I wonder if it's possible to make this but treat it like a sausage casserole with the addition of tomato paste, onion, garlic, bay leaf, fresh herbs, cheap root veg (turnips+ carrots+potatoes+celery) and maybe some chicken liver or heart or crisy tofu fried separately and stirred in at the end.
