I don’t really get brands doing this. Like Benz selling one Uhlenhaut Coupé a while ago. Are they that desperate for cash? Or do they want the publicity? I think this absolutely destroys brand value. I’d like to be able to see special cars at museums or have the historic departments show them off driving at motoring events. Maybe even offer passenger laps to fans for a change. Selling them to the highest bidder ends them up in a big private collection. What a waste.
Its only sibling was sold from the museum in May 2022 to a private collector for €135 million (£114 million or US$142 million) with the proceeds used to establish the Mercedes-Benz Fund
In 2023, the Mercedes-Benz Fund strategically aligned its funding programme to prioritise the cultivation and application of future skills in order to bolster Germany's sustainability, innovative prowess, and competitive edge in an evolving global landscape.
And it still needs to be serviced at mercedes, mercedes can borrow it whenever they’d like, if the owner wants to sell they have to sell back to mercedes.
I am fully convinced that sale was done purely so mercedes could claim the worlds most expensive car over the 250 gto and raise the perceived value of their brand.
I was looking for a sporty diesel because my commute got longer but with great potential for high speed due to a large portion being unrestricted Autobahn where my current TT isn't too economical in that regard, so I figure an R18 will fix that.
Where can I write Audi for a trade in? I mean my 2015 vs their 2012 can probably come out as a 1:1 but if they play tough I'm willing to pay couple bucks extra if needed

Maintaining a hybrid LMP car is going to be a nightmare I'm sure.

Those class 1 DTM cars were so dope, shame that series is just another generic gt3 one now
