It’s both? The lack of the physical component certainly plays a role in the loneliness factor. I’m sure there are plenty that go “woe is me I can’t pull”, but it’s everything. You want someone to give you the same physical validation that you give her. At the same time, you also want someone to give you the mental validation too. It’s hand in hand. I asked a girl out about a year ago and she said no. Now she’s a good friend I smoke and bs with. I put that shit out of my head and now it’s mentally easier to talk to other women because now I have more experience. I’ve made the mistake of ghosting women when they made the friendship intention clear when I was younger, but that’s shallow as shit. Form connections with people. Don’t go into anything with set parameters. At the same time, don’t roll over and not make your intentions known.

Western society is fouled up to a great extent because of the gender segregation of young children until about graduation from high school, at which time, they are expected to date strangers, marry one of them, set up a household together and have children.

It's not going to happen.

As anyone who has raised puppies knows that unless they are "socialized" a LOT before maturity, they will see other dogs as "the enemy", certainly not as part of their family or pack.

So why imagine that children will be different?

Most people assume, incorrectly, that children will socialize in school or maybe in church, but that doesn't happen because they are surrounded by adults that distract them with all sorts of things.

Are you complaining that boys and girls have separate locker rooms and bathrooms? That’s about the only gender segregation most kids will experience at any point in school. The kids themselves might self-segregate into boy/girl cliques up until maybe middle school at the latest, but that’s still far from high school graduation.

The loneliness stems from a lack of community imo.

And as the west moves away from the traditional church community, their new religion is the algorithm. Facebook, X, Instagram, TikTok etc are all fucking with our dopamine levels and keeping us hooked into a system designed to keep us as engaged as long as possible so they can expose us to more ads.

These “social” interactions are like living on a diet of fast food, and wondering why you don’t feel good. What you feed your mind matters. And endlessly gooning or being hooked into the algorithm will unravel your identity and consume you.

Our society is at the early stages of a dystopian Cyberpunk society. And unless something radical changes for everyone, we will just continue to grind ourselves down into irrelevancy.

I think you're mostly right except for the possibility of redemption. Our environment changed but our ways of interacting with it haven't yet. After the industrial revolution, it took a while before we had sane working conditions and clamped down on all the excesses. This is similar.

I think we'll adapt as a society. It's a challenge, but not too different from other ones we've mostly succesfully adapted to. Societal revolutions like that tend to have short term upheaval as a cost for long term progress. There isn't something irreplaceably "good" about last century's church communities, but they filled a role that's being left empty for too many people right now.

I've rationalized as a supply and demand issue due to the obesity epidemic ruining the supply of ACTUAL attractive men and women in the dating market.

Thats 75% to 80% of the US population that is considered either overweight, fat, obese, and or morbidly obese. OR 4chan anons are in shape but dont get enough opportunities to get what they want due to that supply curve not meeting the demand curve.

The supply and demand curve of ACTUAL attractive people in the dating market that is being heavily affected by an obesity epidemic thats been festering and growing since at least the 1980s.

There, that's all ya'lls problems... supply does not meet demand -> that's a shortage
