ULPT Request: Best return method for broken WH-1000XM5s

My WH-1000XM5s broke at the right swivel. Bought them from Amazon in 2023. Still have the box, accessories, and everything. Reached out to Sony but they didn’t help. A few days later, Amazon emailed asking if Sony support resolved the issue, so they’re probably aware I tried that route.

Thinking of two options:

  1. Order a new pair, swap mine in, return them. Serial on the headphones and box match, so unless they check headphone internals or connect via app, they might not notice.
  2. Order two items—headphones + something else—and claim the box only had the other item. Not sure how Amazon handles high-value claims like that anymore.

Do they actually track serials internally? Anyone tried something similar recently in Canada? Want the lowest-risk option and open to ideas.
