I will say we are finally see them attempting to call out what they donāt like about trump. Itās only recent and hardly what it should be. And there are still people fighting back against them. āSo what if heās a little corruptā
They are slowly starting to lose faith.
Traditional-Handle83@reddit
Wait till the price of everything skyrockets. Thats probably what will cause them to see differently because it will affect them directly and immediately.

Eh, I'm sure we'll still be hearing "this is Biden's economy".

Yeah, I heard someone blame Soros for something the other day. Dude is 94 and gives a little money occasionally, but they still think he's some kind of mastermind. Sheesh.

Hey, go ahead. You're tariff expert? What do you know?
jram2000@reddit
They changed thier post rules so you need flair to post. Essentially your options of flair are different flavors of conservative so they can enjoy the echo chamber of why do libs like gangs and taxes...
giftedbutloco@reddit
Nope, the thing is we don't care. This is about driving them out and putting our plants and people back to work. Buy American and you won't have a problem. America will never ever be rocked, ever. Do your best Asia, don't forget what happens if your biggest consumer doesn't consume.
Longjumping-Lie7119@reddit
I understand the average American has less brain cells than fat rolls, but this will never happen. America has always relied on free trade with other countries and your manufacturing industry can not compete with China. Nor do you have the natural resources that many other places have. Try again.
giftedbutloco@reddit
Uhhhh did it last time and worked out just fine. Already breaking down entire economies of countries pushing back. Their own currencies failing. You can try and post this a year from now when the true results pull in. But here's a thought, if you're not in the usa maybe you should worry about your own country instead of trying to get up votes on reddit with your crybaby garbage. But please yes et us know what country you live in that is so concerned about ours. What glorious perfect country do you reside in? Please enlighten us with your heightened worldly fact based knowledge.
Longjumping-Lie7119@reddit
Except you didnāt do it last time. China was completely unaffected by Trumpās first four years in office. Try again.Ā
And, yeah, people have to worry about the USA because itās a superpower and a trade giant. Of course theyāre going to worry when your president attempts to impose tariffs on everybody. Once again, youāre proving Americans have more fat rolls than brain cells.Ā
giftedbutloco@reddit
What rock did you climb out from. Have you been paying attention at all? Any clue why tarrifs were placed on Canada? Because Canada allowed China to come and build plants to skirt the tarrifs. Duuuhhhhh once again proving you're an illiterate liberal nonsense speaking š¤” SMH some people are just born stupid i guess. How about fucking reas instead of getting your news from social media š¤” good luck with all that. Worry about yourself and your country. What happens here is clearly NOT of your concern. Fuck off nicely š maybe stick your nose somewhere that some gives a shit. clearly i do not give two fucks anything you have to say or write, especially since you're not of this country. Also given your writing level I'd have to say not a combat veteran either. Thus I have zero respect for you. So as I said you can go fuck yourself in the nicest way. >farts loudly & leaves<
Longjumping-Lie7119@reddit
His tariffs on Canada were supposedly a response to the fentanyl crisis and migrants across the border, not to China. Huh? His tariffs on Mexico were the same, even though āMericas demand for drugs fuels the drug cartels because Americans are the biggest consumers of recreational drugs worldwide.
He also slapped tariffs on Australia, which hasnāt had tariffs on āMerica in 30 years. This is only going to drive people towards China, which is quickly exceeding the US. Alienating all your allies, especially the Anglosphere countries like Canada and Australia which have always been the USā biggest allies, isnāt going to work out well.Ā
giftedbutloco@reddit
You're not getting it. Each odd country getting tariffs is catering to China behind the USA's back. That is what these tarrifs is all about. That and putting our own people back to work vs looking for handouts. Another thing you fail to add and just want to attack Trump. How come you're not bringing up Biden also increased tarrifs on China and other countries? Nobody brought up Biden hanging the phone up on Zelinsky a few weeks back with the white house gone to shit either. It's just a bunch of garbage media driven bullshit. Dig deeper and you'll find the truth. Kind of like that internet for everyone shitbag scam Biden put forth. STILL YEARS LATER HAS NOT ENGAGED. Yea look that horseshit scam up, John Stewart's mind just got blown off that nonsense. Everything you're throwing at me is garbage liberal fucktard media pushed lying trash. Not saying you're the liar, just more so you're buying into it without looking at both sides of the coin. Aaand then going further to deeper sources to expose the truth and compare them all together. Of course the republican party has scams and shams. They all fucking do and you don't believe then go back the rock you came from because being out here with us is hopeless for you. No hate, just truth. That's the difference between a republican and a democrap libtard. The true republican doesn't really care what your political beliefs are. We will listen to you and attempt to help you see the real truth. The democrap libtard will shout at you, call you names and unfriend you, even after years of a great friendship. Mental issues there 100% yeaaa we gotta go buy teslas to save the planet. Waaaiit no burn those to the ground, who gives a shit how bad that is the atmosphere.
Longjumping-Lie7119@reddit
Why wouldnāt they trade with China? Itās ridiculous to say theyāre trading behind USā back when the USā biggest trade partner is China. Is the US trading behind Taiwan and Hong Kongās back? No, theyāre just acknowledging an economic reality: China produces goods that everybody wants. Itās a large market with an incredibly large workforce due to being a country of 1 billion.Ā
Australia is trading with China because 1. China and Australia both have goods/resources the other wants and 2. Australia is closer to China than Europe or America. So of course they would rely on the Asian market. The US putting tariffs on Australia is also just punching itself in the face due to the large beef market. Now Big Macs are going to cost even more. RIP Burgerland.Ā

Yeah, a passport will be the only way to register to vote for most people. The other options are a REAL ID that shows citizenship (only available in 5 states) or a military ID. This is how I got started, and honestly, my food storage pantry has already come in handy. A couple of weeks ago we had a severe tornado warning and had to evacuate to an underground shelter. Idk if you have Ollieās where you live, but I was able to pick up a box of low sugar/high protein bars for $3-4 dollars. Excellent investment and very manageable if you pick up a box or two every week. Iāve also shopped dollar tree for no sugar added freeze dried fruit, apple sauce, and spices.
The little things add up. Good for you for taking care of your family ā¤ļø

Biden/Harris committed to unlimited genocide of the Palestinians, if they wanted those votes, they couldāve done something other than that. I don't think it was the laugh, she failed to separate herself from her predecessor. And her campaign poorly detailed key policy and messaging despite record spending
Ok_Cartographer4626@reddit
Harris had a plan put together in two weeks. Of course it was going to be missing some detail. Her debate answers were so specific that Republicans speculated she was given the questions ahead of time (š). Meanwhile Trump had four years to prepare and had āconcepts of a planā. Oh, except Project 2025 which he knew absolutely nothing about at allā¦
It makes no sense to criticize Harris on preparedness when she outperformed Trump by miles and had only a few months to do it.
RedWinger7@reddit
Did she outperform trump by miles? One is in the White House, the other is not.
She ran a terrible campaign. Sure, she āwonā the debates, but that was going to be a given agains Trump. i think a lot had to do with the attempted murder of Donald; i imagine that tugged on a sort of primal instinct, which caused many people, who otherwise wouldnt vote, to keep a 'mental note' to vote for him. KJBNH@reddit
Why should they be different from Biden?
StrudelCutie1@reddit
Biden was reaping the consequences of a generation-long ignoring of the Sherman Antitrust Act. He thought there was still enough slack in the economy to ramp up production and tame inflation, but there had been too many mergers for this to happen anymore. Part of me wishes Harris had come out in favor of breaking up the mergers, but the realist in me knows that the American people are far too stupid to understand antitrust and this wouldn't have made any difference to the election.
AdditionalAd9794@reddit
Because Bidens approval and opinion poll numbers were in the dumpster.
People were not happy or confident with the direction of the country under Biden. Failure to separate herself from that is the reason she lost.
That said with the way things appear to be headed, the next republican will have to separate themselves from Trump to have a chance
Different-Side5262@reddit

Biden ran for reelection because he thought that only he could beat Trump. (Unrealistic, considering his approval rating.) The rules forbid doing the primaries all over again. When a candidate suspends his campaign, his delegates get to vote for someone else. His delegates obeyed his order to vote for Harris, so we didn't get a brokered convention.
The cynical part of me thinks that he endorsed Harris because he wanted an awful candidate who would go down in flames. "If I can't be president, no Democrat can!"
Ello_Owu@reddit
She held up her administrational wins and showcased that we were on the right path with more beneficial policies coming down the pipe.
But Trump and the billion dollar right-wing media machine took the wind out of those sails, by making trumps failures look like bidens.
Like, It's rare to hear about the pandemic economy blowing up under Trump, but you'll hear constant howling at the economy Biden inherited and wasn't fixing fast enough.
AdditionalAd9794@reddit
Curious, the current economic situation would you say this is Trump, or what Trump inherited?
Realistically it's doesn't matter, what matters is messaging, how you control the narrative, what the normal voters sees and believes. This is a big part of why Biden, I mean Kamala, lost.
Sigmundschadenfreude@reddit
Trump inherited a reasonably impressive stock market on the rise which he has carelessly torpedoed. Admittedly, he also inherited an economy where the average person is struggling more than the democrats ever wanted to admit (I believe largely out of pathetic ignorance due to fixating on metrics that don't really reflect real people and their struggles), and that's very much on Biden and is an element of why Kamala lost. However, Trump is also preparing to make that worse too with his tariffs.
Ello_Owu@reddit
Trump, within two months, took a wrecking ball to our systems that we rely on, at home and globally, has threatened our allies with essentially war, and been on and off and on again with Tariffs causing the stock market to go into seizures thanks to the unpredictability.
Biden got our economy on the ground after covid, but it was still on shakey ground when he left office, then Trump came in like a hurricane, so yea, I don't blame him for what's happening now

Plant potatoes
symplton@reddit
Fill up on fuel on your way home. It's never going to be cheaper than it is right now again for a while. We're doubling our garden commitment, including a 1/4 acre of potatoes (yukon gold) and 1/4 acre of fruit (apple trees and berry bushes.)

I think the drying up of international trade will cause something like the Great Recession, and gas got really cheap then.

My husband with cancer has been saving meds. Skipping a dose here and there to have a reserve. Itās not how he wants to care for himself but he is very concerned. We eat from scratch, have a tiny garden ( we are elders ) I still work. We save cash as best as we can. We have an exit ramp but it would be a dire situation for him. This is taking such a toll on elders who are sick. We try to view and read uplifting info to keep balanced. Any other suggestions? It would be appreciated.

fecal_encephalitis@reddit
I've lost family to cancer. Pertaining to your husband - look into medicinal mushrooms. Not magic mushrooms. Seriously, there are many kinds in anti-cancer drug trials right now.
https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC3339609/ https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9504980/
They are cheap, have little to no side effects, have a lot of other benefits like cognition boost and decrease in insulin resistance, and have tons of antioxidants. To name a few: reishi, chaga, cordyceps, lion's mane, even shiitakes. You can copy-paste the names in the articles into Google to find their common names. If society collapses, you won't be able to get daratumamab, prograf, or the kind of radiation you want, but reishi, turkey tail, etc. literally grow out of wood and the ground, and they're free. You can buy some at farmers markets, but they make capsule supplements full of multiple powdered mushrooms you can buy. I even grew reishi at home.
Antioxidants protect your DNA from free radicals like reactive oxygen species, which damage DNA due to their strong electric charges that rip off atoms/protons and destabilize bonds. They are usually just physically long molecules that can take on these charges and stabilize them just by being present in your blood and body. Astaxanthin is a great one, very potent. Damage to DNA is what causes cancer, specifically when a gene in charge of limiting cell division gets altered or deleted. These don't reverse damage, but they can help prevent it. You find them in tannins in wine and nuts, too. Ever wonder why plants don't get sunburn? Chlorophyll acts an antioxidant. Eat plants!
Also, everyone, feel free to chime in if I got any details wrong. There are new cancer treatments coming out that use monoclonal antibodies to target specific cells for killing by your NK cells, maybe complement, too, but they are insanely expensive because they're cutting-edge and brand new. 1 round of IvIg is like 50k, if I heard correctly. The goal of most other therapies is just to kill the cancer before it kills you.
Not a doctor; I'm a med lab scientist. Good luck - you got this.

Except for Korea, as Hyundai announced 20 billion for more factories in the US to avoid tarriffs.
But I mean who wants a Hyundai anyway

AdditionalAd9794@reddit

Suzuki? As per my Google search I get a bunch of power sport, motor sport shops, no car dealerships. Maybe, you could buy a car from a power sport shop?
Thoraxe474@reddit
I see people driving Suzuki cars but no dealerships. It's a conspiracy I tell ya!
grahamfiend2@reddit

Iāll preach this until I die. No company is relocating factories to the US in response to the tariffs. Any company making these announcements had planned the move years ago.
No business person is sitting in their office going ācrap, tariffs are on, time to invest billions in the USā
Theyāre going ācrap, tariffs are on, time to pause most spending until we see if the tariffs even happen, or if they do happen, will it be for a few days or longer?ā
Tariffs only spur business activity when business leaders are certain the tariff will be in place for years or even decades.
AdditionalAd9794@reddit
My understanding is Hyundai in particular was already in the process due to EV tax breaks, they only apply to vehicles built in the US. But they've since announced another $20 billion in response to the tarriffs and plan to build non EVs in these factories now, in addition to EVs they already had planned
symplton@reddit
They'll talk the talk and maybe even buy some land, but in 2 years, when the midterms arrive, they'll have hedged that this all gets (hopefully) undone.
Multinightsniper@reddit
I wouldn't be shocked if most of the factories that were being planned to come to the U.S be withdrawn. That would ruin one of their right's last points of "WELL HURR DURR TRADE WAR FINE BC FACTORIES WILL COME BACK DURGGGG"
GlitteringChipmunk21@reddit
Not sure that that factory coming online in several years (and still being dependent on imported parts) makes much of a difference the way those tariffs are structured.
Frankly the first thing Hyundai ought to do is cancel that investment, since all the rest of it's cars will be tariffed.
Endingsevens@reddit
The factories were contracted and planned to be build under Biden, and to be EVs- now theyāre switching to hybrids. There was an article in NPR today. They just got lucky avoiding tariffs.
