ULPT Lost £1500 Gambling Drunk – Advice
Posted by Any-Organization5030@reddit | UnethicalLifeProTips | View on Reddit | 22 comments
Hey everyone,
I’m making a short fictional video around the contents of the below and would appreciate any advice.
I recently lost over £1500 while gambling drunk. This happened at home on my own phone, using Apple Pay with Face ID enabled. I want to contact my bank to dispute the payments, claiming that I did not authorize them, in the hope of recovering my money.
One key detail is that the gambling account where the money was spent was not in my name—it was under someone else’s details.
What’s the best way to approach my bank about this to increase my chances of getting my money back? Has anyone had success in a similar situation? Any advice would be really appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

....hoo boy. Thanks for that.
Some people get someone pregnant when drunk.
Take the L, learn your lesson and count yourself lucky.

Think of it this way man, you paid for a really expensive joke for our enjoyment.
Don't gamble online.
But seriously- that money is goooooooone.

Right, still don’t see how any of your comments are helpful or contribute towards anything to do with the purpose of ULPT lmao

They are more helpful than false hope man.
You're in a stage of grief for your lost money. Denial.
No one can help you get it back.
Accepting it and learning from it is the best thing you could actually do, and therefore my advice is actually the most useful.

Nah not really, I’m not losing sleep over it, I’ve been in worse situations tbh, but nice of you too assume I’m in a stage of grief 😆
Stick to recovering from your injuries old man

Fair enough mate fair enough

Whose account was it?
'You' used your device with your face id to gamble while presumably breaking the gambling sites TOS by accessing someone else's account.
Did ' you' transfer the money to their account? Or was it their money that 'you' gambled with?
It seems more plausible for this fictional story for someone to blame 'you' for fraudulently accessing their account. Unless 'you' have exceptional opsec around your phone use I don't think the bank and gambling site will back down, and it's likely that they would escalate it as crime. Are you ok with them going to jail?

Thanks for actually replying with something worthy lmao. No it was my money, but the gambling account is under their name. The bank account is was under mine.

I would also say that if you drink and gamble often your bank most likely will be able to see a pattern of behaviour showing your gambling habits surely this wouldn’t be a one off

Why the assumption that this is an often recurrence? Literally the first and only time it’s ever happened. And this wasn’t with my main bank neither, just a fairly new account with a smaller digital bank

They said “if”, you fucking mouth breather
Miserable_Smoke@reddit
So, you're trying to parlay a $1500 loss into the crime of unauthorized access, and filing a false report? Is this for like, a lawyer who is trying to accrue a lot of stupid clients? Cause those are the only winners in your scenario.
Any-Organization5030@reddit (OP)
Did you miss the part where I mentioned this was all fictional you ret4rd?
Miserable_Smoke@reddit
No, it doesn't have to be true to be a fucking stupid idea, does it?
Sonikku_a@reddit
Zero chance
zackmophobes@reddit
So you are making a video about fictional content that sounds like fraud and you need help with what now? Want me to hold the camera? Gonna cost you $1500

zackmophobes@reddit
No, that's what I would charge.
