You know that we had Nazis in Canada too, right?
The Canadian government allowed in plenty of Nazis to settle in Canada, and the lid is still on the information.
brrbles@reddit
Fuck, we put Nazis in charge of the American space program and it wasn't even a secret.
OrlandoBloominOnions@reddit
Had? Pretty sure you can spot them easily in Toronto
Angry_drunken_robot@reddit
OG Nazis, not the modern day larpers.
Real Nazis show up armed and in force.
OrlandoBloominOnions@reddit
Having guns doesn’t make you a real Nazi, believing in the ideology does.
nitonitonii@reddit
Most of them flee to the US, but they keep ignoring that qnd repeating the Argentina story. Even Brasil got more than Argentina.
In the US they got a safe job in NASA, the military or the government.
StunningRing5465@reddit
Occasionally they get standing ovations in parliament
RingGiver@reddit
And then people write articles to say "Just because he was in the SS doesn't mean that he actually was a Nazi."

"From the makers of the clean Wehrmacht myth comes the long-awaited sequel: Clean Schutzstaffel!"

Just occasionally, if it happens too often, some one might figure out the truth.
goddamn_I-Q_of_160@reddit
That's amazing. I've never heard of that.
Is it similar to project paperclip?

We didn't have an official 'CIA operation' like the Americans.
No, Canada just considered them 'fleeing soviet persecution', and quietly did nothing.
Even the CBC had to say a little somthing](https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/nazi-war-criminals-in-canada-1.1026670)

This seems to be a pattern with Canada, especially seeing how the recent Khalistan fiasco is turning out. Is there any reason why this seems to be a feature in Canadian politics?

Cowardice. Lack of spinal fortitude. The Canadian education system has bred more than a few generations of children to grow up to be 'nice people'.
Take a look around you.
And I don't think it's a particularly 'Canadian' thing either.
War criminals from every corner of the world settle in Canada because we have the double whammy of 1. no clear cut way to charge international criminals and 2. a 'thoughts and prayers' citizenry who are just not interested too deeply in anything.
The last one I head about was a criminal fugitive of the Rwandan genocide. He stayed comfortably in Canada long enough to sire children before his gangland style execution by Rwandans who recognized him.
quietflyr@reddit
From the CBC article you shared in another comment, he was successfully prosecuted and sentenced to life in prison. There was no gangland execution.
So basically, you're making shit up.
PerunVult@reddit
So... a propaganda nothingburger? It sounds like this was already done over 30 years ago.
tatojah@reddit
Nothing new coming from the far right. Don't be surprised if the press release is just another rick roll.
Phd_Death@reddit
Milei is far right?????????
TadeoTrek@reddit
Menem issued the decree but nothing was done afterwards and the issue was quietly pushed under the rug. This is a new attempt at releasing those same documents. If this time it'll actually be done, we'll have to wait and see...
ManWithWhip@reddit
They issued the decree and then did nothing, if it happens again you'll be right, but it was not done 30 years ago.

I'd be more interested in learning about where all the money that was made by German and American industrialists and financiers went right before the allies landed in Berlin. A lot of money was moved out of the country then repatriated years later to create Germany's post-war "economic miracle". Miracle my ass. But I doubt Germany or the EU would be too happy about that information being dug up.
Nethlem@reddit
A lot of that money ended up in Switzerland, and some of it in the US as RoI.
Those are not the parties with the most interest in keeping these parts of WWII memory-holed.
After WWII American industrialists sued the US federal government for damages, as the US military bombed factories in Nazi Germany that were US owned, they won and were awarded a lot of money in damages.

It's a good read. Which countries set up the European Coal & Steel Community, the precursor to the EU?
