Is this guy trying to sell a fake lectric xp lite battery on FB marketplace???

I asked for some pics and immediately saw that the voltage on the sellers battery said 47.4 v 7.8 ah… my battery says 48V 7.8ah. I was wondering if lectric ever made a 47.4 a battery but could not find any proof of it being legit after searching for it online. I just bought a used xp last night so I am still very new to all this.

…orrrr it’s a stolen one

The label probably used nominal voltage of 3.65V which gives this number, usually its rounded to 48V. Doesn't have to necessarily be a fake

How can I be sure it isnt? I dont want to burn my house down

Buy one direct, instead of looking for deals from people on Facebook?

I believe the battery I have is in decent shape (115 miles put on it). I just happened to see this one on fb marketplace and thought it was worth making an offer on it. I really don’t need an extra battery at the moment.. maybe that will change when the weather is better and I’m out riding a lot more.

is the manufacturer on your battery the same? How different is the label?

If it's a legit lectric, its got certifications up the ass. Idk if it would be worth the effort to cheaply rebuild a 7ah battery, just to sell it for 150$. Plenty of way more expensive batteries if they wanted to scam. You should see if the battery has a warranty sticker, so you can tell if it was opened. I know the slide in lecric ones don't but batteries like this sometimes do. Worth a shot

Lectric batteries usually have silver letters not white. As far as I can tell

Lectric doesn't make the battery, they just slapped on their brand after buying bikes in bulk, that's how I got my bike too, but under a different brand name. Kinda makes all batteries the same, don't ya think? This battery looks like it could fit my "Esmaster"
UnreliableGamer1@reddit
The shape doesn't matter. Lectric wouldn't put 100 certifications on a battery that's faulty, opens up too many lawsuits. Plus when you seen a lecric battery blow? These foldable batteries come in many different lengths and widths to match the frames. Just cause it "looks like it'll fit" means next to nothing

Id be more concerned about the 'never used' part cuz letting a battery sit for a long time without being stored at the proper voltage can be horrendous for the batteries health.
Left long enough it can even permanently damage the battery making it potentially unsafe to charge.
ImplementLegal6011@reddit (OP)
I think he said it sat in storage for a year
Educational_Ad_3922@reddit
A year is a LONG time to let it just sit, even if it was fully charged before storing.

I called lectric and they said it wasnt there battery and they never made a battery that said 47.4 V but maybe they just want to entice me to buy from their site?? I dont know I just dont want to burn my damn house down.

Lithium cells have a nominal voltage between 3.6 and 3.7v, if you average these and multiply it by thr number of series cells (13) you get 47.45v, so I would assume that's how they calculated this.
But it still a 48v battery. The seller isn't lying
Mockbubbles2628@reddit
It might use lifepo4 cells, they have a lower nominal voltage
