The Boonie Bug was a home built car. The plans were originally for sale in Mechanix Illustrated in the 80s. They were produced by Robert Q Riley through his company, Quincey-Lynn Enterprises. The plans were still available online throughout the aughts and teens on Riley's website RQRiley.com. However, Riley passed away during COVID. Apparently none of his heirs chose to continue his work, the site is no more.
Other plans that were available were the Tri-Magnum, the Urba Town Car, Tri-muter, the Phoenix Van, a shallow depth submarine, and others. Many of his cars used alternative powertrains. He created electric runabouts, a high mpg diesel car, and both traditional and reverse trikes, and a diesel-electric hybrid reverse trike.
His cars can be seen in Back to the Future 2, Total Recall (original), and maybe RoboCop (can't remember that one for certain).
God, I fuckin’ loved those things when I was six. All that metal flake paint and fiberglass. It used to piss me off that they had steering wheels at every seat, though. I always made sure I got the real drivers’ position. Hands off that wheel, jerk, I’m driving this rig.
This looks like something from one of the Kroft Superstars shows, or just about any Kroft show. Banana Splits, Electra Woman and Dyna Girl, Wonderbug, Bugaloos, H.R. Puff N Stuff... as I think of it, the only Kroft show where I couldn't see this vehicle fitting in Land Of The Lost.
Ian Roussel is an artist. His vehicles are built strictly for looks. 99% of what he has built is at the very least awkward and uncomfortable for the driver, but the driver isn't the point. The crazy ass designs are his point, and he makes that point very clearly...
Signed some bald guy that likes to build crazy shit , but lacks the savings account to do so. I'd give 60.or 70 hours a week to get my chance to put my designs to the public. My dumbest, unobtainable dream is to have a vehicle at S.E.M.A

The Urba Town Car

This looks like it came off of one of those children's amusement park rides with cars that go in circles and have horn buttons.
VirtualLife76@reddit
Pretty sure most cars have horn buttons. /s
