Cheddar cheese on Apple pie is an old school combination that used to be way more common. I've never had it, but I've heard it's very good. It's akin to fruit being included on a cheese plate nowadays.

Preach! The struggle is real. When m first child was born we qualified first a government assisted program called WIC (women.infants.and children). These were coupons for various dairy, veggie, and grain foods. It was an insane quantity per month that (at the time) you had to purchase all at once. I’m talking 6 gallons of milk, 2 forearm sized blocks of yellow cheese two crates full with veg.

I am so thankful for the program but you had to get creative on how to use it all before it spoiled. The cheese and veg wouldn’t freeze so everything got the cheese, especially the veg. Warming up those $1 apple pies with a pice of yellow was the most comforting thing I splurged on. If I pulled in enough cash for the week, I’d get two apple pies and a movie from Paradise Video.
