Archer talks

I'm super excited about everything they're talking about. If they get to expand to public consumers, it would be an absolute game changer. I've been thinking about what the laws will have to be if this happens. One thing I know for sure is, it won't be legal without dorsal and ventral radar. It's a liability if not. Once things get spinning, it'd be the only way to know if someone's directly above or below you. Aside from that, in the models I've seen, they have multiple propellers so if there was a malfunction you could pilot it down instead of plummeting. Sensors could help in these instances aswell.

What are YOU talking about?

Wait until you learn about helicopters 🤯

You expect the public consumers to buy avgas, JP-8, or Jet A-1?
DDX1837@reddit
"Public consumers" of what?
I buy avgas all the time. How else do you get fuel for your airplane or helicopter?
No-Ad-3609@reddit (OP)
The average consumer. Upper and lower middle class.
DDX1837@reddit
So... you just make up "facts" which suit you position?
It obvious where this will go. The same place the previous 10 attempts ended up.
But if you feel so positive about it, I suggest you invest a sizeable amount of money in this company.

Well, I'm waiting to see how the ignorant oil worshippers are going to limit EV's first. You can't prove me wrong, all the evidence supports my statements.
FossilFuelBurner@reddit
Yeah, like they already do when they want to skip an hour commute in a helicopter.
What market segment do you believe this will actually serve and still be profitable that that isn’t already served by helicopters?
No-Ad-3609@reddit (OP)
More affordable flying for consumers and less traffic. Won't have less traffic with normal helicopters because noone can afford to regularly fly it.
FossilFuelBurner@reddit
Oh shit, you think this will be so popular and cheap it will reduce traffic? Wow that’s incredible.
No-Ad-3609@reddit (OP)
You're acting like there aren't self driving cars for $40,000.
FossilFuelBurner@reddit
How much do you think this will be to purchase? And with only 4 seats, how much do you think a ticket will cost?
No-Ad-3609@reddit (OP)
I don't know yet. It's the future.
FossilFuelBurner@reddit
You are the one who asserted it would be more affordable, and implied it would reduce traffic.
Their website is literally a tech bro pipe dream full of buzzwords and little substance. Believe what you want, but I guarantee unless you’re already considering using a helicopter, you will never take a flight in one of these.
No-Ad-3609@reddit (OP)
First, anything electric is going to be cheaper than combustion. Second, I don't see why I would have to consider a normal helicopter to use one of these besides licensing. Third, you're just a hater.
makgross@reddit
It’s not going to be a game changer. There will be another rich guy toy in the mix.
If it ever did make it to the number of people they have been asserting, the Bay will be littered with carcasses of crashed aircraft on a daily basis.
The business model is essentially the same as helicopter commuting. That was an idea in the 70s. It never worked for normal people. Only insanely rich to and from lower Manhattan.
It can only work if these aircraft haul several hundred people at once, and are flown by professional pilots. That is, enormous busses. And it needs a new type of airspace to separate it from already high airplane traffic.
No-Ad-3609@reddit (OP)
I literally just explained how they won't be crashing. All the other stuff you're saying depends on pricing. It's the only cure for traffic and has my full support.
makgross@reddit
They will be crashing because they bang into each other. Having multiple rotors doesn’t help that.
There is NO WAY ON GOD’S GREEN EARTH they can possibly make anywhere near a significant dent in traffic. There is no airspace for them, and high vehicle traffic almost always means crowded airspace.
No-Ad-3609@reddit (OP)
Radar or sensors would do just that.
makgross@reddit
Uhh, no it won’t. Only in the limit of zero traffic.
Don’t believe everything you read.
No-Ad-3609@reddit (OP)
The sky is empty, what are you talking about?
DDX1837@reddit
Found the guy who has never spent any time in the air around a major city.
No-Ad-3609@reddit (OP)
It's not like it's crowded. Besides I'm absolutely positive there will be altitude limits for the public.
makgross@reddit
Uhh, you need to think about this a bit.
And people who don’t understand even the first thing about aviation have no business commenting on any aspect of its future.
We have these magic devices called “aircraft” that, you know, sometimes use the sky.
No-Ad-3609@reddit (OP)
Ok
DDX1837@reddit
The "only" cure?
SMH
No-Ad-3609@reddit (OP)
All the other options equal crowded spaces and/or lines.
