My mom’s in goddamn Russia. We talk on the phone. She knows I went AWOL. She worries, of course, but she’s a vatnik [invasion supporter], so we don’t get into that stuff. I tried talking to her at first, but she just shrugged and said, “I don’t follow politics.”
You know — typical Russki stuff. And she’s still working her shift at the Uralvagonzavod factory, cranking out tanks.
