There should be only ONE seat in the front row of seats in land vehicles and it should be centered: The "pilot" or "driver" seat. Minivan? No problem lots of seats behind the pilots seat. Get in bitch

This is actually a really good idea.
Most cars only ever have one personn in then at a time, if we made cars thinner, we could double the amount of lanes and cure road congestion.
OP you crazy sonofabitch you've done it
SummertimeThrowaway2@reddit
Lanes need to fit the biggest vehicles on the road
Make skinny semi trucks! Skinny fire trucks too!
Cutsdeep-@reddit
Make their horns and sirens much more higher pitched to match
alvik@reddit
And while we're making the cars thinner, they'll need to be shorter as well. But 4 wheels might be a tipping hazard, so let's get rid of two of them.
Cutsdeep-@reddit
Maybe make them more open so you can feel the breeze and I'll have an excuse to wear lycra
Better_Barracuda_787@reddit
Yeah, let's get rid of the roof all together. Just wear a helmet, you'll be fine.
Adventurous_Bat_3999@reddit
Using gas is bad for the environment, they could just be powered by spinning a wheel with your feet
ddollarsign@reddit
In fact, do we really need two wheels? People can learn to balance well enough on one, and the second one just adds unnecessary weight.
fender8421@reddit
If you do have two wheels, make sure one is way fucking bigger than the other
Dreyel@reddit
Look up the Italdesign Columbus
MacGregor1337@reddit
Sure, but then I want to drive in the middle of the road.
XROOR@reddit
Driver should be renamed:
Pilot in Control
And the McDonalds parking spaces for very large orders you have to wait for:
Hangar
duggoluvr@reddit
See I think the driver seat should stay where it is, but delete the passenger seat and replace it with a minifridge stocked with the driver’s favorite alcoholic beverages
Ateist@reddit
How will you have sex in the backseat like this?
FoxtrotSierraTango@reddit
Tesla's semi truck had a centered seat. The drivers were not a fan:

The reason the drivers seat is off center is to make sure they know where the divider between lanes is. In the US, where we drive in the right side, the driver sits on the left so they are extra aware of oncoming vehicles. In the UK it’s swapped but for the same reason

The McLaren F1 did this

That looks awkward as hell to get into
its_all_4_lulz@reddit
Driver parks… “let me just roll out of this seat, grinding your leg, while I check the mail quick”.
Weztinlaar@reddit
I forgot about the McLaren F1 minivan
keen-peach@reddit
How will I reach my purse or drink my sideways sodas? Where will I put loose receipts or coat when I get hot mid-journey? I think we’re underestimating the usefulness of the passenger seat here.
fender8421@reddit
It won't matter because you won't be able to reach the drive-thru from the middle anyways
keen-peach@reddit
Huh?
fender8421@reddit
A while back I randomly came across a discussion about this topic, and one of the major downsides with drivers being in the middle was being further from the window in regards to toll boths, drive thrus, gate buttons, etc.
keen-peach@reddit
Oh that’s true! Yea, this idea sucks.
Occidentally20@reddit
You could have a chest of drawers on one side and a bedside table on the other
theSchrodingerHat@reddit
You aren’t thinking crazy enough: an air fryer on one side to keep those McDonald’s fries in the prime of their life, and a 24” TV with cellular hotspot so you can stream White Lotus while running errands on the other.
Probably enough room that the TV can be sit on a five gallon refrigerated Diet Coke dispenser as well. Gotta keep that sody topped off.
tggfurxddu6t@reddit
My fries. Literally anything
keen-peach@reddit
Exactly. Am I supposed to eat my takeout from my lap like some caveman?
megamanx4321@reddit
The McClaren F1 has 3 seats, and the driver's seat is in the middle.
Shmolti@reddit
So every vehicle just loses a seat and now you can't see well enough to pass safely anymore? lol
ddollarsign@reddit
We move the passenger seat to the roof. Now we have a place for a lookout, who can tell you if it's safe to pass.
Shmolti@reddit
Fuck ya give this guy a raise

Check out the concept for the Italidesign columbus. A single concept was made, kinda looks like a prius getting fucked by a panel van
ExcellentNobody8129@reddit
Has been done several times throughout the years....at least on prototypes but it never really caught on because in a lot of countries, the roads aren't as wide as in the use and drivers passes other cars very regularly . Center positioning become a real safety issue...
Prototype with center seating, one of many examples...https://oldconceptcars.com/wp-content/uploads/citroen_karin_concept_by_coggiola_7.jpg
husky_whisperer@reddit
Drive-thru restaurants hate this one simple trick
zzupdown@reddit
I don't know. I think some people might think the front row passenger seat should be for the navigator or copilot, somebody who could assist the driver in some way.
Back in the stagecoach days, it literally was reserved for the security guy holding the shotgun, hence "riding shotgun".
shroomigator@reddit
Then where is the dog supposed to sit?
ideasReverywhere@reddit (OP)
The main seat will be bigger since theirs extra space so dog sit on lap
Physical_Floor_8006@reddit
Tell me you're not getting laid without telling me you're not getting laid lmao.
Inner_Painting_8329@reddit
Op hates safety and has no friends.
lemelisk42@reddit
Decreases safety. Makes it harder to see around the car ahead of you. Makes it harder to guess where the lines are. Makes it less social.
I don't really get the point
