Listing the top Reddit alternatives
Posted by austinor@reddit | RedditAlternatives | View on Reddit | 49 comments
Hey all - I'm working on a post that lists and tracks all the Reddit alternatives, and now seems like a particularly relevant time to do a deep dive on our options.
https://blog.jyst.ai/top-5-reddit-alternatives-in-2025-if-reddit-keeps-playing-politics/
What others am I missing? What someone defines as a true 'alternative' is tricky, so really hoping to keep the list focused on the sites that allow for voting/discussion that is similar to Reddit or Digg.
hastogord1@reddit
You can include ours if you want to.
We launched a Reddit alternative called LetIt we are business focused though.
You can read about us here.

I check in on tildes.net from time to time. Pretty low user count, but that just means less cruft to wade through as far as I'm concerned. There's an unofficial Android client, too.
dont_ban_me_please@reddit
tildes bans you for anything remotely controversial.
so... tildes will not work as an alternative.
TossablyInsane@reddit
Since what's "controversial" can vary according to perspective, would you mind being more specific? You have me curious, so I'd like to try to validate your claim. My time there has been pretty limited only because of the low activity (and a fair amount of content duplicated from elsewhere), but if there's a reason that's the case then it'd be good to know. Thanks.
dont_ban_me_please@reddit
I'm pro science, pro lgbt, pro teacher, pro workers rights
also, Tildes doesn't tell you which comment they ban you for, so your guess is as good as mine as to what constitutes bannable offenses.
Ok-Comb4513@reddit
Tildes sounds great and you sound like an insufferable bitch đ
dont_ban_me_please@reddit
I knew if I put myself out there that someone would attack me.
You did it. You certainly did it.
porloshuevos@reddit
You might be insufferable, who knows, but man... since when did being any of the things you said you were become something to be villified for?
I swear there was a period before the 2010s but maybe after the 90s where being those things almost seemed to be becoming the norm... Companies would jump at the chance to virtue signal whenever they could on those issues and now they are bending over backwards for Trump and his base. It's exhausting no matter which side they say they support either way.
Let me know if you find an alternative to reddit. Preferrably someplace where science, human decency, and worker rights aren't politicized to absurdity. Kinda sucks that maybe even the grass we are supposed to touch in the real world isn't as safe a space anymore though.
dont_ban_me_please@reddit
Please you let me know if you find one also. :D
Ok-Comb4513@reddit
Just making an observation. You should probably be aware of it. You're welcome to anyone you may know irlÂ
dont_ban_me_please@reddit
sure. you are a special genius.
TossablyInsane@reddit
So, after my initial reply to this comment I went researching to refresh my memory on what's up with Tildes. It seems the main goal of the site's creator (who apparently also is the person who created the Reddit u/automoderator) was to create a place for civil, polite, and respectful discussion. As such, the site is indeed heavily moderated to meet those goals.
I strongly suspect (particularly with your lack of reply even though I asked the question almost immediately after you made this comment) that you are the type of person who is unable to meet such civility requirements, and thus your complaint is a misleading denial of your own culpability in getting yourself banned. Therefore, I tend to doubt the veracity of your complaint.
There are plenty of other sites where you can get your childish self-righteous bullshit fix. Just because Tildes doesn't put up with such crap doesn't make it a poor alternative. In fact it raises my interest in reconnecting with the site. Here's hoping activity levels have improved since my last visit.
JBDBIB_Baerman@reddit
Oh jeez NVM then. I would've checked out the article, but if it's trying to be a top ranking and not just a list of alternatives and explaining what they do and don't, that's really a no go in my book
stay_fr0sty@reddit
When there is a good alternative, youâll know. Everyone will know. We donât need these lists.
Electronic-Phone1732@reddit
cough cough lemmy cough
stay_fr0sty@reddit
Cough hosts control too much of the narrative cough. Cough we have to accept whatever the mods feed is cough puke
Otherwise, yea. Great alternative.
Electronic-Phone1732@reddit
Cough they can control nothing if you self host cough cough there is public modlogs cough cough.
TossablyInsane@reddit
To be fair, I've seen far worse. I think it's worth a quick peruse as long as you keep the obvious reason for its existence in mind.
austinor@reddit (OP)
I'll take a look - thanks. And yes, it's a bit of a shameless plug but it helps the site show up when people use generative search. Early days and we need all the love we can get. Cheers!
iMightBeEric@reddit
Is not even that you plug it. Itâs the way you plug it. The wording/approach is horrible.
You list âloss of trustâ as a key reason people are leaving Reddit but canât be bothered to be fully transparent yourself. You need to build trust, not squander it.
I get it - you need exposure, but this could so easily have been worded to give you the best of both worlds.
âShameless plug: Jyst. Here at Jyst we are working to create a platform that addresses some of the key issues we have with Reddit ⊠â kind of thing.
Aside from this, it shows promise. I personally prefer the look of Tildes (I find my eyes had a harder time scanning over your text on the phone) but itâs heading in the right direction
pase1951@reddit
Has Tildes really been in a restricted, invite-only alpha for 7 years? No wonder the user count is low.
TossablyInsane@reddit
Dunno, I've had an account for so long I don't remember if I had to do anything special to get it. As I said, I only go there once in a blue moon when I want something different from Lemmy and Reddit. It's supposed to be a non-profit, so I don't really know what their goals are.
FellowKidsFinder69@reddit
https://gethivemind.app - Hivemind
It's a learning app that looks like reddit/twitter and turns a topic in to a feed.
In this feed AIs talk to each other, or make means about the topic and you can learn it by scrolling.
I use it mostly for research papers.
Impossible-River5960@reddit
This sounds like informational incest
FellowKidsFinder69@reddit
What do you mean?
Impossible-River5960@reddit
AI generated data is degenerative to AI datasets, AI makes mistakes and other AI repeat those mistakes [at a fast pace] *UNLESS they are verified by a person and corrected to orient them properly again with fresh, clean data setsÂ
If not, the AI generating data off an AI generated data set would become progressively less reliable.
Part of data processing is data cleaning and AI cannot clean data well enough, esp. Conceptual data like writings and syntheses.Â
so when an AI runs off AI generated data, it starts hallucinating and lyingÂ
FellowKidsFinder69@reddit
You can say the same about humans.
LLMs have a very good basic knowledge already.
Impossible-River5960@reddit
Yes, incest happens in many instances- that is why its important to maintain diverse inputs that are credible.
However LLM are being trained on internet data sets and the internet data sets are being overpopulated with AI generated data.Â
So the ecosystem and lack of regulations creates conditions for incest that are avoidableÂ
lucygetz@reddit
Iâm digging this Jyst site.
MomentPale4229@reddit
I'd never ever sign up for a social network with an .ai domain.
threelonmusketeers@reddit
What do you have against Anguilla? :)
shwhjw@reddit
Is there an alternative that looks like old reddit? All the ones I've looked at look like new reddit, and I'm using a desktop. I don't want to use a website that looks like it's meant to be running on a mobile.
FixedFun1@reddit
Lemmy has quite of them like Old Reddit.
mighty3mperor@reddit
There's a Lemmy frontend for that: https://old.feddit.uk
djfrodo@reddit
Headcycle
malcarada@reddit
I think Scored.co looks like the old Reddit.
triangularRectum420@reddit
This is simply one of those articles where companies pretend to answer a question, simply to advertise their product as the perfect solution.
In my opinion, this practice is kinda scummy. I don't have much hope for a platform which is already indulging in morally gray advertisement practices.
ManagerOk9740@reddit
This article is like that Obama awarding himself meme.
djfrodo@reddit
Headcycle
It's basically old.reddit with a few new things.
dont_ban_me_please@reddit
jyst will twitter link.
nope.
FanClubs_org@reddit
Fan Clubs is another to add for consideration. Good luck with Jyst. đȘ
austinor@reddit (OP)
Ditto!
FanClubs_org@reddit
Appreciate it! đ€
Die4Ever@reddit
PieFed is another one https://join.piefed.social/try/
UnflinchingSugartits@reddit
Will Jyst ever create a mobile app ?
austinor@reddit (OP)
Yes, it's in the works now, along with a browser extension.
UnflinchingSugartits@reddit
Awesome! I'll be keeping an eye out ty !
Electronic-Phone1732@reddit
This is like those seo friendly articles by companies that make tools, explaining how to fix something in a bid to get you to try their tool.
austinor@reddit (OP)
That structure helps those posts show up in generative searches - less so for SEO but still...
