Forget about mainstream cartoons, what were your "nobody else has heard of it" cartoon fever dreams?
Posted by Majestic_Market2006@reddit | Xennials | View on Reddit | 514 comments
Thumbing through reddit, as one does, and I saw a suggested post about "80's cartoons!". The image was filled with cartoons from the 70s, 80s, and 90s.
Freakazoid? Really? Good day sir!.
But it got me to to thinking about some of the cartoons that weren't listed there, and damnthere were some EXCELLENT cartoons that not a lot of folks remember. TranzorZ, G-force, Silverhawks, Fire and Ice, Galaxy Rangers, Blackstar!
*yes nowadays everyone has heard of Robotech, but I can remember getting laughed off the jungle-gym-of-doom because nobody had ever heard of it
So tell us, what are your "WTF are you talking about?" cartoon fever dreams of the 80s?
Neon_Samurai_@reddit
Spartakus and the Sun Beneath the Sea.
lollipop-guildmaster@reddit
I've been scouring the internet trying to find a copy of this for literal decades now.

HOLY SHIT YOU ARE MY NEW FAVORITE HUMAN THANK YOU
Neon_Samurai_@reddit
You're welcome. Just finding out the name of the show took a couple of hours.
Far-Pie-6226@reddit
Came here to post this. Those weird pangolin things would burst into a song every time they did something. I can't remember the words but the melody lives in my head since childhood.
Birdy_78@reddit
This jig?
Far-Pie-6226@reddit
That's the one.
SilentSerel@reddit
Yes! I loved the pirates' song.
Eledridan@reddit
I loved this show because it was just so creative. The theme song was a banger too. Ricky Martin sings it.
KelarionPrime@reddit
I remember pretending to be a Tigershark on the jungle gem at school fairly frequently.
Rksbi@reddit
Visionaries. I loved that show. I haven’t met anyone who’s heard of the cartoon let alone see it. It didn’t have many episodes and I think you can find all of the on YouTube now.
Significant_Dog412@reddit
Of the cartoons that made it to Britain, I've seen little mention of Defenders Of The Earth over the years. I liked it at the time.
apgeorge69@reddit
Defenders of the Earth? Was that the Flash Gordon cartoon?
Significant_Dog412@reddit
That's the one. I knew Flash Gordon from the 1980 movie, but what I didn't know until later was that it was a crossover of other old comic heroes too.
apgeorge69@reddit
This guy rules.
SlavaSobov@reddit
Random 90s Fox Kids stuff like Eeek the Cat, Life with Louie, and Ned's Newt.
apgeorge69@reddit
Eek! The Cat was amazing.
therealpopkiller@reddit
Life With Louie was hilarious. So was Bobby’s World
SlavaSobov@reddit
Definitely. The fun comedians getting their own cartoons back then was a cool thing.
Austaras@reddit
Count Duckula
apgeorge69@reddit
Have you seen Bananaman?
Austaras@reddit
Of course
molinor@reddit
Oh man. I haven’t thought about Super Ted in years. I only saw it a few times, I don’t remember how/where but I loved it.
Harlockarcadia@reddit
I loved SuperTed, rented tapes of it constantly as a kid, didn’t realize until I was an adult that Jon Pertwee (Third Doctor) did the voice of Spotty
RelevantFilm2110@reddit
I'll never understand how Count Duckula doesn't have a massive cult fandom.
blacktrufflesheep@reddit
It was done by the same animators who did Danger Mouse. Same voice actor also, David Jason.
ProjectedSpirit@reddit
I remember the intro to Super Ted raising more questions than it answered. Spotted man? Where the fuck did he come from and why did he select this random bear? I would have had an easier time accepting a super powered bear from space without the needless exposition dump.
HipHopGrandpa@reddit
Mr_SunnyBones@reddit
I loved that as a kid , only found out years later it was based on a toy line ( which didn't make it to Europe seemingly ) same thing with Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors.
UnadvancedDegree@reddit
I had the centurion and Jayce toys. Loved them.
Mr_SunnyBones@reddit
I'd have been jealous back then, he'll I'm jealous now!!
Jonestown_Juice@reddit
Pretty much all American cartoons of this era were created to sell toys lol
ProjectedSpirit@reddit
I liked Centurions but now I remember nothing about it, other than the fact it existed.
Late_Knight_Fox@reddit
Didn't they shout POWER EXTREME and have upgrades attach to them. I'm going off to youtube to see if I've made this up...?!
Ganthet72@reddit
Haha! Not a shout, but perhaps a prelude to the '90s the way they say Extreeeeeeeeeme!!
djhankb@reddit
I was the blue guy for Halloween 1986 I think. Plastic bag costume with the thin plastic shell mask that would cut your tongue. i remember that year several other kids wore the same costume and we got our masks mixed up and everyone ended up with pink eye. True story.
throwra64512@reddit
My cousin had the toys. Those things were sweet.
puyakashah@reddit
I had the blue action figure, and I knew there was a show, but I only ever saw an episode or 2.
Chumbo_Malone@reddit
I had a red guy that could split in half vertically (I think he was the bad guy). I watched the show and don’t remember a guy who could split in half like that.
uncertia@reddit
Oh shit totally forgot about this masterpiece
balthus1880@reddit
WOOOOO!
babyBear83@reddit
Have no idea about this show but it’s funny because the guy in green looks like Burt Reynolds. Which apparently was the archetype man in the 80’s that everyone modeled after.
PhysicsStock2247@reddit
BraveStarr. It wasn’t a complete unknown but it’s often overlooked. It was a space western with a Native American Marshall trying to keep the peace in a town besieged by alien thugs.
ProjectedSpirit@reddit
I loved BraveStarr and kind of recall having a crush on him when I was too young to really know that cartoon people aren't real.
kyraeus@reddit
Honestly I think most people did. At least yours was actually human. Look around at the existence of so many furries these days and realize most developed in this time frame and JUST how many of the female animal characters from these shows were over sexualized as a design decision.
Robby-Pants@reddit
I loved that show deeply for about a year.
stevesie1984@reddit
I think it was only on for one season. But there were like 50 episodes? They might have been shorter than standard, though. Like 10 minutes per and they’d show 2 in each slot?
stevesie1984@reddit
Yes! I was going to say Marshall Bravestar, but I think the title was just Bravestar.
zoom518@reddit
I saw the movie in the theater. And I was the only one there.
Majestic_Market2006@reddit (OP)
There was a movie?!
zoom518@reddit
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BraveStarr:_The_Movie
Ganthet72@reddit
I just recently learned there was a movie setting up BraveStarr's origin. Watched it on Youtube. I'd only ever seen the original series.

spacetraxx@reddit
Here’s all episodes. It’s still awesome.
gramma_moses88@reddit
Thank you kind stranger.
FriedBreakfast@reddit
STRENGTH OF THE BEAR!
British_Rover@reddit
Yup that show was awesome.
Bobo_Baggins_jatj@reddit
I loved that show. He had a mechanical horse with a big gun, I believe.
PhysicsStock2247@reddit
Thirty-thirty was rad.
Eledridan@reddit
Thirty-Thirty was the last of his kind and when he was in biped form he was as strong as Bravestarr using strength of the bear.
ferminriii@reddit
Remember the episode where they showed his background story as a young boy? He got sent to a training camp of some sort. He and a bunch of other boys had to run for miles with a mouth full of water and not drink one drop by the end. It was supposed to train the boys to be strong.
Marshall Bravestar was one of the boys that didn't make it. But he kept training and he got stronger.
It's an image that's been stuck in my head for so many years. And I feel like I'm the only person who even remembers the show was on TV.
Thomisawesome@reddit
Awesome toys. I had the cowboy. He’d quick draw when you push a button.
ConfidentOutcome9554@reddit
The show ruled
pawned79@reddit
I recommend the Secret Galaxy YT channel if you’re really into the shows in OP and comments. They’ve done retrospectives on nearly all of them.
Maniac1978@reddit
“Heathcliff, Heathcliff, no one should terrify your neighborhood”
It was a cartoon based on the Heathcliff comic strip, but I can’t remember anything about except for that line of the intro.
snortwheeze@reddit
All Stars! Bo knows.

🎵We are, we are, pro stars…🎶
Maniac1978@reddit
“Jordan jams, in your face! He’s gonna put you in your place!”
Symbiote11@reddit
Holy crap I forgot about this.
CajunBuckeye@reddit
Scrolled to see if anyone mentioned this! As a sports obsessed kid, loved this cartoon!
heycarlgoodtoseeyou@reddit
The younger folks will never know the greatness of Bo. In this show, he’s alongside the 2 of the greatest at their respective sports and, himself, is the star representing 2 sports. And it made sense to everyone at the time.
adrianhalo@reddit
Denver The Last Dinosaur…does anyone else remember this show?
Majestic_Market2006@reddit (OP)

BritOnTheRocks@reddit
Oh I just posted the same thing. I think I recorded the pilot on VHS and watched it a bunch.
Rojo37x@reddit

daughtcahm@reddit
Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors!
Xybots@reddit
Joe Straczynski, who went on to create Babylon 5, wrote for this series.
IHkumicho@reddit
I sometimes wonder if I've dreamt this or if it actually existed!
daughtcahm@reddit
I have it on dvd. Been too afraid to rewatch it though, it probably sucks.
meatus1980@reddit
I had a few of the toys! The one with a claw hand, a buzzsaw, and a bad guy one with some type of green thing
Totally_Botanical@reddit
MASK was dope!
xrelaht@reddit
Was this really that obscure? It had a pretty decent toy line, and I wasn’t the only kid watching it when I was a kid. There were comics & video games too.
Totally_Botanical@reddit
I would say it's just as obscure as most of the other mentions here, and plenty of people I've brought it up to in my life had no idea what I was talking about
xrelaht@reddit
Most of these shows didn’t have all the other media. Wiki as my source, but for what it’s worth:
Totally_Botanical@reddit
Huh. I would not have guessed that
ferminriii@reddit
Was there a car that had gullwing doors that allowed it to fly? And a motorcycle that converted to a helicopter? I think those are the only two vehicles I remember.
keepcalmscrollon@reddit
Correct on both points. It was a red car driven by the good guy leader who was the grey guy front and center. The motorcycle was green. And the bad guy leader (blue guy to the right of the grey guy) had an airplane that turned into a helicopter, IIRC. My brothers and I actually had those.
I also remember black van where the back popped up to be a machine gun turret and a long haul truck can that was kind of a mobile command center.
schleepercell@reddit
matt trakker and miles mayhem lol
cjl99@reddit
Trakker's gonna lead the mission...
keepcalmscrollon@reddit
OMG those names are the best! Peak 80s idgf toy-sales-first "creativity".
Had totally forgotten that.
Totally_Botanical@reddit
It was 2 bad guys that were twins
Spackleberry@reddit
I had the Jeep that opened up, and a boat popped out from the front.
ceejceejceej@reddit
I had the motorcycle, it was so cool
Rabbitrules87@reddit
Thunder hawk was the car I believe that had the gull wing doors. It was my favorite.
Far-Pie-6226@reddit
I think the car was a boat. You pressed a button and the front of the car turned upside down.
Manticore1023@reddit
I loved the cartoon, and I had a few of the toys (Bruce's big rig, the Venom leader's helicopter, and that guy with the Chevy Blazer). never did get Matt Tracker's Camaro though. :(
Available-Map-1144@reddit
Mask crusaders. Working overtime. Fighting crime. Fighting CRIME!
therealpopkiller@reddit
And the theme song went hard
Symbiote11@reddit
Still have all mine in storage.
LifePedalEnjoyer@reddit
Super cool toys. The figurines were so tiny that they made the vehicles seem huge.
eLishus@reddit
Best thing about MASK toys, for me, was that the helmets also fit the M.U.S.C.L.E. Men. We didn’t have a ton of $ growing up, so I didn’t get the super cool figures or full sets. Mixing and matching toys to create my on universe.
hennsippin@reddit
I had the Boulder Hill base. Forgotten all about it
IchibanChef@reddit
It's on Tubi if you are feeling nostalgic. I tried to watch, but it was tough.
CarfDarko@reddit
Fun fact: Matt Tracker (grey suit/red helmet) is the same voice actor as Psycho Mantis from Metal Gear Solid.
Durakus@reddit
The theme song for MASK is amazing.
MutantSquirrel23@reddit
Muh muh muh Mask. MASK!
sinisterblogger@reddit
MASK crusaders working overtime fighting crime fighting crime!
Abidarthegreat@reddit
I had many of the toys and my parents have photos of throwing me a MASK themed bday party
WrenchNRatchet@reddit
I like to imagine a scenario where someone shows up dressed as Rocky from the Cher movie “Mask”
js4873@reddit
I LOVED mask! To the extent that it wasn’t til I was an adult that I realized it wasn’t mainstream.
keepcalmscrollon@reddit
Hell ya! I legit think of it from time to time and how cool the premise was. Or, at least, seemed to a kid. I'm surprised it hasn't been floated again. I think it could be pretty sweet in live action. Guess that could be nostalgia goggles, though.
lil_grey_alien@reddit
Yes! This was what I was going to mention!
AdComfortable5486@reddit
Silverhawks was the shit! I had so many of the toys! Robotech was HUGE in Japan and only limited scope here - but weaboo otakus have since really picked up on it.
My favourite one that nearly nobody has ever heard of let alone seen was Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors.
phillium@reddit
I loved Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors! Definitely one of those rarely discussed ones.
5th_gen_woodwright@reddit
This is the answer - we need a modern remake
jp112078@reddit
This was my weird pick as well. But as a kid it was also a little off putting with the growing vines. Kinda “invasion of the body snatchers” feel. Just found out it was a French import!
AdComfortable5486@reddit
Well - I read about it on Wikipedia, it was a French and Canadian production so that might explain why it wasn’t more popular in the US.
s-ro_mojosa@reddit
Hokey premise, fantastic cartoon.
AdComfortable5486@reddit
Which one?
s-ro_mojosa@reddit
Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors.
AdComfortable5486@reddit
Oh yeah - super hokey. Result of designing a TV series with the express purpose of selling an already developed toy line. lol
balthus1880@reddit
Silverhawks had a dude with a guitar...I was so into it.
AdComfortable5486@reddit
Yeah - and his name was “Bluegrass” and he was blue - and he flew their spaceship/jet.
Symbiote11@reddit
And Bluegrass’s guitar also shot frickin lasers.
AdComfortable5486@reddit
YES!!!!!
DetenteCordial@reddit
The only toys I had were Copperkid and Buzzsaw. Buzzsaw is still around in a box somewhere. Copperkid broke in half.
Classic_Barnacle_844@reddit
You just opened up some deep memories, both of those shows were on my top three faves!
soul_motor@reddit
Was that the one where the kids transformed into a car?
AdComfortable5486@reddit
No, but they had cool car/vehicles. And the evil mutant plant enemies transformed into cars.
TalesByScreenLight@reddit
"Cro"
A woolly mammoth who can talk is thawed out in modern times. He recounts stories of his Cro-Magnon friend Cro, who uses simple engineering to solve problems for his adoptive Neanderthal family.
xrelaht@reddit
I remember this one! It was done well enough that one of those science magazines for kids used the characters to teach stuff.
needsmorequeso@reddit
Well now I have the theme song stuck in my head.
originalbrowncoat@reddit

xrelaht@reddit
My best friend growing up was obsessed with it.
Harlockarcadia@reddit
This toys were so cool, I was jealous, buddy of mine had one
originalbrowncoat@reddit
For a cartoon Exosquad had some pretty good world building and storylines.
Also a banger intro
seanie_rocks@reddit
The toys were amazing, too. They all had that little jack in the backs of their heads where they plugged into their suits!
Captain3leg-s@reddit
I searched for this response because I've never met another person who watched an episode. I had every toy they and I gave them away to some younger cousins.
0fruitjack0@reddit
you're not alone but there are few of us
ShortBrownAndUgly@reddit
These were the last toys I collected and they were so awesome. I was so disappointed when the video game sucked
Majestic_Market2006@reddit (OP)
ExoSquad!! I came across parts of one of those action figures in a box of Lego and couldn't remember the name of the for the life of me.
WrenchNRatchet@reddit
How about “Visionaries” where Merlin gives a bunch of knights the power to turn into holographic animals on their chests?
Or “Spiral Zone” where a mad scientist makes a sort of zombification zone shaped like a spiral that makes people mean and have red patches on their skin
noonesaidityet@reddit
I'm gonna stop scrolling, because Spiral Zone is the only correct answer. I've met maybe two other human beings who knew what I was talking about when I'd bring up Spiral Zone.
penywinkle@reddit
The crazy thing for me is that I can clearly remember watching it as a kid. But I took FAR too long to find its title as an adult, despite the internet and all... And I felt like I dreamed it all until relatively recently.
SunVoltShock@reddit

Robby-Pants@reddit

"it's crime fighting time!"
Garf_artfunkle@reddit
COPS has two of my favorite dumb cartoon character names: The Cops' chief is "Elliot 'Bulletproof' Vess", and the fellow on the bottom in the maroon hat and double-breasted coat is "Buttons McBoomboom". Christ almighty, we were spoiled.
ferminriii@reddit
The main bad guy might have been called fat cat in this show? They were always trying to get to the top mafia boss? I don't know if I knew what kind of crime the guy did. He just did some sort of generic organized crime. The main black guy in the trench coat was the leader right? I feel as though I've seen this show a handful of times but it wasn't something that I watched regularly.
therealpopkiller@reddit
He was just called Big Boss. Fat Cat was Rescue Rangers
schleepercell@reddit
The action figures had cap guns lol
woohhaa@reddit
I wants those action figures so bad I was contemplating shoplifting them when I was a kid.
emjay144@reddit
Secret Galaxy just did a retrospective on that show . It was pretty good.

Right? There has even been a movie in the works for the last few years. Definitely not outside of mainstream. In fact didn't they just put out an updated version on Netflix or something a few years back?
Symbiote11@reddit
Yes but the Netflix version was vastly different. I tried watching a bit of it.

SunVoltShock@reddit
The La Brea Tar Pits seemed to be front and center on the minds of many cartoons in the 80s.

Ah...Robotech is incredibly well known. Maybe not the bastardized US version.
Instead, I nominate Botsmaster. It's Laser Times, Boys!
GutsAndBlackStufff@reddit
That was a fever dream growing up because it always came on when it was time to go to school
ionlycome4thecomment@reddit
Good reason to skip school!
CinnamonPinch@reddit
Looooved Bots Master. I still think it would make an excellent scifi movie. Great world building.
hendyir@reddit
Haha, Bots Master.
I was looking for that cartoon a couple of month ago. All I remember was the robot ninja with rollerskate, who I thoutght was named Ninjazz.
Symbiote11@reddit
I never could get into Robotech as kid but it always looked cool. Just the window or something. But I was always a little bothered that their mechs looked the same as Skyfire/Jetfire from Transformers.
phillium@reddit
Bots Master was an odd one for me. I don't remember if I caught it when it was first airing, or maybe on reruns later on, but all I had was a vague memory of some cartoon that had a 3d section each episode. I searched and searched and had no luck finding it, until I realized that it wasn't anime (robots, fancy 3d graphics, poor memory on my part, it was understandable to not have much to go on), and finally figured out it was this show.
MCA2142@reddit
Robotech only exists as the “bastardized U.S. version”, as it is a mashup of different anime series, done specifically for the U.S. market.
They’re made from Macross (Suuuuuper well known and popular), Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross, and MOSPEADA
thumbtackswordsman@reddit
I watched it at the neighbour's place, but sometimes their grandma made us switch the channel to her soaps. I was so obsessed, especially with the first part.

Maybe a regional thing but I grew up in the SF bay area and Robotech was huge in early to mid 80s. Later in jr hugh and high school my friends were into comics and anime/manga was still very niche.
To the question, though, there was a cartoon on Sundays called Fantastic Max that no one i knew watched but I seemed to catch it every week.

I’m on the other side of the world and grown men still wear Robotech t-shirts to 40 years later.

Pole Position, it had one season of 13 episodes. Not shown in the image are my two favorite characters, Wheels and Roadie, the AI personalities of the protagonists' cars akin to KITT from Knight Rider.

The Pole Position cartoon was insane. Three siblings continue on a traveling car stunt show after the death of their parents except the show is just a cover as they are sanctioned by the US government to fight crime. The cars had all kinds of gadgets and were run by sentient computers (not unlike KITT from Knight Rider, but with faces), and their pet was a raccoon monkey hybrid. Batshit, but a perfect encapsulation of where we were in 1984

Was that the one with the gun you shot at the TV? Didn't they have VHS tapes that came with the guns, too?
keepcalmscrollon@reddit
I think so. Except I don't think it was guns. At least, not just guns. What I remember was toy space fighters – like off brand x-wings, that could somehow shoot and be shot at by the fighters on TV. I only ever saw commercials but they seemed like the coolest thing ever. I wonder if and how that all worked?
Symbiote11@reddit
Yes I had the main guys ship. Basically, the bad guys on the show at sections that glowed a certain way kind of like Tron but more flashing lights. The ship/gun had a light sensor to know when you had it pointed at the right spot. Also, some of the laser is the bad guys would shoot flash a certain way, so you’d know if your ship was getting hit. If you got hit too many times, your character in the ship would get ejected.
I played with the ship as a kid incorporated into my other toys. But I think I only played with the video a couple times. I don’t think it was that accurate for one. It was the duck hunt. And maybe the novelty wore off because they were always in the same place when you watch the tape. And the product was short-lived I think.
The thing that blows my mind is, I forgot it was live action until this thread.
phillium@reddit
I'm in the same boat. Never had the toys, but just remember the commercials.

(Meredith was the Penguin from Batman, Rocky's trainer who dies in part III after getting attacked by Mr T IIRC, and the guy in Twilight Zone who finally had time to read all the books he wanted, if you didn't know. He was, oddly, a reoccurring character in my childhood).

People haven't heard of Battle of the Planets/G-Force???
Significant_Dog412@reddit
I hadn't until the internet. Not sure if it just never came to Britain (we were even further behind the US on anything Japanese, despite places like France and Italy getting anime earlier), or was a bit too early in the 80s for me.
Mr_SunnyBones@reddit
It did air in the UK , but maybe before your time! It was on one of the Saturday morning BBC shows in the mid 80s ..what's really weird is , I'm in Ireland , RTE ( Irish TV station) showed the Battle of the Planets version on Saturday mornings , and BBC showed G-Force shortly after , and both shows were remixes basically of a show called Gatchaman , so shared some characters etc , but not others!

Cheers. Looking online, I'm seeing 84/85 UK air dates which would explain me missing it, being only 2-3. Mysterious Cities of Gold is another cartoon often cited in the UK as "early anime" that I just missed.

The Silverhawks theme song has been my ringtone for as long as I have been able to have custom ringtones :) still not sick of hearing it.

I definitely watched the Police Academy animated series, both seasons of Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventures (AND the live-action series, the actual thing in this list you've never heard of), and Where's Waldo.

I don’t know if it qualifies , as it was a game, but in my imagination it was a full on cartoon: Drakkhen.
GhostChips42@reddit
It wasn’t really a cartoon, but I feel like I’m the only one of my friends who remembers Terrahawks.

Paw Paw Bears! I actually collected all the merchandise from the show as well. If you Google Paw Paw Bears and see a picture of PVCs and plushies, it's very likely my personal collection.

I had so many one of action figures from failed TV/toy projects. Most of which came from a discount sore called Bargain Town.
One of these toys from Darkstar, I think. He was an orange wolf guy with a translucent body. You could turn a wheel on his back that made sparks inside his chest.

I had a Centurion (the water guy with green armor) and Leoric from Visionaries.
Also had a bunch of late He-Man toys from The Horde and Snake Men villainous factions.

I remember g-force and silver hawks! Not the others you mentioned. Someone mentioned mask and shirt tales, I remember them! Do you remember the snorks? I only recall the theme song.
Majestic_Market2006@reddit (OP)
Yeah! The Snorks were like underwater Smurfs. Snorked that snorking snorker right is his snork!

Alright team, this has been eluding me for years, if this rings any bells, please let me know.
Was around late 80s I'm guessing. It was a whole family of...global crime fighters/heroes, each having their own unique ability. Mom n Dad were at the helm n I think there were two or three kids. Older boy wore like a karate kid style bandana n would meditate and I think his expertise was like martial arts. I think they wore uniformish outfits, either khaki or gray with red/blue/yellow highlights. I think one of them could fly, but not all of them, so they had a ship to move the whole team around.
Thats all of the fever dream i can recall...Any guesses?

Whenever I see Silver Hawks, I get flashbacks of trying to do a backflip into a hotel pool and busting my head open. My mom had given me a Silver Hawks toy on that visit. I ended up losing it in the hotel.

I saw all these in LatAm except for Galaxy Rangers. They sold a tape with a book at one of the fast food places as the kids meal. Was really cool. I saw an episode much later on.

Gatchaman was HARDLY unknown.

Here’s one that didn’t last long and I get blank stares when I recall it: Kid Super Power Hour with Shazam! It was half live action, half animation show that featured the original Hero High School concept. This was in 1981.
