Sounds like the biz model of F1 Authentics is spreading. Not throwing shade at Honda Racing here but there have been issues with authenticity and whether items labeled race-used are legit. There's also something a lil' sad about parting out an historic car for dollars.

They're not parting out cars from what I read... Just pieces of engines. Back then teams used many engines in a season... And I believe they always went back to the manufacturer for tear down. Probably reused the blocks.
For all we know this is internals from an engine used in preseason practice... Sent back for disassembly and inspection, and the parts are sitting in a box in a warehouse.

There's a video of the engine being disassembled on the Honda Racing Global YouTube channel. It says at the start that this particular engine was used by Senna during the 1990 Australian Grand Prix at Adelaide

Okay? So they're just selling used parts from engines the decommissioned.. which is what I said

Totally understand multiple engines per season and lots of spare parts but I didn’t see them say “spare” parts specifically. Could very well be that they’re being coy about that on purpose to generate buzz or I missed it. Selling leftover spare parts isn’t as sexy as auctioning parts of Senna’s race-used car, obviously.

Agreed... That is just my perception of what is probably actually going on. Dismantling a senna car worth what.... 10-20-50 million?,.... Wouldn't make sense.
Selling off used parts that have no real value otherwise and will never be used again... For hundreds to thousands per piece .. makes total sense.

Need money for the Nissan merger?
I’d rather them preserving the engine to be admired at their museum for eternity.

They used a lot of engines back then. There was no limit to how many they could use, or how often they were updated during the season.
In 1995 Ferrari took 17 engines to Suzuka according to Binotto

Honda Racing Corporation will auction off engine parts from Ayrton Senna’s 1990 Formula 1 race car. The auction is part of HRC’s new memorabilia business, which will eventually include other historic items from its motorsports collection. The first auction will be held during Monterey Car Week in August, and available parts from Honda’s RA100E V-10 include camshafts and pistons.
