Okay, I’m digging the new front end design now. Huge improvement over the previous
tiempo90@reddit
I disagree.
They have a WORLD CLASS DREAM TEAM of designers - people who headed Audi / Lamborghini / Bentley, and even the Mustang... And the they come up with that front.
hardinho@reddit
tbh if anything they have too many designers that are too convinced of their own work. I just don't see any design language in the cars at all. While some look good they quickly lose their appeal because HMC is pushing out another totally different design with the next model release.b
tiempo90@reddit
This is deliberate. Unique design for each model, rather than a 'unifying look'.

hustlehustle@reddit
Yeah as far as modern cars go, it’s got an interesting look going on
degggendorf@reddit
It certainly is interesting
hustlehustle@reddit
Consider me interested
TroyFerris13@reddit
It looks so droopy
hardinho@reddit
I don't know man, it still looks like the photographer needed quite a long session to find 1 or 2 perspectives that made the car look somewhat charming.
On the road it will look like ass again I'm pretty certain.
Agloe_Dreams@reddit
I mean it’s a little better but the tail is somehow worse.
TheRegistrant@reddit
This car still looks like a turd on wheels.
acog@reddit
The car in profile looks like the rear is falling off.
It’s striking but I don’t find it appealing.
bathroomkiller@reddit
Yeah that curved shoulder is a little too aggressive.
ReflectedCheese@reddit
Wow I agree!
have_a_chip@reddit
I do like it, but the front end kinda looks like a tibetan fox.
dinkygoat@reddit
She ain't pretty, but she's better than she was.
I think the 5 is great. The (old) 6 is the opposite of that. That said, when in comes to stylistic choices in the house of Hyundai, I think Kia has been absolutely crushing it for the last few years.
strangway@reddit
The center console with all the window switches gives me 1980s BMW vibes. I love it!
ByCromThatsAHotTake@reddit
I really like the refresh, it looks much better than before. I could see getting the dual motor one in the future, but probably second hand. EV depreciation is just too steep to buy a new one. I wonder if the N-Line will get any suspension changes.

Silhouette of a summer slice of watermelon
sneakylumpia@reddit
silhouette of a cockroach
strongmanass@reddit
The inspiration was the Stout Scarab, and the inspiration for that is in the name.
UranicStorm@reddit
I would've guessed Citroen DS
hi_im_bored13@reddit (OP)
I genuinely think this looks like a rat I don't see what people are seeing
Terryknowsbest@reddit
THAT's what it is, you're totally right, I just couldn't pinpoint it.
krodders@reddit
Inspired by a banana
noahbrooksofficial@reddit
Still fugly
SophistXIII@reddit
I actually think this might be the ugliest car on sale right now
NissanskylineN1@reddit
Mods - I like the fact that OP has linked the actual press release for this post. You get the most factual information by this. Can we do something rules-wise where if there is a press release for a news release, that the link should be the one from the manufacturer?
hi_im_bored13@reddit (OP)
Thank you, yes second this, would absolutely love a rule like that
hi_im_bored13@reddit (OP)
People in the thread over on the EV subreddit said it looks good. I strongly disagree, I think especially the non-nline looks horrendous. I think even in person it just looks like a dog taking a shit. But its nice to see physical controls and that they've enlarged the physical climate controls as well. Really nice interior. The model 3 is literally the only other player in this space so its much needed competition to the refresh.
And the 6N is to be unveiled in july, which is good to see for enthusiasts.
natesully33@reddit
I checked out the current model in person and thought looked... well, I just don't know. There are parts of the styling I like and parts I don't and I just can't decide how I feel about the current Ioniq 6. The car parts of it are great of course, it's a champ at road trips and charging.
I think the new one is an improvement but it's still not calling out to me styling wise. But not making me run away either.
degggendorf@reddit
Same here. Unfortunately I still COMPLETELY hate it.
The_Fry@reddit
The only things keeping me in my M3P is the size and power. I'm dying for a competitor to match this.
EVRoadie@reddit
EV6 GT. 0-60 ~3.5 secs.
Y33TUSMYF33TUS@reddit
Nowhere close to the same size
The_Fry@reddit
Which is a crossover. Specifically I do not like crossover/SUV style sitting position. So when I said I size I also mean form factor and a sedan. Which sucks because sedans are mostly dead these days.
bandito12452@reddit
Same, I’d love a 6N. This refresh styling looks nice too
Krossrunner@reddit
Love the N-Line 🥹
Latios19@reddit
Much needed because those headlights from the current gen are hideous 😨😨
XanderXedo@reddit
Still gives me Infiniti J30 vibes.
Shamrocksf23@reddit
What is cool is the buttons in the interior. We are back baby
MembershipNo2077@reddit
Finally someone made an EV that isn't "WE PUT SCREEEENS AND CAPACITANCE SENSORS!"
1AMA-CAT-AMA@reddit
Well that’s going away soon. Hyundais next gen infotainment is a Tesla clone.
jojowasher@reddit
yep, but window controls in the centre will take some getting used to.
MembershipNo2077@reddit
I guess unless you're a Jeep driver. I'd guess they probably aren't buying an EV sedan.
Shamrocksf23@reddit
Hate when they put them in the middle alright. Good catch
korpiz@reddit
Still looks like a half sucked jellybean, but at least they cleaned up the rear. The last one looked like they made it from three different cars.
Free_Broccoli_804@reddit
Is it going to be released like that? If so, wow!
Odd-Refrigerator-425@reddit
Why is their website off-center? https://i.imgur.com/SW9FLAb.png
lol
Terry___Mcginnis@reddit
Shape looks like a Mercedes EQ in a bad way.
Firereign@reddit
I can’t stand the side profile. The lines don’t look “sleek” to me, they just look wrong.
They chase aero efficiency like that, and then they put that bumper on the “N Line”. That can’t be good for aero.
Potentially hot take for this subreddit: the 5N leaned far too hard into cooling for track endurance at the expense of drag and therefore range, with no benefit for road use.
Most of these cars are staying on the road. Most people buying these as dailies want a fun car that doesn’t compromise too much on practicality.
I think it’s cool that they’re making good track EVs, but the “hardcore” track-focused one should have been a separate trim for the few people who want to track them regularly.
Seeing the 6 “N Line”, I expect they’re doing the same thing here. That’s a shame. The refreshed 3 Performance sorely needs more competition, especially for those who understandably want nothing to do with Tesla. And I think the 3P strikes a much better daily balance.
I hope Hyundai proves otherwise with the 6N. I’d like an alternative to be available if/when Twitler burns Tesla to the ground.
bwoah_gimmethedrink@reddit
The new front is better, but the shole shape is still super weird. It's definitely not getting a proper second generation.
LoPanDidNothingWrong@reddit
I wish they had leaned in more on the retro future N74 styling.
ThinkAboutItTwice614@reddit
I guess they saved that for the new Hyundai Nexo.
hi_im_bored13@reddit (OP)
The n74 does not look particularly cheap to build nor efficient
Quatro_Leches@reddit
why because the panels look different?
hi_im_bored13@reddit (OP)
Well yeah you'd have to redo quite a bit of tooling, and you have more frontal area and a draggier profile overall
LoPanDidNothingWrong@reddit
Well more directionally in styling than anything.
handymanshandle@reddit
Seems like Hyundai isn’t wanting to commit to making larger full N vehicles. This and the Sonata N Line seem to fall into this category. Can’t really blame them as I can’t imagine many people would pay up for a track-ready (or close enough to it, anyways) Ioniq 6 N, but it’s interesting to see that.
Southpawz@reddit
The back looks like the Infiniti J30
bathroomkiller@reddit
I like the N version. Not vanilla version, not so much.
Pro-editor-1105@reddit
N LINE, not N, that will probably be revealed later.
Du_Kich_Long_Trang@reddit
The link says in July
c172fccc@reddit
The full reveal will be in a couple months, but you can see the rear of it in the background of first picture.
BigAssClapper@reddit
Y'all for real? Shit is ugly from all angles.
gristlestick@reddit
Citroen is going to be pissed.
CARB0Nrr@reddit
Is the Ioniq 6 N Line confirmed for the US? There is a 5 N Line but it's not sold in the US
LeetcodeForBreakfast@reddit
cars are slowly looking like 90s round econoboxes again and i love it
bubbleawsome@reddit
Looks kinda like a first gen SLS
Iamretarded-@reddit
I like the look. The problem with this car is that it's not a hatchback. The trunk design is a big mistake.
1AMA-CAT-AMA@reddit
aww they got rid of the double spoiler. I was one of the weirdos who liked it. I do like the front end design better though
w0nderbrad@reddit
In the first pic, you can see one with a double spoiler in the back
V8-Turbo-Hybrid@reddit
They probably plan it as high trim. That’s how Porsche done in their Taycan. Xiaomi also follows their idea in their EV too.
Goldpanda94@reddit
Thankfully they fixed the front. The current front end alone was enough to keep me away from the car. I love the rear and the rest of the design
Sweet-Gushin-Gilfs@reddit
Ew wtf. They really looked at the Mercedes EQS and said that’s the vision? That’s the future? Fucking shit
rhunter99@reddit
It’s interesting but I don’t like how the whole car looks like an arc
CivilC@reddit
I like the front a lot, even the rear. But I have never liked how this car looks like it’s being bent like a boomerang. It’s so strange.
CommanderArcher@reddit
I'm glad Hyundai is making funky cars like this.
jse000@reddit
Ugly
OvONettspend@reddit
Somehow managed to make an eqs look good in comparison
peaked-at-7@reddit
I think these look rad. Significantly more interesting to look at, inside and out, than something like a Model 3.
PintoI007@reddit
I think this looks sick tbh. A huge upgrade over the current generation for sure.
tykempster@reddit
Reminds me of Mercedes. A lil too swoopy for me personally.
SithSidious@reddit
honestly put the ioniq 5N fake shift mode into a 6 N, give it some flared fenders like the concept had, a mild wing, and I would be so incredibly in except for the fact that I don't own a home and shit is so expensive here that I need to save every last cent in this economy
DaOne_44@reddit
I miss the Porsche headlights man
Tbro100@reddit
Yea they just looked more unique. While thr new one also looks nice, it just looks more like the Sonata
Capri280@reddit
The front air dam on the new regular ioniq 6 looks more agressive than the N line version
nucksmisconduct1@reddit
Those headlights scream i am stoned.
Drzhivago138@reddit
FWIW they're probably just the DRLS, and the actual headlights are below them. But either way, they remind me of the half-hidden headlights on cars like the second gen Isuzu Impulse.
gg06civicsi@reddit
Looks Asian
