French Modele 1892 ammo

I recently came across some Model 1892 revolver ammo. The original owner was a French Moroccan sailer during ww2. It’s two sealed metal 6 round packs and 4 paper packs. I can’t find any information about either packs. They’re super cool and I thought I’d reach out to you all. Thanks a lot.

Opening one would be like cracking open a sarcophagus.

I don’t have the heart to do it.

I don’t either, some things are best left untouched.

This looks sick - we’d love it at r/Forgottencalibers

Just cross posted. Thanks

Correction. The original owner was in WW1.

Don't open it, you will ruin it's value.

I wouldn’t even know where to start as in what the value might be. Can’t find anything on it.

You sure it's Model 1892 revolver and not Modèle 1892 revolver? You mentioned French/France somewhere. Cause I don't think .38 Long Colt came in those tins.

It’s a Modele 1892. And I have been corrected that the gayer was in WW1 not 2

The little cans are so cute

Not exactly a speed loading setup.
How are we gonna store this ammo?
In water proof metal containers.
And then?
Uhh, wrap them in paper?
And then?
A little piece of string around them?
Sacre bleu!

I know you’re kinda joking but the ammo gets sent to the soldier like that and they’d unpack it and put it in their web gear before getting close to the front. Gotta keep it nice and dry somehow!

I would love to see an X-ray of the cans.

That’s amazing, I’ve seen the paper packets before but the canned ones are new to me. So cool!

It was a very exciting find indeed.
