New Handgun Suggestions

Looking for my next handgun any suggestions. Couple thousand rounds on the VP9SK and P365. The Walther is the new match handgun and for home defense. Open to all suggestions :)

If you want an optic on the PDP get the Holosun SCR made for the Walther optics cut as a direct mount, no plate needed. Same solution as the Glock MOS. Damn good optic.

I ordered the vertex defender XL for it uses the DPP footprint. Also ordered the Mechanik(Caniks sight) which uses the Trijicon Footprint. Both open emitters about 5/6 Moa for Comp.

Looking to stay in 9MM? What about budget?
Apprehensive-Set-502@reddit (OP)
Yeah for sure trying to stay with 9mm. I like to train on one platform of gun before I move on to something next. Budget I’m open to mostly anything, I have tried out the 2011 Trend with both the Stacatto P and OA Defense 2311. Triggers are crazy on hammer fired guns but I think I prefer my striker-fired handguns
HoodZ3@reddit
I like that of the ones you've pictured here, these were three of the first four 9MM handguns I bought as well. After these I got a Glock 45, and a S&W M&P 2.0 for striker-fired options. (I got bit by the 1911/2011 bug after this.)
Apprehensive-Set-502@reddit (OP)
For some reason I been trying to not get the bug. I have been so close but for some reason my subconscious is telling me not to lol
JimMarch@reddit
Rig something you already have with a gas pedal. Changes everything.
HoodZ3@reddit
Nothing wrong with it either way, but your wallet will thank you without a doubt. Firearms are already an expensive hobby - 1911/2011 prices are pretty insane, and that's before you even get into the really custom stuff, lol. Striker-fired are still awesome and a blast to shoot.
Apprehensive-Set-502@reddit (OP)
Yeah I was all over the place when I was picking up my PDP was a last minute thing. I went from look at a Jacob Grey to ending up with a PDP. Yeah the 1911/2011 prices are nutty. It’s like it’s a budget entry for like 2-3k jumps up to like 5k and up. Like the Atlas Gun Works, Nighthawk, etc.
TacTurtle@reddit
S&W 986 or 327 9mm revolvers?
Apprehensive-Set-502@reddit (OP)
I heard Cajun Gun Works does some voodoo on those CZ triggers
JimMarch@reddit
You've got carry, home defense and competition dialed in.
So the question is, what do you NEED? Woods carry? 10mm if you're sticking with this manual of arms (same as all three of what you have, which is good).
AldoSig228@reddit
Every collection needs a good revolver, maybe a nice 357 Magnum.
Apprehensive-Set-502@reddit (OP)
Colt or S&W? Little snubby or a full size
AldoSig228@reddit
Maybe even a nice 2 inch revolver in 357..its a mighty fine hideout gun. You won't ever feel underguned carrying a 357 in your jackets pocket on a dark night. Good luck 👍
AldoSig228@reddit
I think either brand is finewá
Milksmither@reddit
Both and both.
If you have no intention of carrying it, get a big one.

S&W M&P M2.0

I would recommend IWI Masada for striker fired, I love mine. Also hearing good things about Springfield Echelon. Have you thought about a hammer fired 9mm like the CZ-75 or IWI Jericho?
Apprehensive-Set-502@reddit (OP)
Cz yes I heard of but the IWI never did.
Karddet@reddit

There's a link to the iwi website for specs, I picked mine up off of Palmetto State Armory for 500 bucks, used Sezzle to pay it in 4 payments. I'd say I've put roughly a thousand rounds through it with zero issues. The Tactical version comes with a threaded barrel and optic cut slide, there aren't a ton of aftermarket upgrades, but there are a few options for recoil dampening guide rods

CZ Shadow 2. Thank me later.

Great gun
SniperSRSRecon@reddit
If you want a 45, the fnx-t is a great gun. 5.7 is also great if price isn’t an issue.
Apprehensive-Set-502@reddit (OP)
How is FN don’t know many people who own one. The FN reflex was gonna be my cc but heard about the feeding ramp issues so was discouraged
SniperSRSRecon@reddit
I can’t comment on the reflex as I haven’t shot one, but fn is typically compared to hk for quality. I’ve had 0 issues after break in periods with my 3 modern fn’s and 1 older fn (made in the 90s).
coy-coyote@reddit
I got an FN about a decade ago when retail was about 1200. Did about 300 rounds before I got priced out of the ammo market on it.. and sold it for 800. My only gripe was at the time they wanted you to send in the gun every 2000 rounds for maintenance if you wanted to keep the lifetime warranty. I hear it’s not a problem now. Loud gun, but goddamn it was a blast plinking a 2x2 at 15 and 25 yards without any issue.
LoenSlave@reddit
No more handgun, more ammo!
Apprehensive-Set-502@reddit (OP)
Buying a box of 1000 every 2 weeks 😅
LoenSlave@reddit
If you are shooting matches with the Walther, get another one as a backup. Honestly, the handgun market is really boring these days, because they are all great guns, at the end of the day it's your skills that matters most. Unless you want to try and compete in a different division, I'd say you've got everything you need.
Apprehensive-Set-502@reddit (OP)
Very true. Been thinking about being a simple man and getting a G19 just in case SHITF
No-Huckleberry-3063@reddit
Have you thought about getting one in the 1911 or 2011 platform?
Apprehensive-Set-502@reddit (OP)
For some reason I have been avoiding it, idk why
sea_5455@reddit
They're great shooters, no question.
If you're looking to stay striker, thought about the S&W M&P 2.0 Competitor series? FLGS had one tricked out that I don't see on Smith's site. Ramjet, flared mag well, etc.
Apprehensive-Set-502@reddit (OP)
Yeah they def are just I’ll know I’ll never go back to a striker fired again. I actually chose the PDP match over the S&W Comp, seems like it hit the hand better
sea_5455@reddit
Fair enough. I've been getting into cans rather than new pistols, but do like Walther.
Apprehensive-Set-502@reddit (OP)
Walther is boring but gets the job done! The pro triggers they put on them are on par with the Canik TTI combat! Probably my stock triggers currently. Yeah man I wish I could have a can I live in New Jersey(Germany)
the_voivode@reddit
Saw a recommendation post. Was gonna come recommend milsurp options.Realized I have no place in this conversation.
Apprehensive-Set-502@reddit (OP)
Open to anything brotha
MM_Spartan@reddit
I haven’t shot one yet, but I keep hearing more and more praise for the Springfield Echelon. I think it’s gonna be my next handgun. I had an XD Mod 2 and loved it, so I think the Echelon will be an even bigger step up.
Or go with something cool like the Keltec PR57 if you want to be the envy of all your friends.
HoodZ3@reddit
I was really impressed with the Echelon. I didn't expect to like it nearly as much as I ended up liking it. Have honestly been considering a second one, since my wife also really enjoys it.
MM_Spartan@reddit
I regret selling my Mod 2 (bought Hellcat RDP) as it has been the best feeling pistol I’ve ever shot. I’d imagine the Echelon is even better.
Is yours the full size or the compact?
HoodZ3@reddit
Full size. It really is an amazing handgun for the price. I think you'll be happy with it for sure.
Apprehensive-Set-502@reddit (OP)
Will check it out thank you!
