So i want to find a Bolt action (Or single shot for that matter) preferably in .300 win mag, but there aren't many to find :/
I've found this in the picture, an Mossberg Patriot Walnut Bolt 24" 300 Win Mag, but heck from what i've seen it can barely fire 5-10 rounds before needing a 15+ min cooldown, its seems to be far to light as well xd
RockIslandEnjoyer@reddit
Have you looked into anything from tikka, they’re a bit under $1,000 in the US for a T3X, they’ve got a sub-moa guarantee, and they’re incredibly smooth
coffeebear99@reddit
what are you talking about. cooldown?? it's a bolt action not a machine gun. winchester makes model 70s with irons and 300 win mag
WarthunderNorway@reddit (OP)
Like, not being able to fire more than 10+ rounds before the barrel is too hot/blurred vision etc (Fluted barrel on the mossberg)
I have a Gewehr 98 with a quite thick barrel, if i wanted i could fire way over 30 rounds before heat being a problem haha
coffeebear99@reddit
are you hunting deer or isis with it? listen to yourself
Shitmonkey5425@reddit
I get what he means, some light rifles will start to string after four rounds or so and the way my range is set up I like to try and clear the steel targets at the various distances and that’s about a 15 round minimum.
WarthunderNorway@reddit (OP)
Mr coffebear is either rage baiting or karma farming, or simply just being a D
The situation is as simple as; I want a rifle, that can fire 15+ rounds without getting too hot (Like a fluted barrel will after like 5+ rounds)
Something tells me a lot of the people on here barely has been shooting or doesn't own weapons
WarthunderNorway@reddit (OP)
burh, hunting & sport/training (I don't feel like waiting 15min between series)
coffeebear99@reddit
you seem convinced in what you're saying. I can't talk sense into you
WarthunderNorway@reddit (OP)
training/sport; shooting like 10-15 rounds then a little break to let the weapon cool down (Not 10-15+. way to much time, don't have forever xd)
hunting: sitting in a corner of some fields waiting for the deer's to dare go out ..... 1 shot dead...
B3nny_Th3_L3nny@reddit
you won't want to shoot 10+ rounds of 300 win mag
WarthunderNorway@reddit (OP)
well it has worked nicely, no impact on neither accuracy or heat, ive not shot more than 15 tough, i know it is a powerful cartridge and that it wears down the barrel, especially when hotter
Ornery_Secretary_850@reddit
ANY rifle shooting .300 Win Mag is going to have barrel heating problems. It's a large cartridge burning a lot of powder.
WarthunderNorway@reddit (OP)
yes, that i know of, i got a Voere Mauser mod 98 rebuilt to use this cartrigde, if its +15 Celsius i can fire 12-15 rounds before it being too hot and blurry and cools relatively quicly
But form the reviews i for example have seen about the Mossberg, is that it needs at least 15 minutes of cooling, and heats up very quickly
even tough a heavier barrel would need longer to cool

skunimatrix@reddit
Tikka Arctic?
WarthunderNorway@reddit (OP)
looks quite good! but i see it got the kind of "diopter sights" not so good for hunting, wich i forgot to mention xd
skunimatrix@reddit
They have a couple of models with irons still. Including in .300 win mag.
REDACTED3560@reddit
It is slightly over the budget, but the Sako Bavarian is excellent and comes in around $2200.
WarthunderNorway@reddit (OP)
Its beautiful, but it cost 3,335 here :'-( haha
REDACTED3560@reddit
A rifle made in Finland costs more in Norway than it does in the US? Talk about backwards.
WarthunderNorway@reddit (OP)
If nothing have changed since last i checked, Norway is THE country or one amongst the top 3 with the most and most expensive taxes on everything XD
US: 24.100 NOK
Norway: 33.000 NOK
https://bmwear.no/produkt/vapen/riflepakker/sako-2/sako-90-bavarian-riflepakke
They did for example around 2022/23 introduce a sugar tax, so a 200G plate of chocolate, wich in 2020 cost 2$ to now be around 6.5-7$, gives some perspective lmao
A_Queer_Owl@reddit
at least y'all get something in return for your taxes.
WarthunderNorway@reddit (OP)
we don't really get much in return to be honest
The richest country in the world, with 19.742 Billion NOK in the bank, and not a tiny tiny little bit, about the size of a breadcrumb, can be spent of them for upkeep of the roads and official buildings/schools...
heck, everything is financed on the wallet of the citizens, the road is being paid for by expensive toll and still its not enough to even patch the holes
then we have the part where most of it is donated to organizations and other nations, or given to people who is too lazy to work or hurt a bit here and there and refuse to work (Huge problem) and a bunch of other stuff wich i am not writing about here
so, sugar tax, serves no purpose other than making the wallets of the official's thicker
Democracy-Manifest-@reddit
I was stationed in Norway for awhile and we were appalled at the 30USD Cheeseburger and fries and sin taxes on literally everything. That said, your women were ok with us 👍🏻
Bison_2008@reddit
Ruger Guide Guns, Ruger Gunsite Scout
WarthunderNorway@reddit (OP)
they look good, but for some wierd reason these are twice the price of other brands, even if they cost the same aboard xd
Bison_2008@reddit
They are a bit more. But you are paying for one of the few common production rifles available with an action that doesn’t feel like a toy

Edrobbins155@reddit
Since you didnt specify caliber. I always been a fan of these.

cristorf@reddit
Cz600 lux model comes with irons and is available in 300win mag. I have a few CZ rifles and they are awesome rifles
Snoo58386@reddit
Dude I have a cs jaguar. Super long barrel, iron sights it’s an heirloom gun for sure. I’m going to get a cs scout or the shorter barrel version next. Walking through brush with a super long barrel is a little less than ideal but I love that gin so much much. https://cz-usa.com/product/cz-457-jaguar/
WarthunderNorway@reddit (OP)
The cz rifles looks quite good, nice sights on it too, i have the impression some are discontinued tough
CPTherptyderp@reddit
The 600 is the current production model.
I love my 557. Action is glass smooth. Absolutely 0 after market support. Kinda regret buying it but it's a perfectly good deer rifle.
TheCarm@reddit
Tikka T3x variants are great. I would recommend the Browning X Bolt series as well.
However the best bolt rifle in high caliber I've ever bought is a .30-06 Remington 700
KEBobliek@reddit
I'm from Finland, so I may have a bit of a bias, but in that price range I would highly recommend Sako and Tikka. The Sako S20 from what I've understood is their "mid-range" rifle and that the Tikka t3x is a more budget version of. Both should shoot under 1 moa (1" groups at 100m).
I don't have much experience with the newer rifles, I've tried them at events only so maybe 10-20 rounds. I had a pretty decent first impression from them, I haven't shot them enough to say if I like them a lot though. I have shot a few hundred rounds out of a Sako TRG-21 and can say that it's a really nice gun to shoot and that it's comfortably under 1 moa. My main deer/moose rifle is a Tikka LSA-55 (Early model M55) from the early 70s that also shoots around 1 moa. The older Sako and Tikka rifles like the Sako 85 and Tikka M55 are also great guns and that at least over here cost a lot less than the brand new rifles even though the performance is pretty much identical.
arg211@reddit
Maybe the Zastava M70. Mauser action, iron sights, variety of chambering options.
WarthunderNorway@reddit (OP)
Those actually looks quite good! quite decently priced as well (550-600$ over here!) haven't heard about the brand before tough, but nice, thank you!
arg211@reddit
Yep of course! I love my Yugo AK from them and want one of their bolt guns, myself
WarthunderNorway@reddit (OP)
Well i've never heard anything bad about any of the weapons from those nations, so i'll consider that one!
FistInsensitive@reddit
CZ 600 Lux i 30-06 is a beautiful rifle that i have that i enjoy very much. I think it fits what you're looking for
WarthunderNorway@reddit (OP)
it looks very good, but seems to be hard to get, is it discontinued?
FistInsensitive@reddit
No mine is a very recent production. Instock as of this post
https://www.budsgunshop.com/product_info.php/products_id/143257/cz-usa+cz+600+lux+300+win+mag+3+1+cap+24+tb+black+steel+rec+walnut+bavarian+style+stock+right+hand
WarthunderNorway@reddit (OP)
that's awesome, not too expensive either :)
it seems like they have put on some extra price for the imports, a similar rifle, the ruger alaskan, wich on buds costs 1,659.00$, costs 2,583.41$ here lmao
https://proshop.jaktdepotet.no/ruger-hawkeye-alaskan-bolt-20-375-ruger
FistInsensitive@reddit
Thats unfortunate. However this rifle swing far above it's weight class. And is definitely worth it imo. Price is very relative to location
WarthunderNorway@reddit (OP)
it seems quite good, haven't found any dealers wich has it in stock or as an option (proshop) but from the comparable verisons with optics only, its seems affordable
EstablishmentFull797@reddit
You’re in the EU? Get whatever Sako has iron sights and is in your price range.
WarthunderNorway@reddit (OP)
funny enough, barely any of the dealers seems to have them with iron sights xd
EstablishmentFull797@reddit
Sako Bavarian has some cool variants.
There are a couple current production Tikka’s as well. The Ranch and the Arctic both have irons.
WhereTheShadowsLieZX@reddit
I know Ruger makes some of their Hawkeye m77 rifles with iron sights and Winchester makes some model 70s with irons. From a quick look at their websites the “Alaskan” models of both guns come with iron sights in .300wm though not sure how easy they are to get in Europe.
WarthunderNorway@reddit (OP)
There are many of those imported/available for order, but the only i#ve seen with the iron sights are 2700$ + XD but i'll see if there are more, they look quite good
WhereTheShadowsLieZX@reddit
Yeah you guys in Europe sometimes have crazy markups on guns. Those are more like $1300-1500 guns stateside. I remember seeing an Austrian has to pay about double what an American does for a Glock. Best of luck, and I’d second what some others are saying about checking out the cz600. I’ve got a .22 from CZ and it’s great quality.
Nervous-Glove-@reddit
Franchi momentum Cz 600 Mossberg mvp scout Savage scout Tika t3x tac has a full length rail you could put irons on.
Full-Metal-Jack-off@reddit
Ruger makes a Alaskan m77 in 300 win mag
MetalDogmatic@reddit
Some Remington 700 variants like the (BDL on their website) have iron sights on them, and there are plenty of aftermarket parts for customizing it, is that something you'd want to check out?
WarthunderNorway@reddit (OP)
i'll check them out :)
