Picking a GPU

hey y'all! I'm completely new to everything when it comes to building a PC and I need a lil' bit of help and direction when picking a GPU for my needs. So far I've chosen the 7 5800x for my CPU!
My budget is 400 max and ik that's kinda unreasonable with everything I've already researched? I plan to stream at 1080p bc I don't really care for 1440p since I'm starting out, however if it can smoothly then I will! I play mostly competitive games so I also need something that'll keep up with that.
Thank you and appreciate y'all

400 max for the entire build, or just for GPU? Total budget, and what region/country shopping in for parts?

400 max for GPU, total budget is around 1500-2000 and I'm in the US!

Should be able to spend a bit more on GPU of have 1500. Already have a parts list on PCpartpicker? Recommend to go AMD AM5 CPU platform instead of AM4 5800x.
For example, can easily fit a RTX 5070 at 550, or the 5070 Ti is coming back in stock often at 750. And would be between 1500-1800 or possibly less.
Depending if needing all the peripherals such as monitor, etc. may also be a factor.
Definitely recommend the performance uplift on AM5 with 32GB DDR5 6000 CL30 AMD EXPO RAM kit, B650 or B850 board, 7700X/9700X CPU, or of gaming can fit a 7800X3D/9800X3D CPU, 2TB PCIe NVMe SSD, 850W PSU, good CPU cooler, etc.
Hope this gives some more ideas, but for sure check out AM5 as AM4 platform is 7+ years old, and AM5 has a future upgrade path.

definitely looking into upgrading to AM5!! I put all my parts into PCpartpicker and I'm no where near reaching my budget so might as well splurge a bit more! Thank you

Sounds great! Also, forgot to mention if have access to a Micro Center retail store, they have AMD build bundles as well. Wishing the best on your part search, and upcoming build!

Look on Jawa. Great used pc part market, I would really just be looking for the best deal. So some research on benchmarking so you can get a basis of raw power and go from there.
