I'm in a middle of a kitchen demolition before they come in a week to install the new cabinets so I don't have time to dig it out of storage, but I still have my first Logitech C7 flat and rectangular three button serial mouse, same as this one. Despite appearances it is still one of the most comfortable mice I've ever used, and although it was a ball mouse it was surprisingly agile.

25 pin serial, is it from late 80s?

Early 90s were mostly 9 pin and PS/2.

Yep.

there is no way to check. But I wouldn't put a non-working one in storage.

Even many modern boards still have a serial port. Usually only as a pinheader on the board and only briefly mentioned in BIOS and manual, but all you need is an adapter from there to a 25 pin sub-D connector.
