Which is that one car you have, that you can’t get enough of, no matter how much you drive it?

my w204 c63 p31. It's a 2013 with the updated transmission.
I think these might be some of the best sport sedans ever made. The engine is a real gem. It's actually a fairly reliable thing in the later model years with some of the kinks worked out. It does the dual nature luxury car/muscle sedan thing beautifully.
It's got a fantastic personality. It's easy going, friendly, and not particularly difficult to drive. It's not as rapid as some of the later model turbo stuff, but it's 480 hp in a sub 3800lb sedan. It's still got monstrous performance out of the box. More than you can reasonably exploit on the street.
The car runs a hydraulic steering rack with a relatively quick ratio. The steering is fantastic. The brakes are also excellent. I find myself using the chassis, steering, and brakes to dive bomb corners or make turning lights more than I might use the power in my daily commute.
I keep thinking about selling it. Like all high performance German cars, you're only a few issues away from an expensive repair bill. But on the other hand, what would I replace it with I would enjoy more?
hi_im_bored13@reddit
never selling my s2000
jse000@reddit
Same, but now I kinda want an AP1 also
NoLeadership6832@reddit
Seconded by a S2000 owner.
Big_Flan_4492@reddit
Im never selling my CTR lol.
TheReaperSovereign@reddit
I sold mine and got an m240 because I wanted something a lot more comfortable on a daily basis. I might have considered an ITS but 55k for the same power train I got for 38k, 7 years ago was not a pill I was willing to swallow.
Big_Flan_4492@reddit
Damn, you should have considered the ITS ADS Module swap. That would have been a game changer. The roads here are good so I never had a problem with the stiff ride
TheReaperSovereign@reddit
Oh the ride was fine. I had a fk8 which was softer anyway
Mostly features like heated seats, steering, lumbar etc. The buckets got old after 6 years
hi_im_bored13@reddit
Thing with the CTR is they’ll do up a new one at some point with better packaging, suspension improvements, better infotainment, it has to deal with that balance of being a daily and so it will always have come compromise.
With the s2k it was a one-and-done passion project for and by uehara, fewer compromises, more focused, obviously feels like it too. And the top goes down
CTR is still a great car don’t get me wrong, had an fl5 for a good while, fantastic daily and great fun in a back road, but it didn’t give me quite the same feeling of attachment and specialty as the s2k
I think the only other USDM honda/acura that I would genuinely never sell if I had one would be a zanardi nsx
AngryScottish@reddit
I suspect there will be lots of S2000 replies. Understandably, it's just that good.
A lot of cars will out perform it in every metric, but most are all pretty soulless comparatively speaking.
StevoJ89@reddit
My 2012 Range Rover Sport supercharged.
I know it's a high maintenance vehicle but everytime I drive it I just smile it's such an incredible machine.
TookEverything@reddit
The Supra’s honestly surprised me. I had my qualms about its BMW-ness when I first bought it 4 years ago just like everyone else, but it has taken everything I’ve thrown at it and asked for more, with absolutely zero hiccups (🤞). Mods, frequent track days, frequent road trips, everything. I love this car today even more than the day I bought it.
Glad I PPF’d it when I got it because I’m not selling it, and it still looks new.
RyanGreener@reddit
I've owned and driven a lot of cars the NB1 will probably be the car that always stays with me. Lightweight, naturally aspirated, throttle cable, no ABS, no traction control....just such a pure experience.
Ceolan@reddit
I haven't even had it a year yet, but it would be my M240i, at least for now. It was my attainable dream car. I autocross it, find any excuse to drive it. It just does everything so well. This is my 9th car, but by far my most expensive. I am really hoping I don't get tired of it like all my other previous cars. To be fair, none of them were near this level of performance. Closest would have been 350Z DE, which was my favorite before this.
sendme_your_cats@reddit
M340i here, I agree fully. Especially with mhd, xhp and a fun intake. Makes every drive memorable
TrumpAndKamalaSucks@reddit
I got tired of the m340i after 6 months. Sold it after 10 months. It's a one trick pony that gets old pretty fast. Like an electric car that can accelerate fast.
TheReaperSovereign@reddit
Only complaint is steering feel. Wish it was better. Otherwise I'm really happy with mine.
DrunkenReindeer@reddit
I want to keep the Viper forever. I'll never get tired of looking at or driving it. That car is special.
sc0lm00@reddit
I want one so bad. I'm just worried about insurance and replacement parts.
DrunkenReindeer@reddit
So replacement parts are all about knowing the scrappers, the rebuilders, and the legitimate Viper specific parts stores. I have a list of vendors that I shop from and that's it. Dodge isn't going to have much of anything available at the dealerships anymore.
For insurance. It's really not that bad. Granted I have multi-line discounts, but I pay less than $600 per 6 months for mine.
sc0lm00@reddit
That's not bad. I was led to believe it was like $1200+ avg every 6 months. Of course everyone is different and doesn't tell you their history. I'm hoping in the next couple years I can get serious about it assuming prices don't go to the moon.
DrunkenReindeer@reddit
Well best of luck man. The secret is to join the FB groups. You find the well taken care of cars for sale listed there by private owners.
sc0lm00@reddit
Already there lol
bgst3@reddit
1980 BMW 3 series it's slow and slightly unreliable but it's the most enjoyable car I've owned to cruise around.
hundredjono@reddit
Bought it with 2 miles on the odometer, and now I have almost 55,000 miles
Blankok93@reddit
For now, my 15 Fiesta ST. It just need another 50 horsepower to be perfect
xlb250@reddit
None… I usually replace cars every 3 years
PlatinumElement@reddit
Based on your flair, I think you should try out a suggestion from this thread, it could change your life!
xlb250@reddit
That’s how I ended up with the Mustang. Drove/rented some cars around my budget and that was my favorite overall. Also cars out of budget like Cayman and 911.
But for me, over time the novelty wears off for street use. I find it really boring compared to track. Now I’m leaning more toward comfort-focused crossovers for street lol.
For track, street car seems like a compromise. They are complicated and overweight. When you tune them for track (alignment, tires, brakes, etc), it makes them worse on street.
Starting to look into toy vehicles for the enthusiast side of the hobby. Kart and supermoto looks like fun. Can a street car match them in purity and visceral feel?
PlatinumElement@reddit
Depends on where you live because of state regulations, but cars like the Caterham 7, Honda Beat, and vintage cars like various 50’s and 60’s British roadsters might scratch your etch. Also, my apologies, I read Mach-1 as Mach-E. Those cars couldn’t be more different.
fiddlythingsATX@reddit
My 944S2 convertible. It's absolutely a joy every single time I drive it, and I smile every time I see it. It's not the fastest, it's not the most practical, and honestly the soft top is a pain, but I love it so damn much.

Interesting
AngryScottish@reddit
I had a S2000, which is basically automotive perfection.
But now I have a Noble. Not as precise as the S2000, but does 60-120mph in 3.2s, which makes up for some of the bliss the S2000 was to drive.
strongmanass@reddit
Your Noble is faster from 60-120 mph than a Bugatti Chiron?
AngryScottish@reddit
I can't speak to the Bugatti. My Noble is also not stock, 2380lbs, ~650whp. Crossed a quarter mile at 155mph.
cilantno@reddit
Post the draggy!!!
cilantno@reddit
I’d drive my car for 12+ hours a day on the right roads if I had the time.
Temporary-Art-7078@reddit
My current car. I bet quite a few people answer similarly.
Temporary-Art-7078@reddit
Its a '22 RS7
swimmingbaconator@reddit
While I have a bunch of cool cars, my ‘never sell’ is my 1985 Omni GLH (runs 11s in the 1/4 on slicks), the 1986 Shelby GLHS (one of only 500 and so fun to drive), and last but not least, my 1991 GMC Syclone (stupid fast for the time, and still does great stoplight races) (runs low 12s on pump gas and drag radials).

Senna.
YoureMadImBackBigMac@reddit
Hell yeah sounds like a monster. If you don’t mind me asking, what do you do for work? We’re all curious

Finance but a lot of my toys are funded through real estate.
FWD_to_twin_turbo@reddit
It's not a car, but my International 9400i is the one vehicle i can't get rid of.
Otherwise, i haven't owned/driven a car i wouldn't sell.
dryheat602@reddit
My CTS-V Coupe with a stage 3 kit. 700 RWHP. I’d sleep in it but it’s not very comfortable. Did I mention 700RWHP?
Shot_Lynx_4023@reddit
My Peasant spec Camaro. The GM Alpha chassis is so phenomenal at communicating handling. One feels like a surgeon carving up corners, and that's with the lackluster OE Goodyear Eagle sport tires. I can't wait to see how it feels with Bridgestone Potenza sport tires.
The snickity snick of the 6 speed manual transmission, which is geared perfectly to keep you right in the boost of the 2.0T. which, has enough torque down low to get almost 30 MPG, if you stay under 75 MPH. Or, get to 60 in under 5.5 seconds. Quarter is 14 flat. Top speed 147 MPH. Even then, still can get 22 MPG cruising at 85-90 MPH, and the engine is only turning 2500 RPM. 7000 RPM redline.
Of course one must utilize proper seating position, and adjust mirrors accordingly, and the visibility issues the Internet speaks of, don't exist. The leather wrapped wheel, tilts and telescopes, and power seat is indefinitely adjustable.
And, of course the best part. How inexpensive it was brand new. Same price as a Honda Civic sport or Toyota Corolla
Disclaimer, of course I would Prefer a SS or ZL1. When I bought this car, I had many contestants of up to $35k.
The Toyota GR 86 was a good car, but the ones in stock were closer to $35k. I really wanted a Miata, but, none within 100 miles of me. I also liked the S550 Ecoboost Mustang 6MT. All the ones were automatic, and loaded in my region. Subaru WRX, was another one, but couldn't justify the price increase from $27,750-$35k for less performance and I already have a FWD 5 speed manual winter car, with steel wheels and dedicated winter tires. The Honda Civic Si was too expensive and exclusive at the time, only 1 in my region and dealerships acting like it was a Type R.
I'm accumulating cars at this stage in life, so logic is, buy it new, take care of it, pay it off, repeat again
Rude-Manufacturer-86@reddit
*Had. Toyota MR2 Spyder.
Random_Introvert_42@reddit
My MX5.
Gotten some rather impressive offers, but I'm keeping it forever\^\^

First gen Speed3. Mechanical LSD, torque steer, turbo.
Newer cars I've driven are too vague.
ParappaTheWrapperr@reddit
My challenger now that all these tariffs have taken place. I’m going to be driving this till the wheels fall off.
beermaker@reddit
My 68 IHC Scout. It's fun and engaging to drive and simple to maintain and repair.
Jabin04@reddit
GR86, it has so much character and only 2800 pounds. manual and rwd too. exhaust crackles and engine signs to 7400 rpm. next car for me would probably be a lotus exige if i can ever afford one
bikewrench11@reddit
My Abarth 500 never fails to put a smile on my face. The old "more fun to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow" I have had faster cars that feel more boring.
AndroidUser37@reddit
The funny thing is for me, it's the opposite of what most people think. I can't get enough of my daily driver. I enjoy driving it all the time, everywhere, on road trips, commute, etc. I'll never get tired of dailying it, because it fulfills my needs perfectly, and fits me like a glove.
The strange contrast is that my project car, I can get enough of. Driving it too often, it loses the "special" feel, and I get tired of it (especially the weight of the clutch in traffic). It's best when I take it out every once in a while on a sunny backroad and push it to the limit, become connected with the machine.
TheWolfofBinance@reddit
My Giulia for now. I normally like light weight, manual transmission cars. I don't know what it is about this one though. It gets under your skin. I've had dreams of driving it. I've had nightmares of selling it.
plumriv@reddit
I have ten cars including three late models and several 60’s collector cars plus a ‘99 Mercedes SL500. I just love driving the SL.

My tesla because it's worth nothing and I can't afford to trade it out. Lol
It's been a pretty good car though. I've yet to drive a car I'd want to own forever.
