wanna throw $50k at for several months of his work then it’s not really useful.

When I was 15, I had gotten paid for working a seasonal job at a haunted house and wanted to get some custom shoes. I messed with the few custom shoe design websites that existed back then (2007 / 2008) and ended up on Etnies website at one point, trying their shoe editor and checking for coupon codes to see if I could find a way to buy them for under $180. I noticed that, when you entered in a coupon code on the checkout page, the code would refresh and turn into a completely different string of numbers. So I copied that string of numbers and entered it as a gift card - lo and behold their site had some issue that turned coupon codes into gift cards for the amount that was to be discounted. So if you used a 20% off coupon code on a $100 order, it would turn into a $20 gift card if you copied the new code. I did this A LOT. I ended up with several hundred thousand dollars in gift cards, though I only ever used about $1000 of the balance. Shipping was free because of the order totals. I made the mistake of telling a handful of my friends about the discovery, and 3 of them ordered a bunch of stuff, much more than I did, and within a month Etnies must have caught on. The last order I placed was cancelled and a note left on it that said ‘Call us’ and had their number. I never called. Never had anything else come from it though. Still have an Etnies belt floating around here somewhere.

One of my favorite professional sports teams made the playoffs for the first time in ages about 15 years ago. You had to wait in a virtual waiting room before you could actually get in and buy tickets to keep the servers from crashing. Once you were in the waiting room, the URL included something like waitnum=0000000476. That number would go down as people finished buying tickets and your page refreshed. I just changed the URL to 0000000001, which apparently made you first in line so you’d be taken immediately to buy tickets. I did that a few times as the playoffs went on. Even though I was a broke grad student, I actually got to go to two games, and I was able to give tickets to my parents! I did buy a few extras and sold them because stubhub had just become a thing. Nothing crazy because I couldn’t afford to buy a huge number of tickets. Paid for my books for the rest of grad school. My team made the playoffs again the next year, and this little trick had been corrected, ha.

Worked in France for an IT company years ago. I gave my resignation because I found another job. It was pretty clear I wanted to leave. I still had to do 3 months there, by law you have to if you have a master degree. I asked management to reduce it to 1 month because there was no point to keep this going, me not wanting to work for them, and them not wanting me. They just said no to fuck with me (this company is famously known to be ass to its employees). Anyway I decided to give them the middle finger on a daily basis. I came at 11 am every day, leaving at 12 for lunch. Coming back at 3pm to leave at 4. That way the insurance company would still protect me if I had any trouble. I obviously spent those two hours watching twitch streams or YouTube in a crowded open space. Not disturbing anyone though, but people were watching, astonished. On my last day the management pulled me and said they would have reduced it to a month if I asked by letter (which is stupid because I asked orally and they said "no fucking way"). A couple of months after I left, I heard that at least 12 people would have left the same team I was working at. Maybe I made them realize you are not a slave to anyone.

A few years back, a certain VR headset company had a program that up-and-coming game devs could apply for and receive VR headsets in order to properly test the games they were developing. I decided to see if I could get myself a free headset by mocking up a website for my fake company and putting together a simple game demo, both of which were required to apply. It was all so low-effort that I didn't expect anything to come of it, but a month later I got an email saying they'd be sending me over a headset. A little later on I received a box that had the headset and some other cool little pieces of merch. I actually then went on to try developing a little VR game, so I wasn't completely a liar, but it wound up falling through anyways.

A couple years ago when covid was thriving and widespread, I had a job where I would do covid testing in the lab. My company was awful to myself and coworkers and really just kept increasing the output without giving us any incentives or benefit, so there was this one particular week where nearly all my coworkers caught covid and it was down to me and one other in the lab. That one other began to start feeling sick so we took her sample, and I had a strong feeling it was going to test positive. Me not wanting to be on my own and wanting that mandatory 5 days off decided to swab myself and then mix her own sample into mine. Low and behold, my sample tested positive and I took a week off guilt free and playing video games. It felt a little sweeter knowing that the company was eating shit for a bit.

I should have taken the higher road, but she has been such an awful person during the entire time period of the divorce that I decided "fuck it".  Everyday for my week of the nesting I made every bathroom visit into that plastic tub and sealed it up.  I never said anything and it was years later when she got around to opening the plastic tub.

I was working in a foreign country under a contract. The job paid very well, but they controlled whether or not we could leave the country. There was a shooting at the location and management told us “Meh, it will be fine”. It wasn’t fine. Someone died. If we quit we were legally required to give 3 months notice and they would keep 3 months salary. That was insane. There was a nearby 3rd country that was popular for weekend vacations. I filled out an exit visa with a flight to that 3rd country. I got my exit visa approved by the company and government. I quietly liquidated everything, went to the airport and changed my flight back to my home country. Sent a very polite email at the end of the weekend saying that I would not be returning. It was Halloween night and my roommate’s girlfriend’s co worker, invited us to a party that ended up being more of a get together. We were right at the age that hosting a party meant you actually hosted a party for your invited guests, and being a guest meant you brought something as a gift for the host(s). When we showed up, with a bottle of wine and a 12 pack of craft beer for the host(s), there was some douche trying to extort money from us for all the alcohol, ice luge, etc he bought for the party. Probably when I was a kid. (Weak, I know, but it's honestly the most vile, in a personal way, thing I can think of.) I was climbing a tree with my best friend. Another neighborhood kid shows up, one we both detested. We were pretty high up, maybe 25' or 30'. (It was a PERFECT tree for climbing!) Kid says he's joining us and he's coming up, too. We both start screaming no, he's not allowed, (it was in my front yard), telling him he better not - or else! "Or else what?" he answered defiantly, and started climbing. We continued screaming, yelling, telling him to turn around, and threatening him with dire consequences, as he slowly made his way to the crown of branches where we were firmly established. He just kept climbing, with that goddamn smug voice repeating "or else WHAT!?" Our frustration and panic grew, because we just COULDN'T let this punk 'win', but we also knew we couldn't step on his hands, kick his head, etc... because a fall from this height would DEFINITELY break multiple bones if not actually kill him. He was almost to us - maybe 6' or 8' below, when inspiration struck. Bracing myself securely with my legs, and my back solidly against a big, vertical, branch, I unzipped my pants. I pulled it out, and began to pee right on his head. As soon as he realized what was happening, he froze. He started to yell something, but that just let it splash in his mouth so he shut right up again and began scrambling down as fast as he could. But it takes a while to descend from that height. And once I ran out of fluid, my best friend began emptying HIS bladder on the brat! We laughed hysterically while he made tight-lipped noises that were a comic combination of outrage, threats, disgust, and embarrassment, as he scuttled his way down the tree. I don't remember everything he said from the safety of the ground, except for the classic "I'm telling on you!" And while my best friend and I frantically prepared our defense for this scenario (once our hysterical laughter finally died away) we never actually heard anything about it. Nor did we see that annoying kid again for a long time.

I did cam modeling when I was 20 for about a week before flashing my email address written down on a piece of paper to the one dude who kept spending like $200 a day for private hour long sessions. I only got around 30% of what he spent, so I figured it was worth trying to cut out the middleman. Very long story short, I found out within a week or two that he was a Pastor at a prominent Catholic Church in a major city. Now, I’m not gay, but he obviously didn’t know that based on me having taken up cam modeling and being cool with other men getting private time, so I made sure to hammer home how upset I was about his involvement in a religion that invalidated ‘my’ existence and lobbed a thinly veiled threat to contact the church to ask if they knew what he was up to - I also looked young for my age at the time. Anyway, ended up getting paid $200 a week for like 3 years just to video chat with him. Never took my clothes off again after finding out who he was. It only stopped because he died. Rip.

You know, I had thought about that over the years. There’s a decent chance he was stealing from the church to pay for our weekly meetings. One thing that’s always bothered me is that the man was involved with the church’s youth programs. I don’t have any evidence that he did anything wrong, but I know he moved around a few different cities over the years and sometimes the reasons behind those moves are really awful in the church. Either way he’s dead now, so I guess it doesn’t matter much at this point.

I'm a vet tech and my dog needs her anal glands expressed regularly and is a good dog for them. I wiped anal gland juice on their car handles. I was a little mentally unwell at this time, but they definitely didn't help.

I had a one night stand with a guy who was a model. Super fit, super good looking. Also super full of it. I was 19 at the time, so i was naive and thought he wanted to actually get to know me. Anyway, we did the deed. The condom broke. He was worried but I was not. He lied me on for a few days but then a girl I worked with told me he just hooked up with one of her friends. He was leading her on too. Then sure enough we found out about a 3rd girl he was playing games with. Collectively, we decided to make him sweat. One told him he gave her an STD so she didn't want to talk to him anymore. The other said her "boyfriend" (who didn't actually exist) worked at the bar he went to every weekend and was going fight him. And I had the perfect smoking gun, I told him I was pregnant and it could only be his. He offered money for abortion because he couldn't be a dad. I said nope (in hindsight, I should have taken the$1200 He offered) but instead I drug it on for the whole summer and he begged me to get rid of it. Finally since I was headed back to college, I let him off the hook and said I'd give it up for adoption. I made him fill out fake forms and everything. Fast forward a few months later, one of those girls calls me and tells me about how this guy promised another girl he'd have her move in with him after she finally slept with him. He then n ghosted her too. So one night I can him up and tell him I changed my mind. Have him a fur date and expect a paternity test because he'd have to pay child support. He was not happy. But during that time I changed numbers and just sort of forgot about the whole thing. I sometimes think about it and wonder if somewhere out there he has got this idea on the back of his mind that someday some kid is gonna come looking for him. What's funniest to me is that I told him I was pregnant like three weeks after we had sex and he believed it and never even questioned it. There's no way anybody would know in three weeks. We were all so stupid, but i'm sure he deserved it.

When Covid hit I was dating a woman I'd known for years and whom I loved very much. We were very much alike and clicked effortlessly. We lived apart but were looking to take the next step together in life. But as the pandemic went on relationships were tested in ways no one could foresee. Unfortunately my relationship was no exception. The first sign things were souring between us was when she refused to come over to my place during the quarantine. Even when my beloved cat Bubba went missing and I needed help looking for him she firmly refused. I was hurt but gave her the benefit of the doubt in the air of so much uncertainty. Next was when she sent me a screenshot of a large zoom call where each box was filled with her friends and their respective partners while I was left out and her box was just of her. That irked me but oh well. She's cautious I figured. After that was when I somehow came down with the virus and being dog sick needed groceries. I asked if she could go pick up some items and leave them on my porch. NOPE. Can't risk it. Finally, after the quarantine was over she agreed to come over and as we were sitting on my couch she leans over to show me something on Snapchat. At that exact moment her ex boyfriend snaps her. She freezes and panics. I ask to see what he snapped but She quickly blocks him which deletes the snap entirely. In that moment it all became clear to me. I played it off fairly cool while she was visibly shaken. Over the next week I went low contact and she freaked. Blowing up my phone. Popping in when she knew I'd be home. Through it all I never let on what I suspected and played the part of dumbass pretty convincingly. This was the summer of 2020 where all the bars in my town had a 10pm curfew. So I invite her out for drinks and we bar hop a few places before arriving at a popular club around 8oclock. As we're entering the club I go to the restroom while she orders drinks. When I come out she's talking to a hot redhead chick who appears to be alone. Now, my gf was well known around town due to her working as a waitress at a popular sports bar. So when I came out and saw her talking to the hot redhead I assumed it was just another good friend of hers. With that in mind I treated the redhead like a close friend joking with her and buying her a drink. All three of us seemed to hit it off and the vibe was good. Turns out the hot redhead had just had a fight with her boyfriend and jumped on the highway to clear her head. When she got an hour away from home she decided to get off the highway and stop at the first bar she saw to get a drink. So no one knew this girl including my girlfriend. When the bar closed at 10 all 3 of us were having a great time together and not ready to end the night .so I proposed we all go to my place and throw darts. And that's what we did. After a few games of darts and several beers later we all sat on my large sectional sofa to wind down. My girlfriend started to fall asleep first and as soon as the redhead noticed that she got up and went across the room and started to do a dance. I shook my head at her but she wouldn't stop doing this sexy dance. Like a strip tease almost. On she went and I couldn't look away. Meanwhile my gf begins to snore. So I stood up and went into the kitchen for another beer and to hopefully stop the two of us from going down this path. The red head follows me into the kitchen and latches onto me while whispering what she wants me to do to her. I repeatedly tell her no and remind her my gf is sleeping the next room over but that honestly only made her more brazen. At this point I'd like to say I remained a saint and fought off her advances but sadly that is not what this prompt is about. The redhead and I went into my office and had just about the most exhilarating sex I've ever had. The thrill of getting caught really ups the ante. We soon went back to the living room where my gf continued to snore fast asleep. So we then went to the bathroom and got busy again. After that she left and as she closed the front door and my Gf awoke from the noise I pretended to be startled awake and confused on what was happening. She never found out about what happened between me and the redhead. Nor did our relationship last much longer. I'm not proud of what I did but after the bullshit she pulled during quarantine I never lost any sleep over it either. About a year later I went to an outdoor wedding and ran into the redhead who was there with her HUSBAND. She shot eyes at me all night and even introduced me to the guy. When night fell she snuck away from her husband and all but begged me to take her behind the barn and put it to her again. I'm happy to say I resisted her on that occasion. The End.

After 9 years together, Bubba unfortunately never came home. He was never one to miss a meal so I knew it wasn't good. Going door to door with missing cat fliers during the height of Covid hysteria was an awkward situation but I had to do all I could. I even warned close neighbors to double check garages and basements as he was prone to explore. I eventually gave up search efforts and about a year later the across the street neighbors (white trash packrats) found him deceased in their basement. Bubba was given a proper burial and those neighbors are dead to me to this day.

At 22 I slept with a married woman. My high school girlfriend that I had been with since I was 14-21 was a very rough breakup and we had a really weird and involved relationship. After that ended it was a rough go for a bit and this woman kept talking to me at a bar a frequented. Shes 38 now and I’m 25. She’s still married to the guy, and we haven’t spoken since. I feel awful for what happened

Lied to two colleagues about each other to each to prevent and breakup a nascent workplace affair.  They were both married with children.  An affair would have been - imho - professionally and personally disastrous.   I felt horrible, didn't know how else to intervene and it did work tremendously, terribly well:  they hate each other and don't care for me much either.  But the affair never ignited and both are still married and with careers and reputations in tact.

US Military bases have a kind of department store called the Exchange. Once or twice a year they would put out scratch off discounts. It was like three or four circles you could choose from. You could only scratch off one of the circles and you had to do it at the register or they wouldn’t accept it. I used a high power beam flashlight and put it to the back of the card. Lo and behold I could see the discounts through the material and one of them was 50% off!! I went out and bought myself a PS4. I scratched off the card at the register and the cashier said she had never seen anyone get over 20% off and was she was so happy for me. Oh and on top of the discount it was also tax free because it’s a military store.

20 some odd years ago I had a friend at work that went through a nasty divorce (no kids). A year after this divorce I gave him shit about still moaning about her, and asked him if there was someone he was even remotely interested in dating, and that maybe he should just try to ask her out. He hemmed and hawed about it (she worked in a different department, I work in IT.) One day, there was an email stuck in the spam filter to her, from a guy she had been seeing for about a month. He's confessing his undying love for her, and wants to spend the rest of his life with her. I immediately deleted the email, told her supervisor that she received a personal email and that those are not allowed, so it's been deleted (I didn't want to be dishonest about not receiving it because we had logs that showed we did.). I told my friend he better ask her out before she ends up staying with that guy. He did. They got married. Now she's a hot shot big wig at Walmart and they own a giant fancy house. Still married and going strong! (They didn't want kids). No regrets.

In the early 90s a friend of mine showed up on my doorstep with two black eyes and her son(4). I took them in. Her boyfriend had gotten mad and threw them out (he wasn’t the boy’s father). I was a field tech for the phone company at the time. Her ex was a minor drug dealer and this was before cell phones. I decided I was going to make life difficult for him. I called a friend who worked in the business office of the phone company who gave me all this idiot’s info on his account. I called into the business office and, pretending to be the guys wife, scheduled his phone service to be disconnected on the next Friday. I called another field tech friend, gave him the phone number, address and cable info. I asked him to go by and cut the wires for his phone service. He was without service for the weekend , definitely affecting his drug business. He called in a repair. They told him the service was disconnected. Since the business office at the time was only open Monday to Friday he had to wait until Monday to get his service reestablished. They tried to connect it from the office which, of course, didn’t work. They finally sent someone out to fix the lines on Tuesday. Poor idiot didn’t have phone service for three prime “business” days. I didn’t feel bad. Just as a side note a number of my friends see me as a very kind person. I’m also the one they said they’d call if they needed someone to bring a bottle of tequila and a shovel to bury the body. I guess I’m just versatile that way. 🤷🏻‍♀️😂

No they weren't lol no weed dealer is going to pay to put MORE drugs in the drugs they're selling you. Heroine and fentanyl are similar, so they'll cut it with fent because it's cheaper and more powerful. Weed isn't a powder, so why would they just give you additional drugs for free?
View on Reddit #52919793

I just don't think it makes sense for a weed dealer. They cut into their profits to give you extra drugs for no extra charge? It's weed. The customers would immediately notice something is off. I fully agree with your statement regarding other harder drugs such as cocaine, heroine, etc

I respectfully disagree, fentanyl dealers aren't also usually fentanyl users because that'd just be too big of a temptation if you're addicted to the narcotics you have stockpiled in your home. Weed dealers can get high in their own supply because it's not a hard drug lol Sorry to hear about your coworker, but are you entirely sure they didn't put fent in their own weed? Not my story, but my roommate's. They worked at a store and had access to half the safe. (I guess the top had a separate compartment that housed "extra" money, for when the registers ran out and customers needed change.) My roommate wasn't high enough clearance, and only had access to the bottom half, where important documents and such were kept. One day, while getting something out, they realized that someone had accidentally shoved the bag of extra money in the bottom half of the safe. They quietly hid it under some documents and didn't tell anyone. The next morning around 4am, they broke into their own store to take the money. Since it was just "extra" money for the registers, it took months for anyone to notice the $300 missing. BUT since my roommate didn't have access to the top part of the safe, they didn't get the blame; another employee was accused of stealing it. My roommate never confessed.

But I never engaged in stalking or assault, so that stuff is more embarrassing than majorly problematic. Note - that's not an excuse for the behavior, nor a reason to condone anyone else doing it. From the perspective of society as a whole, my answer would probably be berating my bosses regarding their treatment of me and other disabled/LGBTQ+ employees. Apparently, I've outright scared a few of them. Now if only I could have scared them into treating us right, rather than calling HR on me.

I stepped up to the screen to find that they'd left their card in the machine. The person was hurrying off down the road and eventually turned the corner and disappeared. I waited a few more minutes and kept getting a statement on the screen so the session wouldn't time out but he never came back, so I withdrew $200 bucks from the account and then took the card inside the branch and handed it in, saying I'd found it on the floor outside. During my time in university we had a field trip to the mountains. Bus drive was about 14h and we stayed for a week. Quite remote location, not close to any town or village. One day, some students found some abandoned kittens dumped next to a road in between some garbage. A few of them were already dead, two of them were barely alive but would clearly not survive much longer. They took them back to our camp, but we had no way of taking care for those kittens. They were malnutrioned, sick, had fleas and what not and most people agreed that they were better off dead. Problem was, we had no proper way to end their suffering. Long story short: when everyone was at dinner, I went outside with one of the professors and I smacked the poor things with a wooden cutting board. One big blow and it was all over. Am I proud of what I did? No. Did I enjoy doing it? Absolutely not. Would I do it again? Given the circumstances, probably yes. It was the best for them. And for what it's worth: I cleaned the kittens, put them in a glass jar with formaldehyde and they are now sitting on a shelf in my study

Shelter was not an option. Heck, calling was not even an option. We were in the middle of nowhere with no reception for a week and a very busy schedule. We could also have left them and let nature do its job, but that would've only let to more suffering, while the outcome would have been the same

Did my best to attract ants by smearing peanut butter in every crack I could find around the foundation of the building. I broke windows. Partially burned down a small shed on property. And I regularly dumped trash around the parking lot. I even went in disguise as a homeless man to harass residents and make a nuisance of myself around the neighborhood a couple of times. We're seven years down the road now. I was never caught, and I've moved on to a certain extent.

Did the landlord give you notice? This seems extreme

I needed to sign a few days leave while working nightshift. I called my manager’s manager and asked for the leave. She said it’s approved by her but I still have to go through my manager, told her my manager approved it. I took the leave. Came back. Got called into a meeting with my manager asking why I took unapproved leave. I swore hell and high water that she approved my leave and how could she not remember (she was a very forgetful somebody) she said maybe she needs a camera in her office so she can record people lying,I agreed with her and even said it’s a good idea, I said I’m not lying and maybe next time I ask her for something I should bring a colleague in as a witness. 😂😂😂😂 She left it at that. I left 6 months later 👋🏽

It's crazy that they're looking to "approve" your time off. It's my fukin PTO, I'm gonna use it when I need/want to. I can understand there are situations where it may need to be discussed and planned. But at the end of the day, you're not gonna tell me when I can have time off.

It was the summer of 1999. An armored truck would always stop at the plaza near me. 1 guy would come out go in the back of the truck and come out with a big black bag on a dolly and go to a few different stores. The other guy would sit in the driver seat with the door open smoking cigarettes for the 15 or so minutes it took for his partner to finish up. It was a Wednesday the truck pulled up and the guy with the bag got out went to the back and got his bag. The driver would always almost immediately open the door to smoke. On this day his lighter wouldn't light, I watched him struggle to light his smoke then rummage around for a minute or two before getting out of the truck. I watched as he began walking to the convenience at the corner of the plaza "about 300 feet" As he got about halfway there my mid teen brain said holy fuck dude that guy left and the other guy didn't close the back of the truck. I just went for it, pulled the back open and grabbed the first bag I could. I could barely move it it was filled with cardboard boxes of coins, the next bag was much lighter. I was poor ASF and basically on my own

I was never caught and nothing ever came from it, two weeks later a different group of now 3 guys started doing it. I had no reasons to stick around and about 65k reasons to leave. Years later on a dark back road in CT I saw a tree fall on an armored vehicle, this wasn't a freak accident and I genuinely believed it was a trap for me. Nope, I gambled at the casino enough that night I wasn't betting again. In hindsight I probably should have considered that the truck was also leaving the casino and had 10's of millions inside. I'm glad I didn't stick around but my eyes are always looking.

I use a certain botanical for anxiety from time to time and buy it online. I found a Groupon for a company years ago that was something like 25 dollars for a 50 dollar order. Bought the Groupon, used the code to place my order, which was literally 50 dollars, received it, yada Yada. For some reason the next time I ordered, I put in the same Groupon code and it worked. Their system didn't register it as used, so I ordered again and basically got a 50 dollar order for free. I did it like maybe 4 or 5 more times before they caught on and fixed the glitch.

When I was a teen I stole makeup from a popular shop. The total value of what I stole was about 5€ back then, which I didn't have. I still feel guilty to this day.

You're on food prep today ( which is his normal job role ) and X has called in sick so you've gotta cover him ( this guy is one of those that he has a set routine and if anything no matter how small is different will send him spiralling) and i said the boss said that he'll be covering all day I don't feel bad because i know this guy claims benefits and he will be fine without a job, if he wasn't claiming anything then i wouldn't have done this

When i was in college and living with an unemployed, not in school roommate because I’m an idiot, there was a house down the street that had been under construction for awhile. One day loser and I went out to the pub and picked up a few strangers turned new friends and brought them home with us to continue to party. On the way home we were walking by this house and decided we should check it out. It’s the middle of the night, before cameras were so ubiquitous… so he ripped off the plywood that covered the door hole so we could go in and explore! Well instead of going inside, we were greeted at the door with what seemed like a magically appearing 2-4 right there on the doorstep. Welp, exploration over! We hoofed it home and had a nice party with our new friends. After they left, loser wanted me to go back with him to the construction site and steal all the valuable tools with him. This seemed fucking stupid to me, not only raising our mischievous misdemeanour to a felony but who the fuck returns to the scene of the crime??? Well he went on his own and was pissed I didn’t come with him but he did score some good tools I guess? I don’t talk to him anymore, he was fun and handsome but a total user.  I guess I’ve not done much in the way of unethical.
