Anyone else thinking about buying a fun car but hesitating due to the market here in the US? I was wanting to sell my Cayman to get an R8, but with everything going on I'm thinking of just holding my cash and car for now.

Turning in Infiniti Q 50 this fall. Leasing. Want a sweet sedan; tired of SUV’s. Thanks for the suggestions

Why can’t we have affordable, mid-sized sports-looking cars?
I’ve been thinking why don’t we have more affordable sports-looking cars? I’m talking about 2-seater or small coupe-style cars that look like an Audi R8, BMW i8, or even resemble the shape of Lambos and Ferraris but for us normal people who can’t drop six figures on a car.
It doesn’t even have to be crazy fast. Honestly, something with similar power to a BMW M440i would be perfect. That car has plenty of power for regular daily driving, even some spirited fun, while still being usable in the city. Not everyone needs 600+ horsepower or a supercar badge. We just want something that looks the part, drives well, and doesn’t require you to sell your house to buy it.
I genuinely think if someone made a car like this sporty design, mid-size, decent power, and somewhat affordable it would sell like crazy.
What do you all think?

Theoretically, if I put rubbing alcohol in my windshield wiper fluid, would that help to defrost my windshield on a frozen day? Or is that bad for something?
ConfusedTapeworm@reddit
Theoretically, a thin (10% or so) solution of isopropyl alcohol does work well enough to prevent freezing, and is safe to use with the kind of materials that it'll be touching on your car.
It might be cheaper to buy a big jug of wiper fluid though.
HimTiser@reddit
Isopropyl alcohol and rubber don’t really get along, will eventually swell, crack, and generally degrade and rubber lines or gaskets.
unatleticodemadrid@reddit
Regular washer fluid already contains methanol, among other ingredients. Methanol also has a lower freezing point than isopropyl alcohol so I don’t believe you’re better off adding rubbing alcohol.

Do you think that cars should be built with speed inhibitors/limiters (i.e if speed limit in country is 120km then the car shouldn’t exceed it)?.
CaptainGo@reddit
No. As I believe there can be circumstances where someone will have to speed.
I've lived in a couple rural areas where if something serious happens you're on the phone with a first responder and you're heading to them at the same time they're heading to you. Probably not going 30 on those roads

Replying to u/infiniteinevitable75 since it appears your comment is locked for some reason.
It’s totally dependent on the part. Things to consider are how important the part is to safe operation of your car, the effect of this part on other parts/function of the car, or your use case.

What do you all think about digital dashboards as opposed to having physical buttons? I’m very against them
HimTiser@reddit
Digital gauges are ok if the screen is a high refresh rate, so it’s smoother. Volume, HVAC, heated/cooled seats need to have dedicated physical buttons in my opinion.
I never see HUDs mentioned, I wish every vehicle at a minimum speed and compass in the windshield.
My favorite gauge cluster is the Volvo S60R and S70R, so I’m a sucker for more classic styles

Where is the best place to get an appraisal for unique, or low build number vehicles?
I have a low mileage 2004 Mercury Marauder in Dark Red, all the options and more rare interior. My understanding is that less than a thousand were produced in this configuration and it’s hard to find any reliable comps. I know rare doesn’t necessarily mean desirable, but I found this thing for a song, and would like to make sure I have the appropriate insurance.
Also, if anybody knows where to find replacement seat foam for this car let me know! About to resort to a custom upholstery shop to redo the foam.
