Not sure it will be legally useful, but with the coming "transition" to a unstable codebase, I thought it might be useful to point out some tools to create a digital trail for your Social Security history. IANAL / Cryptographer / Data Scientist [Relevance to the United States]

Relevant information on the transition and the concerns about it.

The most preferable option would be to have a notary view your documents, but short of that, this is what I'm planning on doing.

  1. Creating a hash file (a string that shows the file was original as compared to the download) of my pdf statements from SSA.gov

Windows Server 2003 and later (including Server 2016, 2019, 2022) / Windows Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, 10, and 11

Mac OS X 10.0 "Cheetah" and above

It can be run from the command line with a few extra tools or you can use the web upload that stays on your side of the web browser.

  1. Having a physical print out from the local Social Security branch / mailed copy.

Hope that helps, no guarantee that it will resolve any future issues, but it will give weight to your claims assuming you can make them.
