Help with low income housing

Can anyone point me in the right direction for the best way to get through the application process for Section 8/Housing Voucher Program. I've never done this before, but I'm now having to live on SSDI disability. Apparently, I do the application process through a Public Housing Authority office. The websites for the Plano and McKinney PHA offices say they aren't currently accepting applications. It looks like the Dallas PHA might be accepting applications, but I'm not sure if that is the best office to go through. I don't want to live in Dallas County. I'm not sure if that matters. Any help or tips for a smooth process are greatly appreciated.

I thought I may be able to help. Dallas Housing Authority (Housing Solutions for Northwest Texas is open. You can complete an application online. DHA is like PHA where they have a 25 mile jurisdiction meaning that you can technically get a voucher from DHA and still reside in Plano or other cities within that jurisdiction.
I would not recommend Plano Housing Authority by any means as their staff is very uncaring and does everything to create barriers for people who need assistance. Even if you are successful at getting on their program and receiving a voucher, they refuse to follow their own policies and have no one directly overseeing since they are a separate entity and do not fall under the umbrella of the City of Plano.

Can you help me gain a voucher through dha? This is my first time I put it in two weeks ago. what's next?

I cannot help you gain one. It really is sheer luck. You have to start off by seeing which cities are accepting applicants. I don't think Plano Housing Authority is but Dallas may be open. From there it is really a waiting game.
