I mean, that's inherently the problem with dictatorships. It's the opposite of community and shared resource and infrastructure management.
A dictator takes from the communities and centralizes power. Everyone and everything only exists (in their eyes) to further their own goals and to consolidate their power.
Only those who swear loyalty and further their own quest for power will become part of their centralized community.
In this case, it seems like there's also a disdain for people in general and detachment from their fate. They seem to think that leaving people alone, disconnected and vulnerable will further their agenda.
"Nothing matters. If you tell yourself it doesn't matter, like you do shows, you do this, you do that and then you have earthquakes in India where 400,000 people get killed. Honestly, it doesn't matter."
You have to be precise in your definitions or they become meaningless. The capitalist class has a vested interest in people diluting the term and not understanding it.
Well, what distinguishes fascism then from (extremely) authoritarian systems like in the dark ages? Is it just ""in fascism the rich USA style capitalists rule""?
Hey, I just saying that I never seen major wikis and such place such a focus on the role of capitalism as an essential part of fascism. I hate capitalism as much as the next sane person, but this definition seems more a product of r/ collapse as much as anything else.
Frankly it seems to me that this is a ""walks and quacks like a duck"" situation, and claiming, say, that NK and the USSR were not fascist really only serves to confuse the term.
Yes and you won’t find that level of analysis if you sick to the wiki level. I don’t mean that in a negative way it’s just that you will have a hard time having a frank and truthful discussion about the role of capitalism in fascism within a capitalist society currently going down the fascist route.
Those two examples are not and cannot be fascist because they were not and are not capitalist economic societies. You can argue that today’s Russia tends towards a fascist bent because it has become a capitalist economic society since the dissolution of the USSR.
If you hate capitalism that’s a good start but you need to understand the historical cycles of capitalism if you want to understand fascism otherwise we are going to keep falling for it.
Ok, to be honest, it seems this is more borne out of the (rightful) immense hatred that r /collapse harbours for capitalism than from a more objective definition.
Also, to be frank myself, I feel that the support that some of the defenders of socialism have towards police states such as the USSR and NK simply becuase they were not (overtly) capitalist systems to be rather worrying and exclusionary of what is a very apt term to describe them with.
Okay… you can do that but you’re using the term incorrectly when “authoritarian” already exists.
Fascism is just authoritarian capitalism because capitalists still have “freedom” while it’s the working class that is divided and subjugated in order to accept the worsening conditions profit demands.
This is part of the reason that liberal democracy usually ends in oligarchy upheld via fascist practices. Liberal democracy was always tolerant of capitalists seeking, gaining, and holding power and could do nothing to stop them from enacting fascism.
Agree to disagree I guess. Hard to use a term incorrectly when the definition is still up in the air anyways, and I would rather not overly restrict it based on this sibreddits opinions.
Ok, I guess fascism is now a pure construct of capitalism now. Feel free to define it as that in today's political context I suppose.
I'll remember this, but I won't also stop calling a spade a spade.
Also, obligatory ""the armchair commie worship of the USSR and NK does not win the communist and socilist movement any friends and betrays a startling lack of historical knowledge.""
Well I think we have seen that the truth doesn’t really matter in a political context. Americans and the west in general have been very propagandized to believe that capitalism = freedom = good and it’s very hard to break people out of that kind of programming because it feels really good if you don’t think too hard.
But it creates a cycle. We need to understand this to break out of it.
Considering that fascism is the merger between corporation and state, and corporations do not have the power they do outside of capitalism, it's a correct definition. You can ascribe certain attributes of fascism to other economic systems, but fascism as a whole is uniquely capitalistic in nature.
I hope nothing unnatural happens because the last thing needed is to cement martyrdom for them. Also that would be too quick, the deserved situation would be in pain, in fear and alone. To give the slightest bit back of what has been sown.

Going back to the Covid Pandemic, the indifference to mass death then has also been exemplified again with recent examples by those in power and is a sign of what to come. An increase of mortality among Americans is likely in the near future and in this age of mass death, society will probably unravel much more rapidly when those in charge of handling the crisis to come are indifferent
They're more interested in covering it up than helping. Even worse than indifference. Pipe dreams on both accounts. By midterms, of its not some "glorious red wave" the administration will say they've all been comprised and disband elections until the deepstate can be rooted out
I agree that IF the midterms are held, the results will LIKELY be corrupt. But we can strive for a peaceful solution and hope that enough Rs have felt the pain the regime imposed by then.
Why does everyone keep missing the obvious. They believe in climate change. They know we are overpopulated. This is the easiest way to reduce population without catching blame.
We really need to start pinning this on them. It is too coherent otherwise. Ever single policy reduces life expectancy and will lead to more deaths earlier.
The article titled “Welcome to the Pro-Death Administration” from The New Republic critiques the current administration under President Donald Trump and senior adviser Elon Musk, highlighting policies and actions that, according to the author, undermine public health, safety, and environmental protections.
Public Health and Disease Response
The administration has implemented significant cuts to the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), resulting in the loss of approximately 10,000 employees. These reductions affect critical agencies such as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The CDC, for instance, is expected to lose about 18% of its staff. These cuts occur amidst an ongoing bird flu outbreak among poultry, raising concerns about the nation’s preparedness for potential human pandemics. Compounding these worries, the administration has left the White House Office of Pandemic Preparedness and Response Policy understaffed, and there are reports of reconsidering a contract with Moderna to develop a bird flu vaccine. Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has even suggested allowing the virus to spread unchecked among poultry flocks.
Cancer Research Funding
The administration has also targeted cancer research, leading to the abrupt termination of projects supported by the Defense Health Research Consortium. This includes research into pancreatic, kidney, and lung cancers. Such cuts jeopardize decades of progress in cancer treatment and threaten to reverse declining mortality rates associated with the disease.
Transportation Safety
In the realm of transportation, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), responsible for researching and promoting traffic safety, has faced aggressive staffing reductions. These cuts are particularly concerning given the NHTSA’s role in investigating vehicle safety issues, including those related to Tesla’s self-driving technology. The reduction in staff dedicated to preventing auto-related deaths raises alarms about future increases in traffic fatalities.
Nuclear Safety and Environmental Policies
The National Nuclear Safety Administration (NNSA), overseeing the nation’s nuclear arsenal, is experiencing staffing challenges due to firings and buyouts. This depletion of experienced scientists and engineers poses risks to the secure management of nuclear weapons. Furthermore, the administration’s foreign policy stance has prompted countries like South Korea and Germany to consider developing their own nuclear capabilities, potentially escalating global nuclear tensions.
Environmental policies have also been rolled back, with efforts to dismantle the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), withdraw from international agreements like the Paris Climate Accord, and undo initiatives aimed at combating climate change. These actions threaten to exacerbate environmental degradation and undermine global efforts to address climate challenges.
In summary, the article portrays an administration whose policies and budgetary decisions are perceived as prioritizing economic and political agendas over the health, safety, and well-being of the populace, potentially leading to increased mortality and public health crises.
