Bose A20's - case or no case?
Posted by hotelcc@reddit | flying | View on Reddit | 21 comments
Does anyone use their Bose A20's and put it straight into their flight bag? (unfortunately it does not have a dedicated headset compartment)
Right now I'm putting into the Bose carry case which then goes into my flight bag but that unfortunately takes up almost half the available space. Looking to save space if possible if the risk of them being damaged is not too high
Thanks

I put it in my case. Had them since 2021 and they still work like new.

Been shoving it loose in my flight bag for the last 6 years and 2000+ hours. Still looks new. Don’t waste money on a case. Just more crap to carry around.

^ 1500 hours in my lw cube and looks the same as always.

I just stick em in my bag, no case. They haven't got that banged up in the 3 years I've done it as an airline pilot.

If they’re not plugged into the plane they’re in the case. No exception.

I also never leave mine plugged in, even when stored in my hangar. This is especially true when traveling… I’d hate to come back to a missing headset just to avoid packing it and taking it with me.

Always put them back in the case afterwards. And keep my logbook/ipad mini in the pocket

The headset takes care of you, so take care of it. The return on investment is based on the condition. Also, it’s your profession, if you’re not taking care of something small, will you take care of something big?

I've benn saving to get a camera backpack since it has adjustable cushions plus storage to carry other items.

I have delta zulus, and my flight bag (a backpack) is already way too big with my stratux case, yoke mount, ipad, battery bank, AND the case for my headset in it.
Those fucking things cost 1200 bucks I still put them inside their case and in my backpack.

Do you want to protect your $1000+ investment on something that can easily last for a decade or more? Take care of it. Put it in the carry case, then into your flight bag immediately after every flight.

Thanks for the carabiner suggestion, might look into that

Please no.

I’ve had my Zulu 2s in their case for about ten years now, and they look almost brand new.
These are expensive. Take care of them!
Lazy_Elk1981@reddit
I've been just throwing them into my flight bag. Been doing it that way for 2 years.
cficole@reddit
I don't know if they're still available, but there used to be headset bags made of soft cloth. That wouldn't take up much more space in a flight bag, and would add some protection for your headset.

Im a big fan of the sportys crosswind bag. It has its own side pocket that fits my a30’s perfectly, plus plenty of room for all my student gear (folders, books, far aim, ipad, etc). It appears as if it’s on sale for like 10 bucks off too rn

I have a flight bag with a padded zipper case on the end. My A20’s fit right in there and I religiously coil the cord gently and place them in the pouch Every. Single. Flight. They cost $1000 and I treat them as such.
Also, pro tip, Pale Blue rechargeable batteries for the win! Safe flying

Get a case.

Buy a case.
