Did any of you guys get obsessed with this PBS show as a kid? To me, this show was more exciting than Punky Brewster at the time, MathNet was EVERYTHING.

There won't be a problem with the parade, Chief. There won't be a parade. Steve Stringbean's been kidnapped.

(I’m so glad someone got the reference!)

37 * 3 = 111. 37 * 6 = 222. 37 * 9 = 333. 37 * 12 = 444. Now, what do you multiply by 37 to get 555?
That pattern is awesome.
2099AD@reddit
Square One taught me how to make sure I'm always correctly multiplying by 9: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q53GmMCqmAM

Reg E Cathey! Later on The Wire and House of Cards.

🎵 times any number you can find, it all adds up to nine! 🎵

This is my jam! I vaguely remember watching the show and the mathnet and mathman segments, but i always remembered this song vividly. (I even played the video for my 10 year old step daughter about 6 months ago, but she wasn't too impressed 😅)
theluzah@reddit (OP)
OMG yes lol I still use this to check myself, too lol

Where the problems are made up, but the math is real.
NurkleTurkey@reddit
I remember an episode of Mathnet where someone lost a parrot that only responded by using the fibbonaci sequence 😂
MonkeyChoker80@reddit
I believe that was the very First episode of Mathnet.
JuicySparkle@reddit
Damn then my memory is better than I thought.
How about the android baseball player? 😂

I found this sketch really disturbing as a kid lol. I think it was the weird environment (I know it was supposed to be pacman), the weird music, and how he would freak out and die if he got a question wrong.
MonkeyChoker80@reddit
Yeah.
But those (very) few times he succeeded and made it through…?
So much cheering from me and my siblings.
twoworldsin1@reddit
Yeah, the bad guy (Mr. Glitch?) really replicated the feeling of intense anxiety of being called up to the board in math class 😬
Nice_Guy_Rod@reddit
Fuck yes! I loved this show! It was on PBS right after 321 Contact.
GoodyChaos@reddit
PBS Kids.... AAASSSEEEMMMBBBLLLEEEEE!!
DHammer79@reddit
My guess is Mathnet was the inspiration for Odd Squad.
RoyalZeal@reddit
This was one of the first things I would watch coming home from school around 4th grade, mathnet was my jam.
theluzah@reddit (OP)
Right? It came on before Jem and TMNT but honestly I could have survived on just Square One lol Carmen Sandiego WAS SO MUCH FUN TOOOOO!!! I had the MSDOS/windows 3.x version of the game and played that incessantly!
_ism_@reddit
did you know Greg Lee starred in both Mathnet and Carmen Sandiego??
DeadpoolAndFriends@reddit
TMNT in the afternoon?! Lucky. It came on at 7:00 a.m. for me. Commercial brakes with hit, I have to scramble to get dressed, brush teeth, or finish any homework, because as soon as it ended I had to be out the door for the bus.
Even worse, GI Joe came on at 6:30 a.m. My favorite damn show in the whole world, and I could barely keep my eyes open.
TwistingEcho@reddit
Tried to explain this to my freinds and work colleagues throughout the years to no avail. A beautiful psychic break. Once I finally remembered the name of the show last year, I was finally able to chuck it on for my kids!

darumamaki@reddit
Square One was my favorite show when it was on! Mathman gave me anxiety, but Mathnet was glorious. Little kid me was writing fanfic about it before I even knew what fanfic or the internet even was.
