Had the chance to drive this car on some mountain roads and was thoroughly impressed. Made me consider selling my BMW :) Tail of the Dragon is wild, should be on the bucket list of any car enthusiast IMO. Shoutout to Killboy for the sick photos, and all the friendly folks out there

Was this done as part of a car club/group? If so, which one?

Was just there for the weekend with my wife, no group. There was plenty of people there, lots of mustangs

I'd be constantly afraid of it breaking though, the previous generation was absurdly unreliable in almost every regard (electrical gremlins, engine failure, pretty much every single interior element was prone to malfunction, flaking paint).

The only cars that come to mind would either be a civic type r or focus rs. The civic is unappealing just based on looks really, although the performance is crazy the style of it just isn’t for me. Focus rs has the performance for me also, but spending that kind of money to sit in a cheap cramped focus interior is a no-go for me as well.
I disagree that modern German cars aren’t fun to drive. Sure, the steering feel is a little soft and detached from road feedback, but the interior remains highly luxurious and roomy while it shreds through curves effortlessly. I haven’t had the pleasure of driving a Porsche through roads like this but look forward to trying it out sometime. After running up and down these roads, I can just put the car back into a comfort mode, turn on the seat massager and go back home without my back aching and arms falling off. There’s not much that can compete for my liking.
Civic type r is insane for sure though, they were all able to keep up with it, but they just look too gaudy for me. Even though a manual transmission would be fun for these roads, I have no desire to daily a manual anymore in my life. There was one guy in a Porsche there who was remarkably fast through the corners, so much so that I couldn’t even tell what he was driving.

Love seeing the lean in this picture.
