What 2000s kid shows do you feel nostalgia for that you were way too old for but remember them because you watched with your little kids

My kids love them too!
_RLW_@reddit
SpongeBob, Powerpuff Girls, Johnny Bravo, Dexter’s Lab, Ed, Edd & Eddy, Wizards of Waverly Place, Hannah Montana, Lizzie Maguire (I didn’t necessarily like them nor feel real nostalgia but Teletubbies and Barney are definitely imprinted into my brain)…obviously my first kid was a girl. By the time my 2nd kid, a son, came along 10 years after the first we had moved on to a whole new set of live action shows like Thundermans and Kickin’ It but SpongeBob and Powerpuff Girls got the full recycle as I owned all the DVDs. Plus I still get an occasional chuckle out of Teen Titans Go! if I’m scrolling channels and nothing is on.
MilesTheMINI@reddit
The only one you forgot was Ben 10!
m0nkeyh0use@reddit
When my kids were old enough to start watching the Nick and Disney sitcoms (Wizards of Waverly Place, iCarly, Hannah Montana, etc.), it surprised me how similar they were to the 70s and 80s sitcoms I grew up with. It made me realize how much TV had changed over the years, and that "family hour" stuff from network TV days past was now relegated to the kids' networks.
Not that I think it's bad... it just felt weird to be part of that kind of change happening and not noticing it until then.
_RLW_@reddit
Good point. We watched a ton of those Disney shows together. My daughter was a pre-teen into iCarly and the Sam & Cat while my young son was old enough to get into them as much as the actual kids programming aimed at his age group (Peppa Pig, Wild Krats). It definitely served as “family time” before they both ended up with cell phones and all that came with it.
NoGood2154@reddit
I loved "Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends." I would help my son with his homework so that he and I could watch it.

Coco The chicken could only say "Coco". Mr. Herriman, the rabbit, was also a favorite.

Nice!! When I was a newlywed, MIL, a huge Tom Jones fan, didn’t want to go alone, to see his show. She bought tix and dinner, for her daughter and I, to see Tom’s show, back in ‘99.
thiswasyouridea@reddit
Well, then, here's a joke for you.
A guy goes to the doctor and says, "Doc, I don't know what's wrong with me lately. I keep bursting out into song for no reason. The other day I was coming home from work and I started singing Green, Green Grass of Home. Saw my cat and started singing What's New, Pussycat? Saw my wife and started singing Delilah. She was not amused!"
The doctor says, "It's clear to me you've caught a case of Tom Jones Syndrome."
The guy says, "Tom Jones syndrome? I've never heard of that. Is it rare?"
"It's not unusual."

The Wiggles and Timmy Time when my kids were really little. My son was obsessed with the Wiggles. When they were elementary school aged Phineas and Ferb and Teen Titans Go.
CliffGif@reddit (OP)
Totally random Wiggles memory - the show where Anthony says “Now we’re going to sing a song about having fun at the beach” and then immediately they start singing “We’re having fun at the beach!” Australian dry humor at its best (that adults got)

Academic_Ad_8229@reddit

Dependent_Fun7273@reddit
I’ll have to try and find it and watch it. I thought they were fun! But I also like Raffi too, so I guess that says something about me lol I took my daughter to see the Wiggles in concert. The mothers lost their minds when the guys came out into the audience. Hilarious looking back.

The Wiggles. I still get Big Red Car stuck in my head.
Academic_Ad_8229@reddit
My son would say Big Red Cah (we're American but he'd say it with the Australian accent). So many catchy songs would get stuck in my head back then - we wore out the DVD's.
CliffGif@reddit (OP)
I didn’t mention the Wiggles in my post but the inspiration of my post was “Fruit salad, yummy yummy” randomly popping into my head 25 years after the fact.
CyndiIsOnReddit@reddit
It's absolutely ridiculous but I teared up a few days ago when I saw a Wiggles clip from Big Red Car. My son loved Wiggles so much and we sang every song together. It wasn't my favorite show at the time but it hit me in the feels.
Better though are King of the Hill memories. I watched the first time with my daughter and then about 10 years later with my son, and my daughter would often join us. My son really struggled with sleeping so we'd pop a melatonin, put on a show, and by the end he'd be drifting off. He LOVED Bobby Hill and he still quotes him sometimes.
Academic_Ad_8229@reddit
There was a documentary on the Wiggles on Prime or something a year or two ago and I got emotional watching it bc it brought back all these memories of my son when he was little. He adored the Wiggles and we wore out the DVD's. He's 20 now - wow time sure flies.

My little boy was obsessed with Thomas. The memory that sticks with me is going into a toy store in Michigan in the early 2000s at the height of the Thomas craze and his breaking down because I wouldn’t buy him a Donald train (remember Donald and Douglas). DONALD!!!!

I feel nostalgia for pretty much all of them. My kids ranged in birth from 2001 to 2011 and if I see one of the shows we used to watch together, it shows how time flies but it also shows that we kind of bonded while watching those shows. Blues Clues, Barney, Dora The Explorer, Arthur, Caillou, Clifford The Big Red Dog, Thomas (The Tank Engine), Bob The Builder, Super Why!, Daniel Tiger, Teletubbies.

Angela Anaconda..I can still sing the theme song. And we loved the Power Puff girls.

Technically it started in the 90s, but... The Big Comfy Couch.

Elegant-Particular49@reddit
I loved Big Comfy Couch and used to watch it when my daughter was little. I still have some of her dolls from the show that I’m not really sure what to do with.
No_Arugula_6548@reddit
I don’t have kids but I used to watch old SpongeBob with my friends daughter and it was hilarious! Lots of adult humor in the first few seasons of SpongeBob which makes those older episodes so much better than the newer ones.

Kim Possible, Phineas and Ferb
Probably more, but those are the two I thought of right off the bat.
Green-Eyed-BabyGirl@reddit
Loved Kim Possible. When we went to Disney World and Animal Kingdom for the first time, I think our son was probably the only kid waiting at rope drop that was so excited to see the naked mole rats lol. And the KP missions at Epcot? That added a whole new level of fun to walking around the World Showcase,
MallUpstairs2886@reddit
My favorites were the Backyardigans (more than my kids!), Bear in the Big Blue House (wasn’t around for child #3), and Phineas & Ferb.

Bluey, though it’s still an active show, so not sure if it counts for nostalgia. Also, Doc McStuffins. I think I liked it almost more than our kid.

Franklin, The Berenstein Bears and the whole Sprout Goodnight Show with Nina and Star. My girl and I had a routine each night of snuggling up in my bed and singing goodnight to Star 😊. One hour each evening before bed. She’s 21 now, and I sure miss those sweet nights.
Remarkable-Daikon-42@reddit
Nina from the Spriut Goodnight Show graduated from the college my daughter is now attending. Her picture is in the hall of fame. It brought back so many memories of watching together.

Wallykazam was really fun. It was delightfully silly, had funny, silly songs, and also occasional cameos by Weird Al.
Between the Lions was a great next step from Sesame Street and had some funny little recurring shorts like Cliff Hanger.
One child was into dinosaurs and loved Dinosaur Train. (Time Tunnel! Time Tunnel approaching!)
And the Backyardigans, Blue’s Clues, and Jack’s Big Music Show.
