Pollen Allergy Struggles

I’ve been hit with a pollen allergy since yesterday—my eyes are burning, and I’m struggling to breathe.
Is anyone dealing with this?
if so,are you taking any medication?

Astepro spray and Allegra. The Astepro has no generic yet so it’s expensive af and tastes nasty but it is over the counter and it’s the only thing that really helps. My allergies are awful. Last year I had allergies so bad one of my ears was clogged to the point of causing neck pain. Tried everything. Legit thought I had cancer or something. Went to the doctor and she recommended this stuff. It cleared my ear in 2 days.

Thank you so much

I hope you find something that helps. Allergies here in north Texas are worse than anywhere else I’ve ever been.

Thanks🙏 🙏

Good luck to you, my friend. The weather the past few days has my allergies and sinuses going nuts. I just took my second dose of allergy meds for the day.

You too, take care and be safe.

Allegra (not D) + Nasacort + Zaditor = how I cope. HEPA air purifiers in my house in bedroom and TV room run 24/7.
GinPinklady@reddit
I take Xyzal daily and run my air purifiers 24/7.

Allergy shots, I’m not noticing these issues any more.
But Flonase + Zyrtec is also a good combo. Keep in mind that Flonase and any other steroid nose sprays take a few days to start working and need to be used every day to be most effective, they’re not something you can take only on the bad days. Costco has generic Flonase for way cheaper than everybody else.

Are your allergy shots taken in the arm? Also, do you go to a allergy specialist or your normal doc? Thanks in advance.
trying_to_adult_here@reddit
Yes, my shots have all been in the arm. I was getting them twice a week at first (you only have to go once a week but I wanted to see results sooner), now I go once a month. I do see an allergist for them, not my PCP. At my allergist I don’t have to schedule the shot times, just show up when their shot clinic is open (until 30 minutes prior to the office closing) then stay for 30 minutes to make sure no anaphylactic reaction.
I still taken Zyrtec daily, but my allergist says I can stop except for the days I get my shots. It’s so cheap I don’t mind. I have mometasone nose spray, it’s a steroid like Flonase, just a different ingredient. I only use that occasionally for a couple weeks if I notice there’s something in the air that’s making my nose itch (before I would have been congested and sneezy and miserable). He proscribe another nose spray that I don’t need or take any more. I’m also on Cingular, which I suspect he’ll stop this summer.
I used to live off Allegra, Flonase, and Sudafed and still be miserable. This is way, way better, I should have done allergy shots 10 years ago.

Thanks for the info. I guess I need to see an allergist myself.

Allergy shots changed my life. I’m done with them now and it’s amazing. Still bothered a little when it’s bad out there but I couldn’t function before.

Thank you 🙏

Y'all. Pataday for your eyes. Costco sells it hella cheaper than Kroger/Target/etc.
3x 2.5ml vials is $35.99 (was $7 off this past month, but 35 is regular price) vs Target which is 2x 2.5ml vials for $33.99
Used to be prescription but now is OTC and is legit amazing. been using it for years.

Thanks, I have made note of this🙏

one drop a day in each eye... and you're golden.
If you wear contacts wait 5-20 minutes after doing eye drops before putting lenses in and obvs take lenses out if you are going to put more drops in.
Sometimes i do two doses a day (morning and afternoon) if the pollen is hell on earth.

i've been using curex drops everyday in the morning with either 180mg allegra or 50mcg of flonase later in the morning/afternoon. montelukast (prescription) in the evening before bed.

We're a tiny bit east, my husband was just switched from Zyrtec to xyzal + flonase and that combination seems to be working really well for him. Last week I had to start taking Zyrtec again, usually I can hold out until mid April.

Thanks, I am in East too 😊, I tried Claritin but so far it has not helped. I will try Zyrtec plus Flonase tomorrow 🙏
crestedgeckovivi@reddit
Welcome to spring in Texas and it's about to get worse lol.
Right now I'm taking Claritin D at night and a zyrtec in the morning. Plus Flonase as needed.
I also have the phenylephrine nasal spray I use several times a day.

Thanks, that helps 🙏
