Feb NJ interviews

I’m Just curious if anyone who interviewed in February has gotten their decision yet. They said 6-8 weeks but some of the January people aren’t hearing until 9-10. Just trying to get an idea of a realistic timeframe. Let me know if anyone has some insight!

I interviewed the first week of February and they told me the same 6-8 weeks . Got the CJO after 7 weeks My TT 1650 and 700 turbine sic . In my group there were 2 CFI’s and even one guy with R-ATP mins

What they saying for upgrade times? I would say if you were hired today probably 8+ years
rjjamenson@reddit
They didn’t bring it up , I know right now for the phenom and latitude it’s roughly 2-2.5 years

Ya I have been through 2 recurrent and haven’t upgraded, I’m probably looking at another year. Hired today? Probably 7-8

It’s 2-2.5 years if you were hired in 2023. New hires right now are probably looking at 5 years unless NetJets experiences another wave of rapid growth

Good to know, I was second week of Feb, currently sitting at 7weeks and crickets. Hoping to get some kind of news soon!

Hiring has slowed significantly and they have cut their hiring goals in half for this year. This is attributed to the manufacturers unable to deliver airframes on time.

I’m aware of this, I was mainly seeing if anyone else who went to Columbus to interview in February has gotten a hire/ no hire decision yet.

Understood. I’m more so getting at their hiring is incredibly fluid and seems to change by day (due to more information becoming available). Due to this, the timeframe they gave you to hear back is also subject to change (as we have seen for pretty much every interview group)

Just curious, what was your TT and TPIC (if any)?
Intelligent_Bat3436@reddit (OP)
~2200, ~1650 multi turbine. TPIC 450ish. ATP done

Man if you’re out here with these hrs waiting to hear back all of us CFI’s with atp mins are cooked 😃

To be fair, NJ I don’t think emphasizes hours as much if you are at mins. They care more about customer service and how you present yourself as a professional.
When did you interview?
capsug@reddit
That’s basically every employer. Dirty little secret is if they can get you on their insurance (which is very often significantly lower than what they say it is and often something they can make happen even for people below hours) they will almost 100% of the time hire the person they just like better regardless of flight experience.
Much of the online discourse about the pilot job market is just not grounded in reality. A bunch of people playing the wrong game and feeling lost as a result.

This is definitely true, but when things are more competitive it's harder to get past the initial filter. When there are fewer slots to fill I'm sure they can find plenty of people they like who also have more experience, a degree, fewer failures, volunteer time, etc. It's pretty incontrovertible that competitive mins have gone up considerably recently.

Having competitive hours will always help as a pilot

I did not even get to interview my dreams were shattered with an instant TBNT lmao

Historically I think NJ has been pretty competitive. Just like other places that are solid career destinations, there was a brief window where it was easier to get on with lower experience, but that's trending back up industrywide. If it's where you want to be, keep applying, but I wouldn't turn down other good stepping stones in the meantime.
