The Mosler Consulier GTP, one weird looking sports car from the late 80s. Only 70-ish were sold.

Need it.

The fact that they were banned from every racing series for being too good in it's day makes them even cooler
airfryerfuntime@reddit
And that's after they forced them to add 300 pounds to the car. It was still essentially unbeatable, so they just banned it outright.
tomato432@reddit
by that time the damage was already done a long time ago because car and driver cheated to give the corvette C4 a win against a worn out GTP
Thirsty_Comment88@reddit
Wow. The people at Car & Driver were fucking assholes.

I was going to bring up the suzuki samarai scandal but that was consumer reports.
DipplyReloaded@reddit
This guy knew how to make a fast af car but man he should’ve hired a designer
HighHiFiGuy@reddit
Yesterday I saw one for sale at exotic car dealer in Ft Lauderdale.
Count_Dongula@reddit
Where and for how much? These things haven't exactly kept their value, so I figure it's a nice cheap way into the exotic sports car market.
trolllord45@reddit
Cheap only in entry price. If hate to think of the maintenance costs for a car like this

Driveline parts were sourced first from Chrysler, then based on the Chevy small-block (pre-LS) from the '90s. If the body sustains damage you're screwed, but replacement parts for the engine/drivetrain could be handled by AutoZone in a pinch.
hankjmoody@reddit
It's fiberglass, ain't it? If so, just get chummy with your local boat repair shop. They'll get it fixed.
zeno0771@reddit
The frame was fiberglass. The body was Kevlar/carbon-fiber.
HighHiFiGuy@reddit
Man I don’t know there are A LOT of used exotic car dealers here. It was one by the Bentley/RR dealer.
pastanutzo@reddit
Wow this a cobby looking chassis. Was someone’s nephew an aspiring designer?
hammertonail@reddit
These pictures were taken at Lime Rock park in Connecticut. The owner brings it to the historic festival car show every year.
piray003@reddit
Wasn’t there a version with split windshield? Supposedly it improved the aerodynamics, but made an already fugly car even fuglier. Ultimate function over form machine.
mortalcrawad66@reddit
Yes, and it was called the Mosley Raptor.
daxelkurtz@reddit
