Isn't it's hilarious that Guido van Rossum has a brother named Just van Rossum?

Like, there's a famous software engineer Guido van Rossum. He also has a brother who's not a software engineer and not Guido. He's just van Rossum. Like, your regular, run-of-the-mill van Rossum.
Sorry, I don't know if this gag has ever emerged among you Python folks.

This is a joke? Or is it a serious observation?
ErlingSigurdson@reddit (OP)
Guido does have a brother whose name is Just. It's a fact.
Eurydi-a@reddit
What an unfortunate name indeed, I am sure the pronunciation is different from what we expect
roerd@reddit
Surprise, other languages besides English exist, and in those, "Just" may not be a regular word.
Eurydi-a@reddit
Surprise what? That is exactly what I said in the comment you are replying to.

Joke is als popular name in Dutch. Its doesn’t mean joke and its pronounced different.
IAmA_talking_cat_AMA@reddit
Indeed, J in Dutch is pronounced like a Y, so it's closer to "Yust"
BabyJesusAnalingus@reddit
Considering most people say Guido's first name wrong, it's a safe assumption.
besmin@reddit
Just is pronounced “yoost” in dutch. He is a type designer and creator of fontTools. He was my teacher in KABK and I had learned from him a lot. He’s down to earth and I believe a genius.

Aside, Just is also a very accomplished type designer and programmer himself. He is leading the creation of the Fontra font editor, for example.
mfitzp@reddit
What's the gag? "van Rossum" just a surname?
ErlingSigurdson@reddit (OP)
A pun on first name "Just" and word "just" being almost homographs.
mfitzp@reddit
Oh, wasn't clear from the post because it wasn't capitalized:
ErlingSigurdson@reddit (OP)
Yeah, I capitalized it in the topic name, but went on to lowercase in the post itself.
mfitzp@reddit
Fair enough, just missed it.
wineblood@reddit
Some names in one language will be a word in another, I'm not sure how that's hilarious.
OkMemeTranslator@reddit
I don't know why everyone here is so uptight, I really liked the joke.
He's not the famous van Rossum, he's Just van Rossum.

Crazy that two brothers happens to have the same surname. What are the odds?
ErlingSigurdson@reddit (OP)
Not everyone's got a brother named Just.
kkang_kkang@reddit
Yeah, it happened to me when I was born.
reveil@reddit
And how is this relevant to Python in any way?
Voxandr@reddit
Who the fucks care about that?
