Need Advice With a Flight to Japan

Hey guys.
I've been reading posts from this sub for a while and am finally taking the leap to go on my own trip and just wanted some advice in relation to flights.
I want to go to Japan from 8-20-2025 to 9-17-2025 (about a month) and hang out with some friends for a total of about 3k (in the spirit of shoestringing), and I've been looking at flights. They have been around the same price till this last week where they've gone up, so it's kinda spooked me, and that's why I'm here to get opinions.
Right now I'm split between a Basic Enconomy ticket for $570 and a General Economy for $760, (these prices have gone up in the last 2 days) and I'm not sure which to get because I don't plan on changing up my plans for my flight but you never know. So I was wondering how restrictive BE truly is since I've read some posts that people were able to pay a small fee to change the day, and your guy's experiences in BE. In addition to this the flights have gone up by at min 50$ within the last two days and I'm not sure if they will go back down, since I'm still 4 months out or if this is the start of them going up a lot.
(Also I know I'm going during the busy time of the year but it's the only time I can since my friends and I are all in college)
Just wanted some insight, opinions, and experiences from you guys, and thank you for all the information you can give me!

Best time to buy is 3-4 months out, prices won't come down now.
Basic, general etc mean nothing. Different airlines have different conditions.

Doubtful the price will go down. As seats are sold, dates get closer. The prices keep going up. Read the fare class information in detail on their website. It will explain your choices. Sure an airline may try and accommodate a change for you no matter what ticket class you have, but if it's not specifically offered for what you paid for they don't have to.

Yea I know i've just read a lot of things and thought hey ill just ask people straight up and see their thoughts

Honestly, most people never read the full conditions on the tickets they buy. So they complain about issues, but don't know what they were entitled to in the first place and just blame the airline for being rude or treating them badly. These companies all have airtight policies and make them readily available but a lot of people just think that they're entitled to something because it's what they want. For too long people have been told the customer is always right... Airlines are pretty much the only company that doesn't care what the customer thinks unless you're a regular first class flyer.

which city are you flying from?

PDX

PNW flight options are fewer and the basic economy price looks like a great find. The seats in the plane are the same if you buy economy or basic economy so go for the cheaper ticket.

Those prices are fine. Go for it. I flew basic economy Atlanta to Dallas to Tokyo. It was fine

Since this is my first time doing something like that im thinking about going General Econ instead of Basic Econ and then if i have no hiccups go Basic after that
