MK Train Station Incident (1st April)

There's currently an incident taking place at CMK train station. At time of writing it is still open but there may be some disruption to travellers.
Putting on here in case this is where you come to get up to the minute local news... hey who knows, you might.
CalmStomach3@reddit
This really sucks I heard a big bang at lunch time sleeping for my night shift . thought it was a digger. Whatever they had done it's hurtful that sound was a person dying.
TechboyUK@reddit
A bad person who was a risk to the public.
nasted@reddit
But still a person who died in a violent way - and close to where people live. That’s what this person is expressing. Imagine someone being shot by police outside your house? I can be the right thing to do but still not pleasant in anyway.
Papasmurf532000@reddit
Life isn’t all sunshine and rainbows. People are way too comfortable with life being “safe” and “peaceful”. Shit happens, people die.
readytokno@reddit
and because of that people aren't allowed to be traumatized or troubled? What a bizarre attention-seeking comment
Papasmurf532000@reddit
Hardly attention seeking. Merely making a point that people wouldn’t be traumatised or troubled if they understood that shit happens and life ain’t pretty. People don’t cry when a lion rips apart a zebra. People don’t cry when a shark tears apart a seal. It’s the same shit just different animals. People forget humans are animals, we do have a prey drive since we are predators. If everyone started to understand our animalistic behaviours people wouldn’t be crying over little things.
throwawaygermany69@reddit
Oh wow! Is the man shot, the shooter?
Is this gang related? We are moving soon to MK, how common is this? :(
throwawaygermany69@reddit
I don’t understand why people are downvoting? I’m genuinely asking?
readytokno@reddit
the shot man was a mentally ill loner I believe, who's hung round there doing stuff like this before and just went too far this time
PerpetualWobble@reddit
Your problem is caring that people are downvoting. It's just interwebs points
NoelofNoel@reddit
Reddit's gonna reddit.
shdanko@reddit
Not sure why you’re being downvoted. This type of thing very rarely happens. MK is very safe in most areas. And has some more dangerous areas. Like every town/city..
wiewiorowicz@reddit
literally never happens:P
Commercial_Floor_707@reddit
Literally never, or literally just has this morning?
wiewiorowicz@reddit
first time at the station as far as I know, so up to this morning it was never:). I presume someone gets shot once every couple of years but it's not a problem MK has, just 280k+ people living in one place so inevitably something like this will happen.
richboyadler@reddit
guns in general are really area as we mainly have knife crime more than anything
Large_Philosopher373@reddit
I work next door - saw all of it unfold.
readytokno@reddit
was he one of the regular people who hang around there?
ProfDumblewhore@reddit
What happened then??
Large_Philosopher373@reddit
The police told the man to put his weapon down, but he refused.
One officer fired at him and then both ARV officers who were present were attempting to provide CPR once he was neutralised.
Huge police + emergency services presence shortly followed in attempt to provide CPR but he died fairly quickly.
They shot him in the stomach.
-TheBigC-@reddit
Thanks for detail, I'm curious do you know what the response time was between the report and armed police arriving?
Large_Philosopher373@reddit
Report says police were notified of a man with a firearm at 12:55pm.
Police were there instantly - the TVP HQ is right next to the train station.
-TheBigC-@reddit
I didn't think TVP had an armed unit based locally is why I asked. I've asked for information on this in the past and been advised it can be up to half hour before an armed unit responds to a firearm offence/terrorism. If you say they arrived instantly this is good to hear.
garethjonesdotit@reddit
I used to live opposite the police station so walked/drove past most days, and often saw armed response going in and out of the main gate. So if they don't have a unit based there, they're at least there very often.
I also see the armed cars around MK very often, so they do spend a lot of time in the area.
-TheBigC-@reddit
That's good, there would be a unit at every school if it was up to me. I assumed there would be improvements in this area under the current circumstances, schools (I'm a bit obsessed yes) have each reviewed lockdown/anti terror procedures and running more regular drills too. Our council tax is paying for something!
Mr_B-B@reddit
Do you know what kind of fire arm it was or what it looked like?
Large_Philosopher373@reddit
Both officers had a SIG MCX Carbine and what seems to be a holstered Glock 17.
Razzmatazaa@reddit
How the hell do you have all this in depth and very specific information? You were a bystander but you seem to be a complete expert in firearms and munitions
Reasonable-Horse1552@reddit
You can Google what weapons ARV officers carry.
DistanceSelect7560@reddit
Knowing the standard carry firearms of armed response and identifying them doesn't exactly count as being a "complete expert". He was also at the scene.
Mr_B-B@reddit
It's not that difficult to recognise firearms especially if they are standard issue like someone else mentioned! Btw Glock17s that the officers are using are amazing guns, great choice by the police!
Large_Philosopher373@reddit
I have pictures of the ARV officers mate - I’m not a firearms expert in the slightest.
Razzmatazaa@reddit
Um hm ok mate
Large_Philosopher373@reddit
I’m only trying to provide information - I’m not here to deceive anybody.
biggles1994@reddit
You don’t have to be a PHD level expert to be interested in firearms and know what common models UK police use. The glock 17 and Sig MCX have both been common in mainstream video games for years.
Mr_B-B@reddit
And the perpetrator? Was asking out of interest as guns should be quite hard to get here
Large_Philosopher373@reddit
Reports say he was brandishing a firearm but word of mouth around here suggests it was a knife.
I couldn’t see what he was holding - but I do know that guns in the UK are more common than one would assume.
Mr_B-B@reddit
Thanks. And yes I agree - to be honest it must be quite easy to smuggle a few guns over the channel. They are not hard to get in mainland Europe.
taronoth@reddit
Damn, shot in the stomach. That's a rough way to go.
ProfDumblewhore@reddit
Totally bizarre for a broad daylight incident??
Large_Philosopher373@reddit
Not something you see everyday, that’s for sure.
The body is still there now. They left him with a blanket on for ages, and only now have they just put a tent over the body.
geekbeat13@reddit
Someone with a knife, armed response.
liftedjae@reddit
he had a knife you’re right, he apparently ran at a fed with it and then the fed shot him in the stomach. they then performed cpr on him for 5ish mins and was pronounced dead on the scene
covmatty1@reddit
Oh get out. We're not American.
Reasonable-Horse1552@reddit
All the kids call them feds
piratepixie@reddit
I have an 18yo brother. No they don't.
Reasonable-Horse1552@reddit
I mean school kids. 18 isn't a kid.
piratepixie@reddit
18 is BARELY an adult. He's still in school. In the UK, children are required to be in full time education until they're 19.
Reasonable-Horse1552@reddit
Ffs really ? You have really missed the point.
When I said kids I mean kids of 13 or 14. There's a vast difference between an 18 year old and a 13 year old.
covmatty1@reddit
Well they need to be told they're wrong 😂
The internet has a lot to answer for.
mkroberta@reddit
Who's fed?
IllustriousState751@reddit
He meant Fred 😉
antitrollpatrol@reddit
A gun.
Impossible_Skill_562@reddit
Do they know anything about the gunman?
DragonWolfZ@reddit
I was at Wolverton station shortly after this where police were stationed on the south bound platform. Why would they do this after the incident? Suspect another person?
ricopicouk@reddit
idiot cops went to the wrong station :-D
Notagelding@reddit
Standard police response
Notagelding@reddit
Imagine reading about this on Nextdoor 😂😂😂
Forsaken-Bluejay@reddit
Was at the bus stop, heard one shot, then loads of police and ambulances arrived, and the chopper. Definitely not the norm for MK
Queasy-Obligation-29@reddit
Whaaa
Classic_Peasant@reddit
What did it actually sound like, the shot? As people rarely hear them in real life and films/tv conflate them
Forsaken-Bluejay@reddit
A loud bang, with a reverberating echo. Exactly like if you play call of duty with headphones. I thought it was just some random thing to do with the railway at first, but obv its all over the news now
onlyrants@reddit
Can someone explain what exactly happened?
dilithium-dreamer@reddit
Someone that saw it posted above.
richboyadler@reddit
literally just read up on it ! apparently someone opened fire and people heard shots ! police apparently took down the gunman .. absolutely insane but glad nobody is hurt
kingdomzebedee@reddit
Nobody opened fire, the police shot once, that was all
mattcosmith@reddit
Is the station still open? Will be coming back from London at 7PM.
kool_kats_rule@reddit
No disruption to trains, you just might have to go round stuff outside
mattcosmith@reddit
Many thanks!

man shot dead
Classic_Peasant@reddit
In relation to reports of police challenging a man allegedly in possession of a firearm?
EngageWarp9@reddit
I wondered why the air ambulance was flying overhead an hour ago!
