I have $850 in flight credits (i cancelled a trip to ireand last year) that NEED to be used (bought and fly) by July. I can't go anywhere until the fall. they refused my request to extend them. what can I do? would buying a refundable flight and then refunding it before the flight essentially reset it? thanks for any help in advance

UA has a refund with fee policy that is expiring soon for Nonrefundable US originating tickets as long as it was not travel to China. Call UA and see if you qualify. If you apply a nonrefundable ticket towards a refundable ticket, the nonrefundable amount stays nonrefundable. The validity of your ticket does not get extended to your new ticket date if you exchange it.

Resell it to an anonymous mouse who wants to take a trip? :)
