Help getting a 1969 Mustang back on the Road!!!

Hey first-time poster!
My dad has had a 1969 Mustang since before I was born, and the car has sat in my family's garage for over 30 years! In the past few years, I have become fascinated with cars, repairing many of mine and my friends' cars. I recently started to restore my dad's Mustang, but we realized there's a huge issue with the ownership of the car.
When my dad purchased the car (when he was 16-ish), he received the car and a bill of sale, but never registered the car to his name, and the salvage yard he bought it from has been out of business for decades.
I need help, since I don't know what to do/where to go, to get the proper documentation for the car, so I can get it on the road and insured.
I'm looking for guidance on what my options are! I am from Ontario, Canada. Here's a list of what we do have:
- Bill of sale from salvage yard
- Bought June ##th, 1990, Homer Salvage St Catherine’s, Ontario
- Car history report from before my dad owned it, pre-1990
- Used car package for car (car history, received from Homer's salvage back in 1990)
- Vin is located on the driver's side inner fender and the driver's side door, although the inner fender is rusted away (VIN unreadable), but a readable VIN is still on the driver's door
- Vin: ###########
- Phone number of the Salvage yard (###) - ### - ####
Please LMK what steps I need to do/where I need to go to get this car back on the road!!
All help is appreciated!

If asked, your dad owned the car and gifted it to you, it’s old enough that it shouldn’t be difficult

You'll need to get a signed affidavit. This involves attempting to track down whoever is on the ownership and proving that you legitimately own the vehicle despite the lack of title transfer.
If you want full requirements, stop in at your service ontsrio and ask what exactly you'll need. I did that a few years back

I found out the guy who owned the salvage yard, but unfortunately, he passed 3 years ago. Should I contact his family?

Yeah give an attempt to reach out to next of kin; easiest thing would be that they don't get back to you. Otherwise just kindly explain the situation and have whoever the ownership would have transfered to just to confirm that the vehicle was sold

You should be able to get a bonded title, you pay for a bond for the vehicles value and should something come up where the vehicle was stolen or owned by someone else then the bond pays you the cars value and they get it back. The bond takes 2-3 years to mature and then at that point you’ll get the title clear and free. The bond is usually a couple hundred bucks

Where would I need to go to get a bonded title? Service Ontario?!

You may or may not find some internet rando that just happens to know the intricacies of titling a car in your situation and your location.
You’ll definitely find someone who knows the answer (or that can tell you who to get the answer from) at your local DMV or whatever it’s called in Canada.
