I still haven’t watch the final episode of the grand tour

I’ve been a die heart fan since 5th grade and they always manage to bring me joy throughout all these years. I somehow just don’t have the courage to watch the final episode as it gives me a feel that if I don’t watch it, I can keep hoping they will upload another new episode one day just like what they used to do. Am I the only one like this?
emwashe@reddit
Same. If i don’t watch it. It’s not over.
Ima get around to it but i gotta be in the mindset
Jim_skywalker@reddit
There’s no legal obligation to never do that kind of thing again. Sure they get all sentimental but tomorrow is not set in stone. Look at all those times actors retire only to come out of retirement because there was something that interested them.
modivin@reddit
Same for me. I will click it one day eventually, but I don't feel like doing it yet
Jim_skywalker@reddit
Just watch it. If it is the last one then it is, but they’re not legally bound to that. They might feel like doing something again and might not, but it’s a gold mine of an episode no matter what.
Ketchup1211@reddit
Here’s the reality, the show is over with the OG trio no matter if you watch it or not. That is what it is. You’re only doing yourself a disservice by not going through the finale as a long time fan. It’s a tremendous send off.
alexamnr7@reddit
The last episode is AMAZING! The end of the episode is just… I can’t even say anything because I really don’t want to spoil it for anyone, but it is powerful!
cwhitel@reddit
Watch the original botswana(?) special many years ago before this.
My memory is bad but they revisit the same place and see the same cars in the finale and reference the Botswana(?) episode often.
bromezz@reddit
I'm with you, I'm still working up the emotional energy to watch it. It sounds silly, I know. But I've been watching them since I was nine years old. I've spent most of my life watching those three.
I'll watch it eventually, likely sobbing the entire time.
RangerExpensive6519@reddit
I’ve watched it since the beginning of top gear and can’t bring myself to watch the last episode. Just add it to the list of shows that haven’t ended for me. Dexter weeds curb true blood etc etc.
Ok_Pineapple1225@reddit
I am literally taking my whole family there.. for easter holidays.. Big Z.. here we come.. top gear.. grand tour.. but yes seriously just watch it, totally won't pull your heart strings

And I thought I was the only one. I also can't bring myself to watch the final episode. My wife thinks that I'm crazy, but for me I don't want to let go of something that I loved so much for so long.
doyu@reddit
I have a youtube channel I'm doing this with.
Sailing couple who had to give it up due to a sick parent and return to land life.
I just don't want to watch it and make it real. They were my favourite and if I don't watch it, it's not actually over.
Necessary_Common4426@reddit
I watched it twice- the first time 20 mins after ir was released, and the second time a month after. The first time I saw it, I was blown away. I watched Top Gear as a teen, at uni, being deployed overseas with the army and I always watched it with mates. With each different section of the show I was reminded of all of those experiences and the people I had in my life during those periods. The second time I watched it, I remembered other experiences and people during that time and having Top Gear as a constant reference and was a great way to remember those things.
I’m biased, the ending was the Chef’s kiss.
fighting_pcock@reddit
Me too, you aren’t alone
TheMatt561@reddit
do it, it hurts but it's beautiful.
Western2486@reddit
It’s good but not great, has a lot of nice sentimental moments but a lot of others that feeling like they’re doing a greatest hits album.
py_of@reddit
me and a friend are saving it for some time in the future. we have an event that will signify a lot to us and are going to watch it once we complete our goals.
NetJnkie@reddit
I think you're taking this too seriously.
LloydChristmas_PDX@reddit
Exactly, it’s a tv show, it’s not like your child is dying
Status-Event-8794@reddit
Did I watch it? Yes.
Did I ugly cry at the end? Yes
Would I do it again? 200% Yes.
It's bittersweet but it's incredible closure.
Usual_Minimum_7442@reddit
It took me a long time too
FoodHot6411@reddit
You must! Perfect ending!
pmcall221@reddit
You are missing out on a wonderful coda. It's a great end. It provides closure. Remember, we had 20 years of them. It was great, but you have to let them go eventually.
HeatherBThyName423@reddit
You will love the ending. I am tearing up right now thinking of how they ended it. It was perfect. I completely understand how you feel. You can watch it & still have hope for some kind of reunion show one day…
VonDinky@reddit
The show is alive for as long as you are. You can always go back and rewatch.
H3NDOAU@reddit
Go watch it, and then when you're done you can do a re-watch.
I went back and watched all of Top Gear + Grand Tour last year after it ended.
No-Bed-9998@reddit
As someone who legit just started watching Grand tour and top gear after it was already over the finale is the one I've now rewatched the most. I had seen clips and bits over the years but I finally started watching random episodes on Amazon not even fully aware right away that it had literally just ended. I've now gone back and watched damn near everything but if I need a good sorta comfort episode I put the finale on. Please do yourself a huge favor and watch it and then rewatch the original special again and see how far the journey really came and went in the end
Familiar-Ad9471@reddit
you're missing out on more by not watching. it's 2 hours of what made the trio great, with probably as close to a perfect end as they/we could have hoped.

Ditto this. It was a really really well done episode.
CatalinaBigPaws@reddit
I put if off for a while, but once I watched it, I was glad. It got me a bit choked up, but it was sooo good and a great homage to their past.
Please do not listen to those that say leave 5-10 minutes unmatched so it doesn't end. They so nailed the ending and it was perfect. If you choose not to watch that's a personal choice, but believe me, if you watch it, watch it to the end.
Joseki100@reddit
Leaving aside the fact that it's a farewell and a pretty well made one too, it's actually a really good Special on its own rights.
Truly beautiful cars, funny moments, beautiful landscapes.
PlayGamesM@reddit
It took me 3 months or more before I went to watch it.
Near the end when they say they were gonna go to Botswana and the tree, it hit me it's really near the end.
When Clarkson unplugged the mic and music rolled in......
PostModernHippy@reddit
You could try doing what I did, and watch it while about ¾ full of wine. I don't remember most of it, so in a sense, I have both seen it and not seen it.
DZA777@reddit
im in the same boat. I havn't watched it because then ill have none left. i will though, just saving it i guess
PixelPeach123@reddit
Hubs keeps wanting to.. I’m avoiding it myself…
Dio_nysian@reddit
it definitely made me cry. watch the episode, it’s really good, even if it’s sad and scary to see them leave
RaceEmbarrassed4615@reddit
I was the exact same, heart broken when I heard this was the last ever time the trio would be together.
jbourne0129@reddit
honestly, i think it was one of the best grand tour episodes.
they totally break down the 4th wall and stop trying to pretend they do all the work. like i think the montage in this episode was them like hitting a panel with a hammer and the next scene the cars are totally overhauled. There were other examples of this too and i really enjoyed it.
Clean_Increase_5775@reddit
The special itself is wonderful. Even though it’s the last one and you’ll probably shed a few tears at the end, you are missing out.
ItzMichaelHD@reddit
I am not going to watch it either for a while. As long as I’ve not watched it there’s still another grand tour for me to watch.
pr171ka@reddit
Same here, I’ve saved it for ages as watching it would make it really feel like it’s over (ik it is but it’s hard to accept…) :(
odanhammer@reddit
Time to seek therapy. In a widow and have PTSD , which has caused attachment issues
Still watched the last episode of a show I've been watching more then half my life, longer then the time in which I was married to my wife
Cautious-Map-8081@reddit
Not the only one. I blame how I met your mother on not being able to watch a series finale. I have shows that I watch many times and refuse to watch the ending. If you don't watch the ending, does it really end?
ellnhkr@reddit
It is such an hommage to what made them great. It felt heartbreaking and wholesome at the same time. It is a beautiful sad closure. Please watch it!
Thirst_Trappist@reddit
Watch it.
CharacterPeak9574@reddit
The last few specials I've held off of on watching, I will typically watch shows and get to the ending and stop one episode before the finale. If I watch it then it's all gone D:
TalkKatt@reddit
I accidentally watched it. I’ll be honest with you, I was sad for a couple of days. It truly represents the end of an era.
sporkmanhands@reddit
It’s a really, really well done piece of film and I do suggest you watch it. Have a towel or tissue nearby for the end.
Also we know it won’t be the last for the gents and clarkson.
Commontreacle1987@reddit
You should definitely watch it. It’s a good one. Do what I do, start watching them from the beginning again so it never ends.
Girfex@reddit
No, I haven't watched it yet either.
met22land@reddit
I haven’t watched the final episode of any show since Blake’s 7. You know why.
Consistent-Vacation4@reddit
Well, this is not how it is for me but I can understand where you're coming from. If you watch it it's over, the end. And that can be scary.
I wanted to watch it quickly so I can watch it again later, like all the other episodes I watch over again in intervals, and probably always will :)
So you can try to look at it another way, instead of pushing it away and delaying it you can try to change your perspective. Rather than being bummed it's over, you can be glad you actually got a lot of good episodes to watch and try being grateful for that.
Nothing lasts forever and there's a lot of value in accepting that and practicing changing ones perspective of uncomfortable things.
Careful_Trip_311@reddit
You could always stop watching 5-15 minutes before the end. Anyway I've done something similar with other shows. I forget why but for instance with Alice in Borderland I didn't watch the final episode of season 2, waiting for season 3 to come out to finish it.
Final episode of Grand Tour though? Watched it multiple times.
O_Canada_eh@reddit
I fully understand your sentiment. I was of the same mindset initially, but the need, the good stuff, the "fix", outweighed the sadness (of the show ending). I won't tell you that you should watch it or to hold off till ready. But, as some others have eluded to, tomorrow is not guaranteed. For that matter, the rest of the day/night isn't either. It seems apt that "live in the moment" is such a popular and worthy phrase but many of us don't. Will it make you richer in terms of "feel good"? To me, yes. It was and still is bitter sweet remembering the very last scene. Damn it! Who is cutting onions at this time?
Good Luck!
badpuffthaikitty@reddit
All good things must pass.
ArchieAsp@reddit
I started watching it as soon as it came out and couldnt finish it. I left it and watched old episodes of Top gear for months until i was able to restart that final episode and enjoyed it. Its almost like i need to re experience old memories before i could watch the goodbye episode
blitzwinner71@reddit
I doubt you are, though I personally can’t relate as I have watched the last one. Personally, I think it’s a disservice to their legacy by not watching it. Because it’s them doing what they’ve always done and what they do best, 3 friends driving cars while on the cutting edge of cocking about.
They ended their time on their terms as themselves, and even though they may be done, their spirit and adventure will never die.
Moondropbass@reddit
Don’t miss you. Watch it and enjoy. You can always go back and enjoy the journey again.
But you may lose the ability to watch or enjoy the finale! Tomorrow is not guaranteed. Go and finish it with them.
