We just splashed our P21 in Lake Nockamixon, having finally scored a summer slip! We will be looking south to the Chesapeake for more involved adventures at some point, but need more sail time. Precisions are excellent pocket cruisers.

How long were you on the waiting list?
Think-Hospital761@reddit
I believe we applied in fall of ‘23 shortly after buying our boat.
Bluesme01@reddit
What's not to like. Plus 50 seconds a mile over a Catalina 22.

Sexy boat! I had a Coronado 23 mk2 that was a.great weekend boat. I kick myself for ever selling it!
toqer@reddit
Hey me too (I post down below about how this boat is similar) Yours didn't happen to be named the Gz Louise was it?
woodworkingguy1@reddit
My was the Ava Maria but I sold it about 15 years ago and it moved up the Seattle area from Portland.
toqer@reddit
Oddly enough mines up for sale again. Tempted to grab her. https://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/boa/d/hidden-valley-lake-1974-coronado-23/7836918908.html

That is a good price..looks like it needs some work but not bad for the price..mine had a small galley which was nice when over nighting

Mine also…
I was looking for one, ended up with an O’day 26 in good shape…the big plus is that mine came with a performance trailer like many(all?) of the Precisions did!
Beautiful boat there, you’ll love it!👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻
Pennypacker-HE@reddit
I had a mcgregor 24 that was kind of like that. But it had a 15 horse outboard on it too so I mostly just used that to put around. That was a cool little boat.
blueberrybannock@reddit
You had a 15 on a mac 24? I have 8 hp on my mac 25 and it’s almost too much motor.
pheitkemper@reddit
The Catalina 22 has entered the chat.
_SamHandwich_@reddit
Nice boat and I'm also jealous of the trailer!

Reminds me of a Coronado 23. Ship a 1974 Coronado 23 Sailboat Located in Half Moon Bay to Philadelphia | uShip

She's a great light wind boat. In my experience anything over 15 knots and it gets uncomfortable. Get ready to reef often. My friends were bummed when I sold mine because the cockpit is huge!
bipolar_bear76@reddit
We just bought a '96 p21 and are working on cleaning it up, can't wait to put it in the water. We are newbies and it's our first boat, but i've heard /been told great things about precision's, which makes me all the more excited to get out there and sail. Love your boat, she's beautiful!

My vote is for the F27 Corsair.. 😜

Just keep them cockpit drains sealed. Pretty active community on FB and there's an old Precision forum on the Trailer Sailor forum where you can find lots of tricks folks have shared over the decades. Welcome to the club!
A-Hoy@reddit (OP)
Did you add shore power to yours? Trying to decide best place to put the inlet.
coop3548@reddit
Mines not a 23, I got the little brother 18. No shore power but I did just get a lifepo battery that I’m very excited about! Just need to wait for spring :( snowed today!!
A-Hoy@reddit (OP)
I gave up FB years ago but the sailing groups are the only thing that has made me consider going back. I'll check out the Trailer Sailor forum for sure. I just pulled the lead acid battery out and am replacing it with (2) LiTime 100Ah lithium batteries. I'm very excited to upgrade the whole electrical system.

Just brought home my newish Precision 23. After researching many boats, owning a Catalina 22, I believe the Precision 23 checks every box. I'd love to hear your opinion. Also if there are any other Precision 23 owners let me know!
nomadknight@reddit
Looks beautiful! What year is she? What are some reasons why you choose this over the C22?
A-Hoy@reddit (OP)
She is a 2015, I have owned multiple late 70s and 80s boats and really wanted something that to take good care of from the beginning instead of fixing issues caused be previous owners ignoring maintenance. With that in mind I really like the 1986-1991 C22s but it is very hard to find one in great shape in that generation. The modern Capri 22s seem to be much more focused on racing or day sailing and not multi day trips, I'm just not a fan of the style. I love the classic lines on P23, teak accents, tiny galley, opening port lights, etc.
Nephroidofdoom@reddit
Congrats, homie! Very similar inside to my Capri 22. I like that little pocket kitchen you’ve got though.
HotMountain9383@reddit
Very nice, looks to be in great condition.
MrSnowden@reddit
Nice boat. I also have another 23', but the one item that was a must for me was an enclosed head. Helps keep the female guests returning.
Mako221b@reddit
It's a great looking boat! Enjoy.
The3levated1@reddit
That title already goes to the Leisure 23SL

I have a 1987 P23. She has treated us well for 5 seasons—but it’s our first sailboat so I don’t have much comparison data. Do watch out for chainplate leaks.
A-Hoy@reddit (OP)
That was the first repair I just completed, removed the chainplates 1-2 hours of removing old sealant and used Bed-It butyl tape. Hopefully the it stays leak free for a few seasons.
nerdyphotonman@reddit
I used to have a P23. Fantastic boat! Enough room for guests and great in shallow water. So much fun.
thirdseason111@reddit
I grew up sailing a precision 21 with my dad. Great boat!
redluchador@reddit
Had one for years and sailed all over the Chesapeake. Great boat
A-Hoy@reddit (OP)
Did you add an AC inlet power connector? Trying to pick the best spot.
redluchador@reddit
Did not.
sailingerie@reddit
I have a friend that has a precision 27...he loves it... it's fun as hell to sail!
kosieroj@reddit
Good for you! I have a MacGregor 26x and enjoy the galley and head. But no doubt yours will beat me in a upwind race.
