State owned Chinese auto manufacturer FAW Group quietly debut this V12 powered Hongqi SUV concept at the 2008 Beijing Motor Show; the concept would not enter production and was never even given a name..

Weird with the separate back seats that look the same as the front seats. Seems very unpractical with that huge gap between them allowing luggage in back to fly forward when you brake.

MUV, Meh Utility Vehicle

Sounds like a good description of every SUV.
MGPS@reddit
Ok I’ll name it…
The Hongqi Tonk
humble-bragging@reddit
Very funny. BTW, in Chinese, Hongqi means red flag which I guess doesn't sound bad to them.
future_lard@reddit
Its called honkie?
carn1vore@reddit
Hey, that’s our word. You can’t say it.
The_Nabisco_Thing@reddit (OP)
Sort-of it's actually pronounced Hong-"Chi"
T5-R@reddit
Looks like it needs an antihistamine
blackbeansandrice@reddit
The front end has way too much going on. The shapes don’t harmonize with each other. It looks pieced together from different vehicles and the hood ornament is a strange flourish.

Better than that electric Rolls Royce ripoff they are currently selling...

I have funny feelings about this. I think I'm sexually attracted to it. That, or there's something deeply wrong with me.

Some sort of weird Chrysler, Lincoln, Buick hybrid. I dont like it!
AndrewIsntCool@reddit
Immediate thought was the first gen Nissan Murano, I don't exactly see it but somehow the shape says it
RevolutionaryBed5211@reddit
You’re completely right. The interior as well has a Murano vibe.
JVSP1873@reddit
the front end reminds me of a Porsche SUV
Modo44@reddit
That hybrid styling might be the point. Or the natural extrapolation of all brands arriving at the same ~5 bloody car designs.
Skeptic_Juggernaut84@reddit
Yeah, they just cut and paste the bodies of three different cars to make this. Although, the inside is kinda nice.

Ended up in the Sultan of Brunei’s collection

It absolutely looks like something he would be into! ... This car is housed at the FAW Hongqi Cultural Exhibition Hall and gets put up on display on a rotational basis..

I feel like it should be an unwritten rule that you have to post engine pics if it is above a V8. I saw your comment with the picture but still lol
The_Nabisco_Thing@reddit (OP)
That's a good rule lol! ..... I tried to find an engine shot, but pics of this guy are pretty slim..

“Was never even given a name”
Ummm… what about the numberplate which says “Hongqi SUV”?
The_Nabisco_Thing@reddit (OP)
That seems like more of a description of what it is instead of a proper name, but who knows...
Which-Technician2367@reddit
Focus ST wheels but bigger
C4PTNK0R34@reddit
It's like a Buick Rendezvous and a Nissan Murano had an incest baby.
Hongqi Rendezrano?
marvinsroom1956@reddit
Chinese Nissan Murano
KathyJaneway@reddit
Looks like a Peugeot 3008. The 2008-2015 ones.
bobwasnthere99999@reddit
How frickin tiny was that V12?!
The_Nabisco_Thing@reddit (OP)
Supposedly it was this guy:

The Lincoln Imitator
SjalabaisWoWS@reddit
Terrible, and it makes 2008 seem like a very long time ago. Please don't remind me that it actually is. Here in Norway, we can buy the EHS9 and EHS7. Owners haven't been all kind reporting quite a few issues with these cars. I still find it mindblowing how commoners can buy a formerly party-big-shots-only brand from a capitalist hellscape that is also communist run - on the cheap. Love seeing these oddities on the road.

Mazda 9, ford focus, whale hybrid. I like it.

The Murano at home, but with waaay worse fuel economy:
goodneed@reddit
We have Murano in Shanghai.
topazchip@reddit
Sure, but Nissan lacks the sense of humor required to make a V12 engine.
goodneed@reddit
Transverse, siamesed blocks, like a Cizeta!
Iridefatbikes@reddit
I don't hate it but I definitely don't love it. Looks.... odd.
nonfading@reddit
I like interior
Poenicus@reddit
It almost looks like what you'd get if you took a Nissan Juke and gave it styling cues from a few Lincoln models.
