First-Time Visitor to USA and Texas – Where Can I Score Affordable Used Cowboy Boots in Dallas?
Posted by parth8x10@reddit | askdfw | View on Reddit | 23 comments
Hey y’all,
I’m visiting Dallas and the USA for the first time, and I really want to take a pair of cowboy boots back home with me. The problem is, new ones are way out of my budget (thanks to conversion rates burning a hole in my pocket), so I’m looking for a good pair of used boots in fair condition for under $100.
I’ve already checked Facebook Marketplace and asked around in other communities, but it’s been a bit overwhelming with all the information. So, I figured I’d turn to you awesome folks for some help!
I wear a UK 9.5 (which I believe is around a US 10.5), and I’d prefer to find something in the Denton, Argyle, or Fort Worth area, but I’m open to other suggestions around Dallas if it’s worth the trip.
Do y’all have any recommendations for thrift stores, second-hand western wear shops, flea markets, or other places where I might score a decent pair within my budget? Any specific stores or areas I should check out?
Appreciate any help you can give!
Thanks in advance!

This was going to be my answer!!!! Then walk across the street and have dinner at ebar
spacedman_spiff@reddit
Or somewhere good.
jesgolightly@reddit
Ebar is fucking delicious.
spacedman_spiff@reddit
It’s fine. Nothing special.
jesgolightly@reddit
Where is special? I’m sorry for giving suggestions so i would love to hear your’s.

Haha no worries. I’d actually be interested to hear what I should get at Ebar. People rave about it but I don’t feel like it offered anything unique from other Tex-Mex. It’s not bad, just the usual.
Depends on what you’re looking for. I like the mole enchiladas at Gonzalez or the Mollejas at El Ranchito.
Geniusgza1@reddit
I’m guessing ebar is Tex mex and Gonzales leans more authentic?
Mole enchiladas ftw
spacedman_spiff@reddit
Slightly. It’s still Tex-Mex but they have mole and menudo, etc.

Some people love EBar I’ve never understood. I’ve been twice and the food was not great at all and drinks were bad both times. Very bad service one of the times. With all the awesome restaurants around I can’t bring myself to try for a third time

Dolly python which is a thrift antique place in Dallas, Justin’s (they have an outlet in ftw) and any cavanders should have some decent options. You might hit ver slightly above your budget at Justins or cavanders. Unfortunately many people will tell you to check out the stockyards for boots but there won’t be many in your price range, definitely still check out the area though.

One of the Justin Boot stores in Justin. Very close to argyle and Denton.

Justin boots under $100 is a myth!

There's a great used boot vendor in Chaos to Couture in FTW.

I have a pair of lightly used square toe Ariats I got years ago that you’re more than welcome to have for free. However, they’re a UK size 8.5 so I’m not sure if they’d fit you.

I really appreciate your gesture, brother. I am US10.5 in Men. So it would be a little too tight.😅

Totally understand, hope you find what you’re looking for!

I’d suggest performing a internet search for the Justin Boot Outlet in Ft. Worth & call them for availability & pricing. Be sure to inform them that you are after ‘Cowboy Boots’ vs work boots - 2 different animals. Be sure to also let them know your from out of the country, also when you’ll be there so if something does come in they can set aside. Is better to get a new pair so that the boot conforms specifically to your foot vs being broken in according to someone else’s.

Cavender’s, they have plenty of affordable new options

Why got do you want used? You can get exotic leather like ostrich for 2-500. But if you’re doin cow leather then it shouldn’t be $100

1USD is around 87INR. So, it will take a toll on me.

Women ‘s or men’s 10.5? There are several thrift stores in Plano you might want to check out: The Thrift Store, The Plaid Tag, Salvation Army, Plaza Thrift. I would think there are several thrift stores in and around Denton. There is a store called Shepler’s that has a lot of boots on clearance but not sure of location. Good luck!
