What is ford doing? No EVs, no hybrids

What is ford's strategy going forward? No ev strategy, no hybrid strategy, truck sales are meandering downward. Is ford just run by MBAs with no forward thinking? Stellantis is fubar, but GM at least has a forward strategy. Ford seems to be stuck in neutral.

Mustang Mach E is actually a pretty nice EV...
TheReaperSovereign@reddit
My wife has a 23. She loves the exterior styling and the interior is probably one of the better ford's I've been in
Main complaints are - cold weather range is ass. Ford didn't put in heat pumps until the 25MY. The infotainment software can be slow and buggy. The biggest con is the ride quality which is stiff. I suspect they were trying to target a sporty driving audience but there's no reason it needs to be as stiff as it is. My m240i rides better
Won't be a forever car but it's a solid car elsewise.
TomcatZ06@reddit
Does she have the regular or GT? A common complaint has been that the GT is too stiff.
TheReaperSovereign@reddit
We have the middle tier trim ("premium" iirc) with the extended battery.
TomcatZ06@reddit
Yeah, they have no EVs except one of the most popular non-Tesla EVs in the country. Idk what OP is talking about.
rg25@reddit
Rushing into an EV strategy at this moment seems like a bad idea. If anything I am guessing they're playing damage control to weather the pain that the auto industry will be feeling over the coming years.
learner888@reddit
thats why they are surpassed by both byd and geely in the beginning of this year, and are on the verge of dropping from top 10

Lightning F-150? Mustang Mach E?
SeriousMongoose2290@reddit
Yeah other than those and the Maverick and Escape hybrids. And the F150 hybrid.
FuzzelFox@reddit
They also have the Lincoln Nautilus/Corsair and Aviator as hybrids as well.
androk@reddit (OP)
I did forget about the maverick, it’s a genius little hybrid truck
androk@reddit (OP)
Both came out 3 years ago, what is happening going forward?
RiftHunter4@reddit
I mean, Ford has had Hybrids for a long time, they just don't brag about it like Toyota.
bnace@reddit
Back to the mid 2000s/2010s either the Fusion and Escape
future_web_dev@reddit
They have a healthy mix of ICE, hybrid, and EV vehicles though. I’d understand the concern if they only had ICE but they appear to be in a good place.
03Void@reddit
Ford is one of the legacy manufacturers that pushes EVs the most, with GM, Hyundai and KIA. Don't know what you're on about
BlazinAzn38@reddit
They’ll refresh the Mach E in 2026 along a traditional refresh cycle. Most other new EVs haven’t gotten refreshes either
blainestang@reddit
Midsize EV truck in 2027. New Lightning in 2027.
Plus probably some Plug-in Hybrids and Extended Range (onboard generator) EVs, too: Superduty, F150, Ranger.
androk@reddit (OP)
Do there is something then., that’s good. We need a strong relevant auto manufacturers.
lordtema@reddit
Ford Explorer and Ford Capri in Europe at least. (The Explorer is nothing like the Explorer of yore though)
V8-Turbo-Hybrid@reddit
Those models are basically rebadged VW MEB models though
besselfunctions@reddit
E-Transit
varezhka11@reddit
What do you mean? Ford has a HSD style series-parallel hybrid/PHEV for FWD based vehicles, parallel hybrid for RWD based vehicles (did you know that V6 hybrid is the second most popular powertrain for F-150?), in-house BEV platforms for the domestic market and an MEB platform from VW for the European market. What else are you looking for?
Gabbar-0811@reddit
Only good budget coupe, after camaro was shut down!
throwiesixnine@reddit
Yes and Ford has one of the best looking electric crossover SUVs imho: Mustang Mach-E
V8-Turbo-Hybrid@reddit
Ford isn’t that rich company that you thought, they’re carefully using their money to operate the company.
AnuthaJuan@reddit
Selling Fleet F150s like the cartel moves heroin
delebojr@reddit
Ford is being pulled down by their high warranty costs right now
androk@reddit (OP)
Self inflicted wounds are not good
PersiusAlloy@reddit
They're probably focused on over sized EV trucks and SUVs that cost $80k+ with < 250mi of range. I don't care though, there's plenty of ICE cars available for the future.
Ancient_Persimmon@reddit
They haven't shown anything yet, but they're developing a proper ground up EV and Doug Field isn't the worst person to head that initiative.
If they nail that, they'll be looking a lot better.
generalright@reddit
Ford loves to be the first to fail at new ventures. They released some of the first EVs after Tesla, first EV truck, now they aren’t sure what to do. But they have some compelling products that are mid. They’ll just be mid for a lot longer.
