As we're on the subject of Gremlins, here's one worthy of a second look: The Green Gremlin, a custom AMC that is a ne'er-do-well rapscallion's delight.

But does it whisper to Willem Dafoe urging him to commit evil deeds?
Asytra@reddit
You know this makes a good case for 70s cars actually looking pretty cool if you remove those horrible massive bumpers.

Doesn't it though? They probably added at least 300 lbs. of road-hugging weight.

I think a Gremlin, thoroughly modernized with a 4.0HO, or even a lightly turbocharged AMC150, would be a hoot. Especially if you fitted it up with a good 5-speed. They were pretty light so it doesn't take big power to make a lively car.

Here is an article about its construction

Have we already discussed David Freiburger’s “Street Freak” Hemi Gremmie?

‘ne’er do well rapscallion’… right..

The OG hot hatch

Damn straight, skippy! AMC had the goods!
YellowFogLights@reddit
“And then the Goblin, he had a Gremlin! And he jacked it up on some fat tires, and uh, and he tuned it up on some 4.11 positrak out back, 750 double pumper, Edelbrock intake, bore over 30, 11-to-1 pop-up pistons, turbo jets, 390 horsepower! I mean, he had some freakin’ muscle!”
RoseWould@reddit
But did they replace the pans or just cover the holes?
John_TheBlackestBurn@reddit
Holy gods. They actually made a Gremlin look sexy. And not in the typical ironic way.
lynivvinyl@reddit
My friend had a racing gremlin which was great in a straight line but absolute crap in corners.
Maynard078@reddit (OP)
Their underpinnings were rather "humble." But with the proper springs, shocks, wheels and tires, they can be made to go around corners just fine.
And this thing looks like great fun.

Oh it was until he crashed into a federal mailbox.

I always liked these.. at least from the outside.

I love AMC's funky bodies. Unsure about interior, never been in one.
My dad had a buddy who dropped a huge engine in a gremlin, dad took a ride in it, said he'd never get back in the thing.
His friend died not too long after that, in a wreck. He has mixed feeling's about the manufacturer.
Wonderful-Rock-9077@reddit
I'm still alive! I don't know who your dad is but I'm alive. I owned a greembln x and put a 401cid engine in it.
hell2pay@reddit
Hell yeah!

Nice try, this is leak from Spider-Man: Beyond the Spiderverse

Ok I never ever though I would use the words "sexy" and "Gremlin" in the same sentence but here we are, weird timeline right?

Here's a Pacer that might surprise you.
Iridefatbikes@reddit
Not bad, thanks for the reply but I definitely like the Gremlin better, I like boxy cars (don't judge me)

Ha! I would love to see this driven to my funeral one day. I would send the natives into fits of apoplexy.
ATFGunr@reddit
That’s got style. Not sure what kind but lots of it. I kinda dig it.
Maynard078@reddit (OP)
The local vicar approves.
