What companies have 3/4 days otr, and 3/4 days home?

My buddy works for a snack cake company and he's gone 3.5 days and home rest of the week. He's got a teammate so they're always rolling.
I'm wondering what other companies have similar schedules. I've googled it but don't see straight answers.

Buddy work for Debbie? He out of Collegedale? My prior bid, we ran Tuesday afternoon - Thursday Night, with about 8 hrs off Wednesday afternoon/evening and was off Friday till we left out on Tuesday.

I've seen a beer company advertise a 4-day route (home every night). The ad claimed 60k a year, but so does their 5/6 day routes, so I figured it'd probably be less
PhoenixSmasher@reddit
Schneider had something they called "Home-Run" where you slip-seat with 2 other drivers and 1 other truck, 2-weeks out, 1-week home. They do/did teams as well. However, you won't make any money, and any delays during your 2 week window will kill what little money you were going to make anyway.

Roehl has a 7 on 7 off program.
robexib@reddit
I mean, I did it about 8 or 9 years ago. I made about $40k, and that's not bad for working half the year. I imagine that it pays a fair bit more now.
-Clem@reddit
I'm just going by their website. It says the average pay is 800 or 900 a week and I assume that's only on the weeks you're working, so 900x26.
robexib@reddit
No, that's 800-900 a week, so 900x52.
When I was there, the pay was set up so that you'd get half your work-week's pay every week. So it's now closer to $50k, which is still not amazingly high by trucking standards, but it absolutely sweet considering you work half the year.
Rasty1973@reddit
You have to pay them 20k each year for that program?

Just get a local gig
uniformhotelhotel@reddit (OP)
I mean yeah that works too. I just want more than 2 days off at a time.
nastyzoot@reddit
Deliver beer or other beverages. I work a 4 day week.
uniformhotelhotel@reddit (OP)
I'm in beer now. What company works you 4 days a week?
nastyzoot@reddit
A smaller local one. Our 5 day routes are more like 4 and a 1/2 day ones. Honestly, it's pretty much a unicorn. If you're young and want more time off, then I think a career change is in order.
-Clem@reddit
A lot of local jobs are 4 day work weeks.
Salt-Fee-9543@reddit
You aren’t getting 2 consecutive days off unless you’re otr and stay out minimum 2 weeks. Regional driving you’re getting basically 1 full day off.
CapitanPino@reddit
Heard tidewater transit has something like that. I know a driver there who says he can get home most days but they ask you to do an OTR run at least 1 wk out of the month. Seems worth it to me. Theyre tanker and some hazmat too.
Ben325e2@reddit
Depends on where you run out of. I started trucking there straight out of school but immediately switched to a different mon-fri local gig.
Not a terrible place to be but there are better gigs to be had if you have experience.
I have several buddies who worked there and moved on when they could.
Stormy_Turtles@reddit
UPS does for most of their sleeper teams (OTR). It's usually 3.5 days unless you're delayed by weather or a breakdown.
Good luck getting a job with us right now though. We definitely aren't hiring.

Look at running powder in a pneumatic trailer. I hauled cement for almost 4 years loved it. It paid really well with an average of 2500 a week. I ran my ass off though. Most daycab jobs your home nightly. You will run 60-70 hours a week.
MikeV2@reddit
I run regional. About 30 hour trips. Spend one night on the road per trip next night at home. 2-3 trips a week. The key is doing cross border. My company is basically on the border and we gotta start and end all deliveries in opposite countries. Great gig. Been doing it for 12 years.
uniformhotelhotel@reddit (OP)
Which border big dawg? Haha
MikeV2@reddit
Fair point. I’m Canadian so there’s only one for me. The northern border for you.
Spear994@reddit
I worked 4 on 4 off at Keller Transport for a few months. On the road for 4 days. Off for 4. You slip seat the truck with someone else.
nerdariffic@reddit
That's what I figured OP is talking about when he says "teammate".
uniformhotelhotel@reddit (OP)
Nah, driving partner

My schedule with frito is pretty much what I make it. Because I have a long commute to the terminal, I try and run m-f with a combo of a 2 day out and a 3 day out. Could be home everyday if I wanted, but the commute makes it not make sense.

More like AT LEAST 3/4 weeks out and MAYBE 3 days at home. I stay out for about 6 weeks and get 3/4 home.
Puzzleheaded-Hat5803@reddit
I stay out 3-6 weeks at a time. Then I take no less than 5 days hometime. Usually 7. But it's a mega.
uniformhotelhotel@reddit (OP)
Yeah not happening lol
chrisp_ape@reddit
I work 3weeks out 4/5 days home
Feeling_Display8750@reddit
Walmart has 5/2 5/3, and some 5/5 programs
Independent-Fun8926@reddit
I know of a few companies that have 3 weeks out, 1 week off. LGT Transport is one. Seems like the best OTR schedule lol.
5/2 is pretty common for regional jobs. I’ve heard that snack cake company is a pretty good gig, hope so anyway. Sounds like it but I can’t do teams.
Most places are strictly 3-4 weeks out, 3-4 days earned hometime. They own your ass lol. Then they wonder why drivers leave for local and regional jobs. My company has a 7 days worked, 1 day off earned policy. Absolutely shit but at least I’m getting the tanker experience I wanted.
If companies gave me a 6/3 schedule or something like that… and paid well… and treated me like a person instead of a slave… well I wouldn’t have much reason to leave lol. But I don’t know why or who to blame for why we have such shitty treatment as standard in the industry.Â
Hope that paints a pictureÂ

I drive out of Fargo ND. I live in the city so that may change things. I'm usually out 6 days then 2-3 off. Sometimes out a little longer sometimes a little shorter. Basic I run out to VA and back then ateast a 34 and go again.
The company I work for you work as hard as you want to work. Basically pick your schedule and go. Some guys work 3wk home 1wk. I know I guy that leave sun/Mon is back on Friday and takes the weekend off.
It all depends on the company, freight, and how much you want to earn.

my job had runs that are out monday, back tuesday, home wednesday. then out thursday, back friday. home on weekends. i cover for them sometimes and it’s really nice
uniformhotelhotel@reddit (OP)
Yeah so what company or industry is it?
freightliner_fever_@reddit
we haul milled wood or special order wood to lumber yards around missouri and the surrounding states
salaamcreddit@reddit
Amazon freight partners. I do two shifts out, sleep at home, two shifts out, then four nights off. Maybe 55-60k per year. This is their solo 2 arrangement. Solo 1 is home every day.
uniformhotelhotel@reddit (OP)
And by shift you mean driving days?
salaamcreddit@reddit
Yeah. Typically 13 hours of a shift, ten hours and a few minutes off, then another 13 hours on. A lot of on time is just waiting for the fc to load trailers. I average about 1400 miles for the four shifts.
uniformhotelhotel@reddit (OP)
They supply the truck and all? That sounds is great actually
salaamcreddit@reddit
Yeah. I share a 22 t680 with the guy who works my off days. Some of the partners have Volvo, FL, intl, there's even a 579 at my yard that's waiting to be given to a company. I made a hundred bucks to nap at love's last night.
Kkalemauser@reddit
A lot of yard dog positions have a 3 on 4 off/4 on 3 off rotating schedule, and you get you sleep in your own bed and not smell someone else’s farts.
uniformhotelhotel@reddit (OP)
Yard dog? Any companies come to mind?
Kkalemauser@reddit
Look in your local area. Look for yard hostler or yard jockey positions on Indeed. Try amazon. Not sure of their schedule.
I was going to work at a dairy then I found out that they did the 3/4 4/3 and I need to work more then that. So I said no thanks.
_FearMose_@reddit
I dont know of any that have more off days than work days but at walmart theres 5/2-5/3 schedules. 6/2, 6/3, and for the older guys that are close to retirement they have programs thats 5 on 5 off but they’re phasing those out once they retire
SawGoodMang@reddit
I work for a contractor for Walmart. We do 3 on 4 off. Set schedule. Come in any time. Only bad is slip seat. Local as well.
Naborsx21@reddit
I've heard Ryan does something like that, but that's just heresy, I'd be really worried about money because that'd only be like $40k/ year? or less? Unless that's fine and you just want the hometime.
I'd say try reaching out to local companies near you, someone probably has a load that goes 2 days out 2 days back once a week or something. But it'd be hard, running a truck costs a lot, lol. The insurance and truck payment will barely if maybe not be covered with only 50% of uptime, heaven forbid you break down.
uniformhotelhotel@reddit (OP)
Yeah I'm way more worried about the home time than the money tbh. 4 and 4 or 4 and 3 would be fine. I'll check it Ruan
